QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 12, 2008 -> 07:47 AM) Paulie never was all that big. Any weight he may have lost was fat. One guy I noticed who has become a lot think but it hasn't affected his numbers is Aramis Ramirez. What? I think Aramis Ramirez looks really SLIM this year if anything

Steff, I was in Gamestop yesterday and they told me that shipments of Wii Fit are coming every other week. The Gamestop I was at (Roselle and Golf Rd, Schaumburg) had a copy there, I believe. The guy told me he was pretty sure he had it, but he didnt go get one and show it to me, so i am not 100 percent sure. Now the Wii console, not sure about that.

Too many things to list, but Im talking estate and all my friends with their own pads. But we would all get f***ed out of half that money by the government anyways

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 11, 2008 -> 09:09 PM) Twins win 3-2. We're up 2 at this point but after this domination by Texas we'll be 1.5 up. Prepare the doom and gloom threads

Yeah, since this game sucks right now (sox losing 7-2) Im getting hammered and going to chat. If anyone cares to join me and vent, feel free

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 11, 2008 -> 04:37 PM) Also we played the s*** out of kickball in my back yard. Anyone else have their school outlaw Red Rover? I think a lot of schools did this because kids were breaking wrists and arms. Kind of like how the game chubby bunny was outlawed. It sucks when stuff like that happens, because I had a great time playing games like that, but as the title of the thread suggests, people are sue happy anymore. Did any of you guys used to play baseball in the backyard with a tennis ball and a wiffle ball bat? We used to use the red "fat" bat as the power bat, and the yellow skinny "hard" bat as the contact bat. We would take the bats and wrap the sweet spot with duct tape to make it last as long as possible. I will tell you what, those red bats could really make the tennis ball take off because of the trampoline effect you would have hitting the ball. We never used gloves because it was a tennis ball, and because we could never field full teams(most of the time it was 4 on 4, sometimes even 2 on 2) we would have pitchers hand out, ghost runners, right field out, all the fun stuff. We would play all summer, until the first snow, and even sometimes with snow on the ground.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 11, 2008 -> 02:37 PM) 57 both times. those cops have a couple of really good hiding spots. I actually got nailed by a plane one time, going 79 MPH. Im driving along with my wife and I see 3 cops on the side of the road, the last cop points at me and points to the side of the road. He gets me out of the car and tells me that a plane clocked me and blah blah I get a ticket. I get in the car and my wife goes "i saw a blue plane flying back and forth in front of us and I thought nothing of it." I was so pissed Where that huge cross is past Salem, there is a curve where the cops can see you and get you on the gun before you see the cops.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 11, 2008 -> 12:10 PM) Two whole speeding tickets before I'm 21. Dumbest thing ever. Route 57 near evansville or Route 13 through Carterville?

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Jul 7, 2008 -> 06:56 PM) im watching the Red Sox/Twins game on ESPN right now, and they were discussing Varitek in the all-star game when Steve Phillips spits out this gem: ".....and AJ Pierzynski's offensive numbers support that he should be in the all-star game, but the all-star game isnt all about offensive numbers. the Catcher position is different than any other position, and I think people recognize how well Varitek handles Matsuzaka and this young Red Sox pitching staff." Are you f***ing kidding me? Does Phillips even watch the game? is he aware of how good the White Sox pitching staff is, and how young it is, and how well Pierzynski handles it? Every time i think Phillips cant top himself with something stupid coming out of his mouth, he does. Did someone submit this to Boers and Bernsteins "Who you crappin" yesterday? Bernstein read this in an email almost verbatim how I wrote this post.

Isnt Andruw Jones out with an injury to his knee?

Wait, they are asking for a Wii AND a Wii Fit? And you are considering it? Can I be a part of your family?

We played butts up in gym until it got banned because the soccer players made one kid cry because they got him so bad.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 11, 2008 -> 09:28 AM) You know this team's tendencies and Mark Buehrle's tendencies. They can't pitch over defensive mistakes. Knowing that, Konerko has to make that play. It wasn't like the throw was terribly bad, he just dropped it. Our bullpen is one of the best in the league. yes they can pitch over that. Buehrle is known for not being able to pitch over mistakes, but when he did Konerko muffed it. Im not denying that, I know Konerko screwed up, Im just not going to lay all the blame at his feet
-
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 11, 2008 -> 09:21 AM) Like it did yesterday? I know it's popular to blame Konerko, but for all of those saying that it wasn't just his fault, it was. Paulie's not only sucking with the bat, but also with the glove. I imagine his VORP is 20 points below 0. That's how bad he's been. Did Konerko throw the cookie to Guillen and Teahen? Did Konerko fail to throw the ball in resulting in a inside the park homerun? Im not denying that the floodgates opened after his error/non-error, but there is such thing as damage control, and the bullpen did not provide it.

I think you at least need to nunchuk for some of the excercises, but I dont know that you need any memory card. If you go to nintendo.com they should have the things you need in the game description. From the videos I have seen, it looks like the step board is the most important part of the game

This thread turned into something great. Just wanted to say that, lots of nostalgia for me
-
Yeah, Pauly is really struggling. If the team goes into some sort of a funk now that Konerko is back in the lineup, the headhunters are gonna get loud

The defensive switch is also a tough one to call last night as well. Lets say KC scored 2 runs anyways after the defensive switch(assuming BA in center and Swish at 1st). Then you go into the ninth down 1 and you have Thome-BA-Swisher up against Soria instead of Thome-Konerko-Swisher. Its a moot point anyways, but I can see the justification of keeping Konerko in the game at 1st. To me a good alternative move that could have been made last night would slide Swisher to left and BA in Center.

hmmmm, we played a different version of ghost in the graveyard. The ghost went out and hid, everyone counted, and then went looking for him. If you saw him, then you shouted "GHOST!" and ran back to the gool before the ghost tagged you. If you were tagged, you were it for the next round.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 11, 2008 -> 07:18 AM) I think they were broken up.... Yeah, they were def broken up. I just dont think they ever actually got married

QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Jul 11, 2008 -> 06:21 AM) Yep, in Ghost in the Graveyard, we used that same chant when heading off to find the Ghost. What about the "ocean free"/"oxen free" thing? My wife thinks I'm nuts and I need proof it's not just me. "Olly Olly Oxen Free!!!!!!" Again, no sense whatsoever. Did we yell that when everyone got back safe? I remember there was always someone who would never admit to being caught by the ghost and would cause some sort of a ruckus or spat about it.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 10, 2008 -> 04:29 PM) The homer Dunn hit was absolutely CRUSHED. Did you hear what Boers and Bernstein kept replaying? The TV call with Brenly and Kasper, the ball is hit and the whole crowd gasps and Kasper says "And it is now 10-5" and Brenly is in the background saying "It was windblown" I hope he was just kidding, but he sounded serious

QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Jul 10, 2008 -> 10:49 PM) Wow, that is it's own thread right there. I have had debates with adults who grew up all over the country about how certain games were played and what the different game details were. It's amazing how many state and even neighborhood variants there were for games like Ghost in the Graveyard and Kick the Can. The name of the safe spot is one example. Was it base, home, home base, goal?? for whatever reason, in my little corner of the south side, it was pronounced "gool" or "ghoul". I never had to think about how to spell it, but that's what it was. Then the details of being safe on gool. Could you stay there forever or was there some sort of limit? Our limit was the "It" person reciting the ever-popular "one, two three, get off my father's apple tree." My cracker-ass Florida wife thinks I just make this up, but I thell her that's how you play the game. Sometimes if you couldn't get all the way to gool, but someone was already there you could still be safe by grabbing to them, 'cuz, you know, "electricity!" I forgot about that rule! We used to make chains of people to reach out and get the last person getting chased to gool. And yes, we used the same word for the safe zone. I have no idea where it came from. When you guys did your countdown before everyone left gool, did you shout some wierd variation of "12 O'Clock Rock". We did. It made no sense, but we counted down "1 O'clock, 2 O'clock, 3 O'clock ROCK....."

QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Jul 11, 2008 -> 03:20 AM) People are afraid to publically criticize the dead. Everyone is glamorized. Except Anna Nicole Smith. Everyone laughed at that. I can't say anything about his performance, obviously, but Oscar-buzz generally translates well into a nomination. And if Heath's nominated, he's winning -- regardless of the competition. You just can't let a dead man lose an oscar, and all miss out on all the publicity it will generate! Let's not forget the potential heart-filled acceptance speech from, what I can only guess, will be his wife. She'll be welcomed to the stage by an uncomfortably long standing ovation. The cameras will include frequent shots of their daughter in the audience. Perfect drama for whichever network is carrying the Academy Awards. The Road will win Best Picture, too. I'm just throwing that out there right now and taking credit four months before its release. I understand what you are saying, but the buzz about his performance and a possible oscar nomination started before he died, and only intensified afterwards. But you are right about the speech, dead on. I dont know if Michelle Williams ever married him though.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 10, 2008 -> 05:08 PM) Holy crap! We used to play this all night when we were young. I remember how I was making a move to the safe point, or whatever we called it, and I had a clear path. So I went across our neighbors driveway but they had motion detectors on their lights and set it on and got caught. We used to have groups of 15 or more neighborhood kids play this at the same time, that game was legendary where we grew up. It sucks that everyone is so paranoid about letting their kids out of their sight anymore. it sucks even more that there is good reason for it
