LOL @ Swisher celebrating by himself -
i found that starting a blog is easy. Maintaining a blog, and keeping the interest level up (for yourself) is the hard part. Hopefully you get a nice following and can avoid the blog trolls. Good start though

QUOTE (WCSox @ Aug 20, 2008 -> 11:44 AM) Could you imagine a thread with this title being posted here last season? OMG, Kenny's so stupid!!11!1! Fire him now!!11!1! Those opinions are still out there. They just are muted a bit -

QUOTE (Shadows @ Aug 19, 2008 -> 08:04 PM) I was under the impression that he meant they never make those big moves, because obviously, every team makes moves I thought he meant like the big move.. And the Ronnie Brown comment wasn't directed towards you, it was just a separate comment I wanted to make Angelo tries to make big moves, and some of them blow up in his face bigtime. Last year it was Archuleta and Darwin Walker. At the beginning of the season i thought they would be really solid backups/rotation guys. But when the season went to hell and everyone got injured and they were forced to start, it got ugly quick. Bringing in Brian Griese was another attempt by Angelo that really didnt amount to anything. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 20, 2008 -> 09:22 AM) It's such a disgrace that they didn't show the 100m and 200m live. I finally got the chance to watch some USA basketball this morning, and thought it was really cool to see Lebron, Kobe, Carmelo, and Wade on the court at the same time. The Australians had no chance. Pass-Pass-Pass, 3 pointer. USA put a clinic on them -

QUOTE (Hawkfan @ Aug 20, 2008 -> 10:23 AM) Brian Anderson sees an angel massaging konerko's shoulders in the dugout. kenny williams pinch hits Konerko for quentin, and then the angel of shoeless joe comes down and stops the knuckle ball in mid air so paulie can take a huge hack at it. Konerko proceeds to hit a weak grounder to the third baseman, but shoeless joe (being invisible) grabs it and creates all sorts of confusion and strange misdirections so that paulie hits an inside the park homerun to win the game. No more PCP on gameday for you -
QUOTE (DABearSoX @ Aug 20, 2008 -> 08:21 AM) I cannot fathom that... Why not? To me, a big part of going into the playoffs is conquering your demons. In 05, the Sox handled two teams that gave them a lot of problems during the season (Boston and Anaheim). If the Sox make the playoffs this year, I want them to go against teams that think they have a pushover in the Sox. Honestly I see Tampa thinking they can dominate the Sox much more than the Angels do. Scioscia is really good about keeping his teams even keeled and under control, Tampa is a team full of young and talented players no doubt, but they are also very inexperienced in a playoff setting. And in regards to the Twins, I want it settled. If the Sox end up facing them in the ALCS, I expect it to go 7 games, with some hard fought games. They are two teams who were not supposed to be there, with MVP candidates on both teams(Morneau, Quentin and Dye), solid pitching staffs who are somewhat dominant at home and so-so on the road, same with the Bullpen, and both teams have very good closers. When it comes to playoffs, I hate the theory of shying away from "better" competition in the hopes of an easier road to the World Series. Teams that learn to overcome adversity in both the season and playoffs win the World Series, plain and simple.

QUOTE (YASNY @ Aug 20, 2008 -> 08:59 AM) Ozzie's always said he worries about the 25 guys that are 'here' and not the ones that aren't. But then again, he talking wistfully about Linebrink a couple of days ago. And after the Toronto series a few months ago, KW needed to get a new offense. Ozzie speak should never be taken at 100 percent face value.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 20, 2008 -> 08:10 AM) If we win the first round and have to play them in the ALCS (assuming they win, but who knows with baseball), what's the difference really? Agreed, no matter what when you are in the playoffs you are playing playoff quality teams. Lining up Angels before Tampa or Tampa before Angels really doesnt matter It would be kind of cool if the Twins and White Sox both made the playoffs and ended up facing each other in the ALCS.

"this game is over before it starts" "I have already chalked this up as a loss" "The Sox have no chance against a knuckleballer" "We will be tied with the Twins at the end of the day" did I miss any? -
Boston will really be up a creek if Beckett cant pitch down the stretch. they are saying he is experiencing numbness in his pitching hand
-
More like "MmmmmmmmmK I will never eat this again" The funny thing is that he likened it to a McDonalds cheeseburger, albeit the bottom half of the bun was soggy

I think the look says it all

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 20, 2008 -> 08:16 AM) Between the delivery and the fact he can drop the fastball down to the 87-88 range without a change in his delivery, its has to be tough to expect him to get it up there pushing 95mph. If I hadn't have seen the velocity numbers on TV, I wouldn't have believed it either. He has the same deceptive heat that thornton has. Unless you look at the gun you wouldnt believe he is throwing that hard
-
QUOTE (TLAK @ Aug 20, 2008 -> 08:13 AM) Just looked at gameday and you're right, he got several pitches up there. I'm surpised, watching him live without seeing the gun, even his best ones didn't look that hard, very deceptive. Very effective. During his first start vs the Rangers they said he was reaching 96-97, not consistently, but he hit it a few times

QUOTE (shipps @ Aug 20, 2008 -> 06:59 AM) Dude I loved Harry and the Hendersons just as much as the next guy but doesnt it feel just a little bit silly to put so much energy towards some myth?Iam not saying you are a dumb person because you are into this, its just a dumb fantasy IMO. Im not putting any energy towards it. The people constantly looking for it(searching for bigfoot, monster hunters, etc) are putting too much energy into it. If I read that someone saw it, I will look into it just like I did with this story, if you read my first post in this thread you can tell i thought this claim was bogus. I would like to think that something like Bigfoot would exist, just for the sheer shock value of the discovery and proof that not everything on this planet has been discovered yet. But like I said earlier, the probability is next to nothing, and I understand that.

Hopefully this isnt like Mulligans interview of Juan Uribe in 2004, where Juan had no idea what Mully was asking him and just kept repeating "thank you thank you thank you for the chance to play"

QUOTE (shipps @ Aug 19, 2008 -> 03:30 PM) Shocking.I mean, cmon now guys we are talking about BIGFOOT that is like saying there may be proof the toothfairy exists. Her wings were found on someones sattelite dish. How could anyone have fallen for this? Being someone who is interested in cryptozoology, I take issue with this statement. We arent talking about a fairy or a magical creature, we are talking about a creature that could possibly have escaped being identified by science. Just in the last month there was a discovery of lowland gorillas in africa that doubled the estimated population. They went from almost being completely gone(many were saying they were not far from complete extinction) to a gigantic population stuck in a remote corner of africa that nobody ever came in contact with. While i understand that the possibility of such a bigfoot creature is so tiny, so remote that it is hardly worth believing at all, I also think that there must be some strange reason that tales of Bigfoot/sasquatch/yeti have been passed along for hundreds of years all over the entire world. There are places in North America that are extremely hard to get at by foot, there are mountain chains in asia that are almost impossible to get into, so there is a tiny little bit that a sasquatch/bigfoot/yeti could exist somewhere in the world. Do I think it exists? Probably not. To go this long without a body being found anywhere really makes it a hard case to get behind. Do I think this is "Oh man, we were so dumb, this is like believing in the tooth fairy.", no, I dont think its like that at all.

Make a wild or bold predicition for the 2008 Sox

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Feb 14, 2008 -> 05:05 PM) That was actually going to be one of mind, well, kinda. -Egbert will pitch more than 50 innings this season for the Sox. -Danks will be the odd man out for most of the season. -Anderson stick around the organization until June, and after he has a solid start to AAA, he is traded for something of value. *-Contreras has a 1st half revival, but most of us know it probably won't last all season, yet the organization can't get a replacement for someone who is going good at the moment. -Fights ensue on Soxtalk when posters consistently fight about the Linebrink signing, with the doubters saying I told you so due to his disappointing season. -Crede is traded, and has a decent season in San Fran. When Fields has a bad few weeks, the "I wish we still had Crede" posts come pop up. -Garcia is signed for dirt around May, basically paying him to rehab, hoping he can make a come back in August, September. Ouch tony, 1 for 7
