  1. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Oct 25, 2009 -> 09:12 PM) He was the Sean Salisbury of baseball, good riddance. Watch what you say, Salisbury is suing Deadspin for defamation and slander, and it directly involves the allegations that Salisbury took pics of himself and sent them to a staffer. he just might sue you too!

QUOTE (lostfan @ Oct 25, 2009 -> 09:28 AM) Actually no, that wasn't what I was trying to say, it'd be silly to be too picky on that kind of movie too much. The action was awesome, big dumb summer blockbuster fun. I just thought it was really lame for them to go so far as to and then say nothing, absolutely nothing about it for the rest of the movie. It's not like it was a "Luke, I am your father" bombshell either because you already knew it happened, if you're not going to bother to address it why mention it at all? They may as well have run a trailer for "G.I. Joe 2, coming summer 2010!" Oh another minor annoyance in the movie was when they showed a flashback scene for Duke where he's wearing his dress uniform and he has on major rank. In the movie's present, Duke is a captain in the Army. Whoops. Being a veteran totally ruins these things, I can't help but to notice and they stick out like a sore thumb. Having said that I would take G.I. Joe over Transformers 2 any day. There were no obvious facepalming "why the f*** did they put this in the movie" moments like with Transformers 2. Remember, Bay left the major facepalming moments for part 2. Sommers doesnt exactly have the best resume when it comes to continuity and believability either.

QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Oct 25, 2009 -> 09:15 AM) Monsters of Folk is kind of a "supergroup" with Jim James of My Morning Jacket, Conor Oberst and Mike Mogis of Bright Eyes, and M. Ward. Their 'regular' bands are all good too. Its really interesting, the music flexes from folk to "garage-sound" rock. I dont know why, but when I hear it I think Supertramp

I was cleaning the house yesterday and I put on the music channels while I am doing it, and first I put on Adult Alternative thinking it was going to be stuff that I grew up on in the 90's, but it didnt end up being like that, it was more "softer" alternative. I did hear a good band though, Monsters of Folk, and the song I heard was "ahead of the curve". I got the album last night and it is very interesting, I think it is definitely a "background music" type for me, but thats not a bad thing. I then switched to the normal Alternative station and heard a band called Metric. It has a chick lead singer, but I really like it. Its kind of like The Cardigans with an edge. "Help, Im Alive" is a badass song, I really like it.
  5. QUOTE (lostfan @ Oct 25, 2009 -> 02:56 AM) You threw up in your mouth too? I remember liking Harbaugh like most Bears fans did, but I went back and looked at his stats and he was really mediocre. Maybe that's just because throwing for 3000 yards is more common in today's NFL or maybe it was just because he played on some s*** teams, but he was not very good. He had a lot of swagger and hype coming out of college, and I think that made people like me and you(who were between 7 and 11 at the time) think that he was much better than he was. I know exactly how you feel, I remember hearing all about him how he was gonna be the future, and you look back and see he wasnt much of anything. He did have a few pretty good seasons with the Colts IIRC
  6. looks like CNN redid their site
  7. QUOTE (G&T @ Oct 24, 2009 -> 07:52 AM) Not to mention they might end up in jail, and lose their kids. plus fines and other expenses incurred during the incident. Im pretty sure a 911 call is quite expensive, not to mention calling the FAA
  8. They need to fire Rothschild before they can add Duncan. Rothschild is like a roach though, he has survived the past 3 coaching regimes
  9. So this little "skit" resulted in this couple having the "Wife Swap" episode that was already recorded being taken off the air, the upcoming wife swap that they were to also appear in is no longer possible, and whatever reality show they were angling for will never happen now either. Brilliant plan, Dad.
  10. If they had a trident, the trainer would have been saved.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 23, 2009 -> 01:49 PM) There is a very good chance something like this could have been a deal breaker during recruiting. If he was lied to, you can bet he leaves, and the university ends up burning a lot of future bridges with athletes who are thinking if they are willing to lie to MJs kid, are they telling me the truth? bring marshmallows, this bridge will be burned on both ends. Sponsors and Athletes
  12. If I am adidas, there is no exception. UCF probably did lie during recruiiting, but if I am an administrator for UCF and I have a recruiter telling this kid he can do what he wants, and adidas pointing to a signed contract, there is only one way to solve this. Goodbye Marcus, or wear adidas. A sponsor isnt going to want its direct rival to be sharing the spotlight. And especially now, everytime he steps on the court this is going to come up somewhere, somehow, and Adidas is going to end up looknig like the b**** because they let it slide. No way in hell I let this happen if I am in the front office
  13. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 23, 2009 -> 12:37 PM) Well, how many of the kids coming in have a father with his own brand of shoes? To the university, that should be irrelevant, they signed a contract with adidas and adidas has provided their part. If MJ wanted his kid to go to a Nike school, then he should have paraded his kid around Nike schools so this wouldnt be an issue
  14. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Oct 23, 2009 -> 12:20 PM) This is a special case. I'd have to go ahead and side with Jordan as well. The school did promise him that he would be allowed to wear the shoes. He has agreed to wear adidas everything else. Thats because Nike isnt going to make an entire uniform for him because that would also be contract violation. This is bulls***, and this is only the beginning if it happens. All the kids coming up through AAU with Nike, Adidas and Reebok sponsored teams are going to be pulling the exact same s*** and nobody is going to be able to stop it because of this.
  15. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Oct 23, 2009 -> 12:10 PM) I read somewhere that young Jordan has agreed to wear everything else Adidas, but claims that the issue of shoes was discussed during his recruiting, and he was assured by the school that he could wear his father's Nike's. If that's true, than I side with Jordan; the school is probably gettting more out of having Jordan in terms of publicity than the other way around, since he obviously doesn't need the scholarship financially. I'd hate to think the school lied and pulled a "bait and switch." I think publicity is totally irrelevant. UCF signed a contract, Adidas paid money and provided equiptment for all of UCF teams, and thats what UCF players wear. No subsitutions, no exceptions. If UCF lied to him during recruiting, it still doesnt matter, and I still dont side with Jordan. You wear the apparel the school provides
  16. QUOTE (Friend of Nordhagen @ Oct 23, 2009 -> 09:48 AM) "When a player slides in safely, the umpire has ruled him safe." In my view, that's only a slight exaggeration of a Tim McCarver analysis. Look at the site I posted a few posts above this one, there are plenty of extremely dumb quotes from him just like that. That is no exxaggeration at all
  17. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Oct 23, 2009 -> 09:34 AM) I must be in the minority here, but I dont think she's all that bad. Yes, he could have done better. LOL. You and Nuke
  18. QUOTE (iamshack @ Oct 22, 2009 -> 06:46 PM) Oh give me a break. Tim McCarver is an awesome broadcaster. I learn more about how the game is played and why players do what they do on the field while watching games McCarver does than probably every other broadcaster on television other than maybe Steve Stone. The guy has a very solid knowledge of the game, makes very intelligent commentary, and has a very good voice on air. I think he and Buck work very well together. I want to hear some honest criticisms, not this bs crap about him not being able to "piece together a coherent sentence." http://shutuptimmccarver.com/gems.htm
  19. If im UCF i say "see ya". Once the door is open for these college kids to start refusing school contracted equipment, its over and they all start doing it.

  22. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Oct 22, 2009 -> 05:57 PM) Is Pisa Tinoisamoa Hawaiian for Mike Brown? has Pisa ended multiple years in a row with injuries?
  23. QUOTE (knightni @ Oct 22, 2009 -> 05:17 PM) Trading Urlacher is tantamount to trading Frank Thomas and Ryne Sandberg when they were on the downsides of their careers. Sure, it's possible, but it would be PR suicide. Actually I really disagree with this. Urlacher has kind of dropped out of public eye as the golden boy, I am fairly positive Cutler has taken that title. With Briggs doing his thing, Urlacher can go and the Bears can still retain the Linebacker prowess because of Briggs' performance.
  24. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Oct 22, 2009 -> 03:25 PM) It's always the ugly and/or chubby women that guys end up cheating with, it will never make sense but that seems to be how it goes the vast majority of the time. Phillips has a history of this though (and if the rumors are true, there will be more women who he had affairs with at ESPN that will eventually come forward, in addition to his escapades with the Mets) so we should not be surprised. I would be shocked if we see him at ESPN again. On a side note, Deadspin sucks. Daluerio has run that place into the ground, and him posting all of those rumors about other people cheating and/or sleeping to the top just because he's bitter he had the scoop on Phillips and wasn't able to find enough backup to post it is lame. Even if they turn out to be true (and with some of the stories a friend of mine who worked at ESPN has told me, they probably are and then some), just throwing crap against the wall and hoping it sticks is an example of why blogs like that get made fun of because that is even a step below TMZ trash, only this is sports not Hollywood. You liked what brooks said, eh?
  25. QUOTE (East Side Z @ Oct 22, 2009 -> 03:24 PM) I dont see the Sox bidding on him at all for that money.........This is BS. No, it is speculation. Just like when Alexei came over, people were speculating he was going to make a bunch of money, and he didnt. If Chapman really only plans on making 40-60 million, he wont be talking to anyone outside of NY, Boston, and LA.
