  1. QUOTE (shipps @ Sep 1, 2008 -> 10:42 AM) I have a feeling one day there are going to be alot of man crushes on Clayton Richard.Maybe his numbers havent progressed with every start but his mound presence has looked better every start. His funky motion will either be his blessing or his curse, IMO. Lots of times guys like that get out of whack with thier motion and lose the plate or lose movement on their pitches(Zito, Willis), and others perfect the motion and use it to their advantage(Randy Johnson). Hopefully Richard falls into the latter category, even though he doesnt have the heat that Johnson has
  2. QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 1, 2008 -> 10:51 AM) HBK may have tore his tricep at the Raw taping last night. That match was the only match I was looking for at Unforgiven. Are you sure its not a work?
  3. He wouldnt be the first to get the HR Derby "comedown"
  4. QUOTE (Texsox @ Sep 1, 2008 -> 10:07 AM) merging soon Yay for the poll I neglected to add!
  5. Old man gets a cheers and a Happy B-day
  6. Hmmmm, maybe I should have made this a poll. Can I still add one after the fact?
  7. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/recap?gameId...amp;hcmp=motion Brewers are appealing the call. No doubt the scorer made a quick decision, do you think it was the correct decision?
  8. QUOTE (Texsox @ Sep 1, 2008 -> 07:55 AM) I'd like to connect my laptop to my cable or sat system without going through a cable box. Is it possible? Slingbox does that
  9. And if you look at any Floyd related thread from 2007 through June 2008, Soxtalk posters did nothing but question Floyd's mental toughness. Mark said something that is something everyone wondered about Gavin Floyd, and Gavin is responding like a true competitor. Some people need a little kick in the behind to put them into another mode.
  10. mmmm, diggin up quotes for controversy after the fact
  11. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Aug 31, 2008 -> 07:40 PM) Well I wasn't here for it, but I heard it was in a parking lot. Unrelated music news: Arcade Fire are supposedly working on a documentary about the whole Neon Bible experience. I really like the Arcade Fire, so this is pretty much some of the greatest news ever. SIU has a free spring concert event every year in the Parking lot south of the Arena, in 2003 Wilco headlined, so yes they were playing in a parking lot. I just didnt want you thinking that every 5 years Wilco shows up and plays in a parking lot, because you would be waiting for a while. The only band I ever saw playing in Carbondale with regularity (not counting Jackhead, Mike and Joe, or any of the myriad cover bands that go to Pinch Penny) is the Urge. If you ever get a chance to see them at the Copper, do so

QUOTE (shipps @ Aug 31, 2008 -> 03:31 PM) I wanted him to say "I gotta sweet gig for you guys tonight". "I organized a band shell tour for you guys" LOL, now I want to go home and watch that show. I cant wait until thier new season is finished
  13. WTF, I thought that Casilla guy was done for the year

QUOTE (shipps @ Aug 31, 2008 -> 02:24 PM) I mean this in a good way,but you really do sound exactly like their agent. LOL, DBAHO's pet name will be Murray
  15. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Aug 31, 2008 -> 02:11 PM) I had to go back three pages to find this thread. Never again. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?autocom=chat I see what you are doing here. Setting up chats while I am at work so I cant attend. real nice flash, reaaaaaal nice
  16. QUOTE (The Beast @ Aug 31, 2008 -> 01:59 PM) I was just reading White Sox transactions on whitesox.com and I saw that they have Franklyn German down in the minors. Do you guys think that he's going to get called up? Anyone know much about him? He may get called up for work in the next month, but unless he gets called up in the next 8 hours he wont be making the playoff roster. He does have ML experience, but he hasnt been very consistent even though he has shown some wicked stuff.
  17. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Aug 28, 2008 -> 03:47 PM) I can guarantee you Gangrel would be down with that I dont know about that, the guy is directing porn now
  18. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Aug 31, 2008 -> 10:40 AM) http://wilcobase.com/event.php?event_key=690 This was in a parking lot? Or was this a spring thing performance? edit: This was a Spring Thing performance, not a "they play every 4 years in a parking lot" This was a SIU sponsored event event
  19. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Aug 30, 2008 -> 12:55 PM) Southern Illinois, Carbondale. Wilco plays in a parking lot here once every 5 years or so, but thats about all we get (except BB King this fall). I was there for school for 4 years and lived there for another 4 years and I never heard of or saw Wilco play in a parking lot. And I was a little more than connected on the music scene

    Films Thread

This weekend me and my wife rented Juno and What Happens in Vegas. What happens in Vegas actually had a few pretty funny moments, Rob Corddry and the girl who plays Cameron Diaz' sidekick are really funny throughout the movie. It isnt reinventing the wheel or anything, typical "We hooked up then we fell in love" type of movie, but it has some laughs. Juno was good, nothing much to say that hasnt already been said
  21. QUOTE (The Critic @ Aug 31, 2008 -> 09:55 AM) Anybody else ever play 500? One guy would hit a rubber ball (or a softball) and if you caught it on a fly it was worth 100 points, one bounce was 75, two bounces 50, three bounces 25 and no points for 4 or more bounces. First guy to 500 was the batter for the next game. It would get pretty physical once someone got close to 500. My softball team still plays 500 when we practice before games if we have time to spare
  22. QUOTE (daa84 @ Aug 31, 2008 -> 09:41 AM) running bases....or for those of you weirdos who prefer to call it "hotbox" I never heard it as hotbox. I have heard it called Pickle though
  23. QUOTE (Rooftop Shots @ Aug 30, 2008 -> 07:16 PM) Anyone play "Mother May I?" "All American Eagles?" or our old time south side Calumet Park favorite "Kill The Guy With The Football" (I grew up in a little town of Calumet Park. For those of you who don't know where that is, it's just east of Blue Island between Halsted and Ashland ave on 127th street) Haha, the PC name for the game Ghosts in the graveyard was the best, hands down. We would have anywhere from 6-25 kids playing at any time.
