QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 20, 2008 -> 08:35 AM) Someone else KW supposedly has an eye on: Ladson also reports that the White Sox and Rays are scouting closer Jon Rauch. Rauch, you may recall, came up as a starter with the Sox and was traded to the Expos in '04. Kenny Williams made that deal with Omar Minaya. I was thinking about him the other day, he was mentioned to be available on mlbtraderumors.com. Last I remember of him, his velocity was down around the time that he was traded due to a shoulder problem, if he is closing now he must have regained it.

I know its a mistype and all, but its still funny to read Street would be a nice setup guy, and also a great fill-in if Jenks has any recurrances. However, Beane is loading up right now and I am pretty sure he is going to get what he wants in regards to prospects.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 20, 2008 -> 01:24 AM) ABSOLUTELY! The IMAX experience only made it that much better. That screen is monstrous and the bass of the movie makes you feel almost like a part of the movie. It was just an overall incredible experience. So I've been thinking, if they made a 3rd one...which direction do they go in?

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jul 19, 2008 -> 05:39 PM) I'll counter that with saying that everyone is so high on this movie because they just saw it and are getting carried away. Maybe others, but not me. i love both movies, but the roles of each character in TDk are so much more defined, the conflict that Batman has to deal with is so much greater, I thought that it was a much better movie overall. there was no lull like there was in BB(the flashback scenes, any part of the movie containing Katie Holmes), it was just nonstop action.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jul 19, 2008 -> 02:42 PM) Ha, we might as well give Heath the Oscar now. Even if someone gives a better supporting performance, the fact that he died after filming combined with his "amazing," "incredible," "stunning," and "breathtaking" performance pretty much wraps it up for him. I already think the movie is going to annoy me soon with all the fellating going on. Batman Begins was better, despite Katie Holmes. the shock factor of how good Batman Begins was makes it seem like a better movie, but it doesnt hold a candle to the story and development of TDK in my opinion. We came in to the theatre knowing the characters and tone of The Dark Knight, and had expectations. With Batman Begins, we were all like "Ha, this needs to be better than "Batman and Robin""

I just dont agree that you should ignore draft picks because of past failures. Isnt the scouting department in the middle of an overhaul right now? Should we hold them accountable for the past regimes failures? And as Chisoxfn pointed out, even though you can consider some of those players busts, they still netted ML talent from trades.

the Sox arent gonna move Cabrera and switch Ramirez to short right now, too many things could go wrong here. Earlier in the year I was all for it, but that was before Ramirez became a regular. QUOTE (BlackBetsy @ Jul 19, 2008 -> 08:42 AM) Did a lot of good to have 4 picks in the 1999 draft.... http://www.baseball-reference.com/draft/?f...aft_type=junreg seriously you are referencing a draft 9 years ago as a reason why the Sox shouldnt want 2 draft picks?

Bears going to the Super Bowl?
Kyyle23 replied to whitesoxbrian's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
IIRC this isnt the first year that Harris has called the Bears going to the Superbowl. No big deal, he is a talker -
QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Jul 19, 2008 -> 04:41 AM) Terrible. Quite possibly the worst movie ever created. This includes Strange Wilderness. I had to remind myself it was Heath Ledger playing joker and not some retard with makeup on. Quit trying to stir up trouble Wait a second.......carry on

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 18, 2008 -> 11:34 PM) I never said "my statement is a statement". He said I took it personally and all I said was that I didn't and that I was just explaining why I said "THIS.TEAM.IS.DEAD". Since Joe said this thread is the worst ever, and beyond repair(and since he said it, it must be true), im going to explain what i meant by saying "it is what it is". It was a redundant statement, said in jest(again), in response to Knightni saying "I know your statement is a statement", hence why I said "LOL" afterwards. I wasnt questioning you, i wasnt making fun of you, I was making fun of knightni if anyone, and he probably could see what I was trying to say. QUOTE (ChiSox35 @ Jul 19, 2008 -> 12:13 AM) This team does evoke some serious love/hate feelings. I'm just glad it's been more love than hate. To some, baseball is a game of pitch by pitch, to others week by week, etc. You can't really blame either type. The best would be if they end up playing in October. At that point I nominate THIS.TEAM.IS.DEAD. for official club slogan. It sure beats the hell out of It's gonna happen (especially when it clearly isn't). I completely and totally agree. Shades of August-September 2005 QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Jul 19, 2008 -> 02:39 AM) this is by far, the worst white sox winner thread i've ever seen what a joke. There have been much much worse. In fact, this is nothing. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 18, 2008 -> 11:54 PM) kyyle...you've always been so wise. haha, i will let that one lie, I will never make that claim. In regards to the game, great start to the second half. Even though Billy Butler put the hammer down(has the ball landed yet?), its nice to see Buehlre carry on his winning ways vs the Royals. With the way Greinke dominated the lineup in KC, it was nice to see the Sox tee off on him at the Cell again and make his career record drop to 0-7 at the Cell.

I just cannot get over the fact that I was completely engrossed in a movie for 2 hours and 40 minutes. From start to finish, the movie was just a complex puzzle that continued to evolve into an amazing story. The yin-yang relationship between Batman and Joker was brilliantly portrayed, and Harvey Dent woven into the story never seemed forced or out of place. Usually people pick out holes in plots and use it as a reason to dislike a movie, but any hole that was in this plot never became apparent to me. The only problem I had with the movie, and it is totally small, is I loved when

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 18, 2008 -> 11:19 PM) It didn't sound to me like kyyle was making a joke, but if he was, I also apologize. I wasnt make a joke greg, I was making a suggestion. Knightni was making the joke

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 18, 2008 -> 10:10 PM) Here's a novel concept: Why don't you stop telling people what to do? As far as the game ... nice to see the Sox go nuts offensively early against a good pitcher. Good to see Carlos pick up where he left off the first half. Hitless in the all star game, he was great tonight again. Dye ... wow. OC and AJP get just one hit but they were big in the first inning, responding to KC's early run. Paulie got a nice single and I was distracted at the time but it looked like he hit the ball hard on his last out as well. Crede two hits and two RBI; Swish gets a hit and RBI. 36,000 fans. Mark B gets win. Dotel blows 'em away in ninth. Nice win. Hope the team stays hungry and keeps mopping the floor with the s***ty, yet sometimes pesky Royals. Greg, put me on ignore. Go ahead and do it now. I never told anyone what to do, I made a suggestion. If you keep trying to attack me and call me out like you have lately, its going to get personal, and one or the both of us will end up being suspended. I will do the same so I dont have to read your Haikus

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 18, 2008 -> 10:41 PM) For the 87th time, we had come off 3 straight games of looking like crap. Fortunately, we got many breaks since we were playing the bad Royals and so we won 2 of those. Our effort in the 3rd game, against the same pitcher we blasted tonight, was awful- thank Walker for that, he obviously learned his lesson, our approach was 10x better tonight. Who's complaining about run production? Actually, it's a proven stat that when we hit a home run in a game we're something like 40-15 and and when we don't we're 5-10 games under .500. Konerko didn't do anything bone-head today at 1st for the first time in 3 or 4 games, so unless he does, he'll be fine. And, we had our closer. If you make a statement like THIS.TEAM.IS.DEAD, you are gonna get ribbed. Stop explaining the reasoning behind it, and they will probably stop ribbing you about it

un-f***ing-believable. Heath Ledger commanded the entire movie. So many things to talk about, but I cannot pick out just one.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 18, 2008 -> 11:12 AM) Yeah, I saw the cover of the Sun Times yesterday had a picture of G-Rod in a cowboy outfit (story about his offer of national guard to the city), but I can't find that image online. That would be perfect. this should get me a "Get out of jail/suspension/banning free" card

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 18, 2008 -> 03:01 PM) One can argue he had a large part in helping us lose our last game. An 0 for 6 performance with 9 LOB is pretty week especially when you lose a 1 run game. or the dropped double play ball in KC, or the caught stealing that he threw into CF
