Kansas City might be pretty dangerous in a few years...
Kyyle23 replied to DaTank's topic in The Diamond Club
I think we should give up now, and forfeit everything from this point forward. -
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 16, 2008 -> 08:35 AM) Those guys really never got a chance. They had a nice build-up to their entrance to the WWE with all the promos, but then they never did a damn thing with them. I always thought the crazy skinnier guy who wasnt shaved bald looked like the old WCW wrestler Crowbar. I agree they never got a fair shake, after a lot of work to put them out there. I think a problem WWE has with a lot of wrestlers and tag teams is that they create these stories for them and paint themselves into a corner in regards to expanding the storyline or characters. Once the story has run its course, there really isnt that much to do with the character/team so they let them fade into nothing. I cant see those two guys wanting to be the Scots pretending to be William Wallace-era warriors forever, it just wears thin. Who were they going to have a promo with? Cade and Murdoch? Maybe. London and Kendrick were just blah, even though they were fun to watch. They could have possibly done something with an english team(Burchill and Regal?), but WWE fans probably wouldnt even pick up on what the storyline was. Hopefully they can repackage themselves and come back sometime. I actually enjoyed watching them wrestle. How many times has Stevie Richards been let go by WWE? edit: I never read the story about Robbie going to the TNA tapings the week before Wrestlemania and being seen on camera, and losing his $5000 wrestlemania paycheck. What a dumbass

Who do you dislike as a sports fan?

QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Aug 15, 2008 -> 08:17 PM) I'm fully aware of what the theme of this thread is, thank you. My point is why in the hell would someone dislike such a player? I can understand disliking someone who is an ass, or a good player on a rival team, but not a role player who has far exceeded his given talent level to stick around the Major Leagues and someone that handles himself with class. Just trying to understand the reasoning. In the spirit of full disclosure, I have known Jamey since he was 14 and consider him a strong acquaintance. I'm not close enough to have been invited to his wedding, but close enough to give him a call every year or two just to check in, or to catch dinner with him after a game if I get to a city where he is playing and he doesn't have a bunch of family in town. Maybe because he gets to the Sox everytime they play against a team he is on? I dont hate Grady Sizemore the person, but I hate Grady Sizemore the player vs the Sox because he lays the wood down everytime he plays. -
QUOTE (shipps @ Aug 15, 2008 -> 06:12 PM) Something about the term Cop from Georgia doesnt leave me with a good image. Those small town southern cops can get away with anything. Im not talking about getting away with anything. Either it is a Bigfoot, or its a hoax. If its a hoax, why embarrass yourself like that? its one thing to show the neighborhood kids, its a completely different story getting CNN.com updates
-
The thing I dont get if(and it probably is) it is a hoax is the reasoning behind it. They may be "good ole boys" from Georgia, but one of them is a cop, Im sure he understands that perpetrating a hoax like this wouldnt be very good for your image.

I guess we will see what happens when scientists really see the evidence. These guys are being awful secretive about the location of the body and the spot where they found it, I want people to really see what this is. Unfortunately, the face on it looks a lot like the gorilla halloween masks, So im not really buying it.

QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Aug 6, 2008 -> 10:17 PM) Yeah, I can see why one would hate him. I mean he is simply a guy who has played at a higher level than the talent he has and made the major leagues after laboring in the Minors for years, when no one gave him a chance to even get to the Show. The only reason he got called up was a September injury to Andres Galarraga after being told by the Nationals they didn't have the budget to call him up. Yeah over achieving, quality teammates really suck! If you havent noticed, the theme of the thread is who do YOU dislike. Not who SHOULD you dislike. Its an opinion, there are plenty of them in this thread. In fact, there are a lot of pretty good players, teammates, and teams mentioned in this thread. I dislike Johnny Damon(especially bearded Jesus Damon), Jason Giambi, Johan Santana(for all of those years he just held the Sox under his thumb), James Posey, Jason Kidd, Terrell Owens, Bill Belichek, Jon Gruden, Al Davis -
QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Aug 15, 2008 -> 09:15 AM) I want Casey Blake. He can hit well in the clutch, plays very good D and seems like a good clubhouse guy. I would rather no see Fields and his shotty D and I think he has been messed up mentally since last year (not sure how but I think it has happened). If the Sox are too be consistent next season offensively, we can't have .220 hitters in the lineup. Casey Blake plays very good defense? News to me

The only term I would attach to the Sox with certainty is streaky. They can be good, really good at times. And other times they can be bad, really bad. But they arent a bad team

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 14, 2008 -> 11:39 PM) That was an amazing list of our top draft picks. Man did we whiff on so many. How could scouts miss on so many guys. I guess it's totally an inexact science. You never know how high schoolers will develop and you never know how the aluminum bats influence college stats. Amazing. Look at draft picks from all teams in the same period of time. The entire draft is a crapshoot, tons of players never work out for teams. Its not just the Sox, but we are close to the Sox so we see everything as a failure compared to other teams

QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Aug 13, 2008 -> 02:16 PM) i think someone has in their signature "A bad team is going to win the AL Central. Let's hope it's the Sox", it's been pretty accurate even up to this point, who knows what'll happen to either of these teams if they make the playoffs... they say anything can happen. I dont think its accurate to say the Sox are a bad team. Not at all

Its amazing how much John and Jordan look alike. I looked at an avatar (I think ChiSonix) with Jordan in a Texas jersey and did a double take

QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 15, 2008 -> 07:34 AM) Urlacher really should do condom commercials though, he'd be perfect. "Wear condoms when dealing with these random hoes people, or you will end up like me with a crazy b**** making my life miserable" LMAO. And at the end of the commercial Michael Flatley can step into the screen and say "I used condoms. And now I am 11 million dollars richer. Trojans, the brand to trust" -
QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Aug 14, 2008 -> 10:07 PM) I'd love to get Zimmerman, but we might have to give up Poreda and Fields for him. Can Aubrey Huff still play an OK 3B? If so, he'd be great- one of the most under-rated players in baseball. He could never play an OK 3rd base. The guy is a butcher at the hot corner, thats why he has pretty much been a career DH

QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Aug 14, 2008 -> 04:18 PM) And what about the way he speaks to people, sometimes in his own circle? I guess he's the golden boy of the football team though. But you are assuming all other football players are nice guys and Urlacher is not because you have a buddy who didnt get a tip. To be honest, this is the first I have ever heard of Urlacher being a "Im better than you" non tipping jerk. Urlacher had private text messages put in the sun times by his kids mom because she is trying to get money from him and make everythign difficult for him. And he takes the high road everytime and doesnt talk about any of the crap she pulls (like not dropping the kid off where she was supposed to, which is what set him off in those text messages), he just lets the court handle it. Urlacher very well may be a private person who doesnt like his life exposed the way it has been, which makes him seem like a jerk. But I dont know the guy, and I am certainly not going to put him in Briggs boat because he made a bad choice and went without a condom -
Where did Carlos get hit? Tricep area again? Did he or Ozzie look pissed?

You know he is completely wasted. Probably passed out on his arm like in that picture he posted of himself

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 14, 2008 -> 01:28 PM) Another big RBI situation for Jimmy just as you said he'd get more this season. Dye could have blown the game open just as well. There are going to be games where Dye does nothing and Thome drops two bombs and the team wins. Sometimes its your day, sometimes its not -

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Aug 14, 2008 -> 01:13 PM) How old is Alex Gordon? It's his full second year if I'm not mistaken, has he shown some potential? (Sorry, I don't watch a ton of KC baseball) He is gonna be damn good if he stays healthy -
Who is Horribel? Has he signed yet?
