Sure he was. He still didnt suck in 2009, far from it. Mediocre, yes. But he didnt suck

QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 6, 2009 -> 01:52 PM) Dotel was not fine. Dotel is way overpaid. Some nights he had it, many he didn't and completely sucked. He's not reliable and I hope he is shipped out. His numbers say he was fine. More than fine last year. A little less than fine this year, but solid nonetheless

QUOTE (dasox24 @ Oct 6, 2009 -> 01:49 PM) I don't think the Giants are getting much love here. Even if they haven't played the toughest teams, they're pretty damn good. Their o-line is the best in the league, imo. Eli's plantar fasciitis is going to be big question mark for them now, though. As Sox/Bulls fans know, that injury can be pretty bad (though Eli's doesn't sound as serious as it could be). I dont know, he looked like he was shot in the foot on Sunday when he let loose that pass.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 6, 2009 -> 01:49 PM) I didn't mean to say that is what you inferred. I'm saying Carrasco was great in his role and a valuable member of the team. I admitted I was wrong on Carrasco but not wrong on any other of the former KC relievers who sucked with the Sox. Dotel was fine. So yes, you were wrong there too And whats the point of this fantasy scenario where Thornton is closer and Carrasco is his setup? Does it further your point about Dye?

QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 6, 2009 -> 01:26 PM) I have lightened up on Rios and I hate former Royals pitchers. I've admitted I was wrong on Carrasco and that he is outstanding in the role he has. Certainly you do not want him in an expanded role to where he takes over Thornton's role when Thornton becomes the closer? Oh sure greg, that is pretty much exactly what I said and inferred

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 6, 2009 -> 11:41 AM) All of the 4-0 teams have had some weak opponents to date. Can't blame it entirely on schedules. Im not discounting the possibility that the Vikings are the best team in the league, Im just not gonna hand it to them right now, and part of the reason is the schedule. They will play better opponents soon, it will all even out. If they are as good as ESPN and the Favreites think they are, it will show.
-
Yeah i am also wondering how Prophet Favre will hold up over an entire year having that surgically repaired arm slammed into the turf.

QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Oct 6, 2009 -> 11:02 AM) Yeah, didn't he ask for a Whopper or something? LOL. I loved that part - not the fight, but him looking down at his boss and demanding a cheeseburger. Roy kind of comes off like a dick though. He needs to not act like a dick and instead become a lovable fat guy who just wants to rub bellies with people. Oh, another idea: when they show promo videos of Nelson mistboxing, they should have him like hold a burger in each hand, and as his hands come back to his body he can take a bite. So he'd be like mistboxing with burgers. That would be awesome. He should just come out in the King Hippo attire and go with that

QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Oct 6, 2009 -> 10:41 AM) I think he could be. Nelson really needs to work on his wrestling though. Think about this: 1. Roy gets the takedown 2. Roy rubs his sweaty belly all over his opponent, then jiggles it until his nipples end up in his opponent's mouth 3. As Roy's opponent wildly flails his limbs looking for some kind of help, Roy grabs an arm and gets the sub 4. Roy celebrates by doing the Kamala belly smack thing, then during the post-fight interview he talks about all his sponsors (Hormel chili, Kraft Macaroni and Cheese, BallPark Franks, etc.) and how hungry they make him Seriously, people would love that. It wouldnt be so funny if it didnt really happen like that, but you nailed the entire Kimbo fight with this scenario. The only difference is that he doesnt have sponsors, but he still talked about how hungry he was and that he wanted food after the fight

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 6, 2009 -> 10:31 AM) I realize Nancy didn't produce as well as other league organists but she helped us win it in 2005. Lets stop bashing her since maybe she was just having an off year. How come there aren't other threads bashing other organists? I appreciate what she has done and think she will have a good comeback year in 2010. They should fire her organ instructor
-
I wonder if they are going to try and get a replacement or if they are just going to can her recordings and play them like they usually do at the appropriate times
-
dont get me wrong, that packer O-line is atrocious, but Allen was quite a force. Ryan Grant, 1 year wonder or gonna rebound?
-
The vikings have had 1 test, 2 bad teams, and one meh team so far. They beat the teams they should have, and it took a last second TD to win the test, im not willing to say they are the best team in the NFL yet.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 6, 2009 -> 12:47 AM) Rude, then you tell me why it is wise to pile on a guy who you know is gone? Everybody talks about track records. His was one of excellence. I've tried to stop bashing my least favorite Sox player who sucked all second half. We all know Dye sucked the second half and is off to another team. You tell me what good it is to bash him? As far as WS titles, if we do win a second anytime soon, the Sox should become the greatest story in the history of Chicago sports. You know how difficult it will be to win a second WS in your lifetime? Dye was so instrumental in that first one. He deserves respect as he heads out the door. Nothing but respect as he is GAWN. Well maybe you should lighten up on Rios a bit, francis. I mean he has a TRACK RECORD of EXCELLENCE(if you use the Jermaine Dye bar of excellence, that is) You spent the entire summer, and most of last summer bashing on the most useful pitcher in the organization(carrasco), and defending a player who couldnt hit over .200 for 2 1/2 months. Seems a bit hypocritical and misguided I was just thinking about this, Dye came into the organization with a wicked bad 2 1/2 month start in 2005, and (likely) left the organization with a wicked bad 2 1/2 month finish

Jared Allen had 4.5 sacks, a safety, forced fumble, and fumble recovery. It doesnt get much better than that, mullet or not.
-
Why is Justin Duchsherer highlighted? Do we want an injury prone pitcher really bad for some reason?
-
Do my fellow bear fans believe that this is the Cedric Benson we were going to get when he came back last year or would we have gotten the same lazy POS player that talked and never backed it up?

Miguel Cabrera got drunk with Sox players Friday night?
Kyyle23 replied to scenario's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 5, 2009 -> 02:46 PM) Your body just eventually tells you that you shouldnt be a drunk asshole, because each year the next day sucks more and more. Some people are born with the innate ability to ignore what their body tells them -
QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Oct 5, 2009 -> 01:54 PM) Here it's a case of the existing monument being grandfathered in because of the circumstances. If researchers unearth native American religious artifacts on Federal lands, I'm going to be excited by the find and I'm not going to claim the government is supporting a particular religious viewpoint over all others by displaying those artifacts on site. At the same time, if a modern native American tribe (or any religious domination) asked Interior to sanction a new religious monument in a national park I would object. Another problem is that the original monument was erected with no permission from the landowner at the time. So its isnt as if it was ok to be there to begin with(regardless of meaning, Im not saying I disagree with it being there, but it was basically a 'squatting' monument). The courts are going to ruin the meaning behind it, if it hasnt been done already.

QUOTE (longshot7 @ Oct 5, 2009 -> 01:58 PM) What abou I Know who Killed Me? Lindsay Lohan has her own list of horrible movies. It is called her career

I see why the stink was raised about this though. A requested buddhist monument was rejected, its kind of hard to say one religious identifier is allowed and another is not allowed.

Miguel Cabrera got drunk with Sox players Friday night?
Kyyle23 replied to scenario's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Supposedly the party started at the Sox hotel, then when Cabrera went home him and his wife got into it. The police determined that both Cabrera and his wife were the aggressors -
QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 5, 2009 -> 11:56 AM) So, nfl.com isn't working for me concerning highlights. Are there any other places I can watch bears highlights from yesterday? i think suntimes has a few highlights on biggs' column

Ex-ESPN NFL guy Sean Salisbury is pure "win"
Kyyle23 replied to knightni's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Yeah I started reading that stuff last week, pretty funny stuff. Salisbury has a pretty tough uphill battle to go with deadspin if he thinks he is going to actually "get" deadspin. Doesnt he basically have to prove that he never texted a photo of his manhood to a coworker at ESPN in order for anythign to happen to deadspin?
