Adam Dunn Trade rumor thread
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 01:08 PM) So, I'll probably get laughed off for this, but here goes... what about trading to get Carter back? Anyone think that's even possible? Beane normally hordes prospects, not trades them

Hudson's command is just terrible
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 11:53 AM) Yesterday, I thought he pitched better than the numbers indicated, but I didn't think he pitched good, either. he was just hot and cold all day. One batter he would dominate, the next would dominate him. As has been stated multiple times in this thread, such is the way of rookie pitchers, you just have to deal with it

Hudson's command is just terrible
Hudson was nibbling yesterday, and then he fell apart a bit in the 2nd when that dribbler got past beckham. I like his stuff, he has a ton of movement on his fast ball and when he has confidence in his pitches that changeup will be a wipeout pitch. I havent seen him use his slider too much yet, and I agree it has looked pretty flat so far

Hudson's command is just terrible
QUOTE (Knackattack @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 11:23 AM) I think it is really funny how people say Hudson has no command, no balls and will only be a "nice #4 starter" and then follow it up with no statistical evidence. the eye test trumps all

I want Ozzie and KW gone.
QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 11:15 AM) This type of attitude that everything is alright because we are better than we used to be will be the downfall of the organization if that is what they believe. They should continually be looking to get better in all facets of management, whether it be upgrading the ballpark, enhancing the fan's experiences, developing and drafting better, etc. This franchise does alot well and alot right, but it has major areas to improve upon and to say "well, we're better than we used to be, so its all peachy" will put you right back into a crappy position. I do not think for one second that KW's philosophy is "things are better than they used to be so this it is all peachy"

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 07:13 AM) Something strange happened with this thread, its suddenly indented for me. Anyway... if anyone was considering seeing The Sorcerer's Apprentice... don't. My god was that awful. Nic Cage hasnt made a quality movie since Raising Arizona edit: well, I did like Waking the Dead and Matchstick Men, so maybe not entirely true. But a movie where he gets to play his Con Air character is never good

White Sox Trade Catch-All
QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 08:59 AM) I don't think Stone is really going out on a limb there. I mean, it's Kenny Williams. He's going to do something. Obviously Dunn is the target, and I think there's a good chance he joins the Sox on Sunday. Wouldn't that be cool? i would rather him join the sox this week on the homestand

Filthiest Venues in Pro Sports....
I wonder if the inspectors were surprised when they saw the workers at Lambeau field serving food after blowing their nose and not washing their hands?

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 08:28 AM) Didn't the Cubs hire the same company that was running the Sox's food service about a year or two ago? yep, and apparently that made a difference

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 25, 2010 -> 04:47 PM) If it was a larger role, it would be Denzel Washington. I was thinking that too. And Jonah f***ING Hill for Paul DePodesta? Look at this guy: WTF?

Dan Haren traded to the Angels
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 25, 2010 -> 06:30 PM) Really? Then why'd they trade Lee in the first place? Why would they be thinking about trading Werth? The Phillies are right up against their spending limits, and they have to be disappointed with their return in the Lee deal. They traded Lee because they didnt have the prospects necessary to get Halladay. They are still trying to pull Oswalt out of Houston and are mentioned in plenty of trade rumors. They are trying to get value for Werth because they feel he is going to be asking for a large contract after the past couple years. And while they may be disappointed in their return, it is still Roy Halladay, they still got an ace

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 25, 2010 -> 05:26 PM) http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2010/07/ange...e-saunders.html Huge blow to the Tigers. Actually I would see this as a huge blow to the Twins and the Tigers as another Ace is off the market, so they have to fight over fewer quality available pitchers. Besides Lilly and Oswalt, there is not much left in the pool and plenty of teams like the Yankees and Phillies who are willing to spend whatever is necessary to compete

The actor choices for Moneyball are just bizarre. Brad Pitt as Billy Beane? Jonah Hill as Paul DePodesta? PSH as Art Howe? If anyone is Art Howe it is Terry O'Quinn

2010 Cubs Thread
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 25, 2010 -> 03:02 PM) We were talking about comparing the offenses of the NL Central teams, as well as the prognosis of the offenses from here. The Reds offense is struggling, especially with Rolen out. That's all I was mentioning. you were using your comparison earlier to prove that the Central needs to look out because here come the Cubs

QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Jul 25, 2010 -> 01:34 PM) From all accounts he was great to work with on the set and really clicked well with the director the studio just decided to cut the movie their own way than avengers a deal was being negotiated and out of the blue signed this other guy. Yeah the studio and Norton really butted heads in the editing room to the point where Norton didnt even want to promote the movie and said some really baited remarks in interviews.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 25, 2010 -> 02:58 PM) Balta, the Reds are 2 innings away from getting shut out for the 4th time in 12 games. That would also be a Major League leading 12th time being shut out on offense. fathom, the cubs are 45-53, 9.5 games out of first, and in 4th place in their division

Magglio Ordonez Seriously Injured
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 25, 2010 -> 11:20 AM) One of those guys don't belong in that sentence. If he didn't get hurt, he'd easily be the MVP favorite right now. I think this time he is spending on the DL could be explained as a dropoff in Minnesota's production, not necessarily Morneau specifically

Magglio Ordonez Seriously Injured
QUOTE (scenario @ Jul 25, 2010 -> 11:04 AM) Maggs' injury is the type of event that could functionally end his career. Think about it. He's the same age as Dye. And about just as mobile... before the injury. Pretty good chance he'll be relegated to DH duties from now on. So, what's the market going to be in 2011 for a 37 year old right-handed DH coming off a serious injury? If he's not willing to take a serious pay cut he could find himself in the same position as Dye next year. The one good thing Maggs still has going for him is that he is an amazing hitter. Dye fell off offensively so hard last year that he couldnt find the job he wanted

If you haven't seen the sfx breakdown for the BBC Attila the Hun film he directed, here it is. Unreal. I was reading about Monsters, they went to Brazil and Peru with the two stars and a crew of 5, and just paid extras where they found them and shot the film. That is truly amazing to me. I am starting to really like the shoestring budget sci-fi movies that have been coming out recently(Cloverfield, District 9) and this looks like it will fall into that mold as well
