QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jul 20, 2008 -> 12:39 PM) I don't think anyone said he will be nominated because he died. But, he'll clearly win now that he died and people going insane with praise. Even if there's a better performance before the Oscars roll around, Ledger has it wrapped up. Its a question that will forever remain rhetorical.

QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Jul 20, 2008 -> 11:40 AM) I just spent 2 weeks there and we hitchhiked around the Kenai Penninsula. Gas may be $8.50 in some remote places, but in Anchorage and the towns we were in it was more like $5. Yeah, I think she was telling me about this article, she didnt really expand on it too much http://in.reuters.com/article/lifestyleMol...846675020080718

I was interested in Alaska until my friend told me yesterday that gas prices are at 8.50 a gallon there right now. yeeeeeeeeeikes

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 20, 2008 -> 03:35 AM) But why all the injuries? What ya mean? Explain more. The way I look at it is this: Back in the day, if you didnt pitch, you didnt have a job. Pitchers had to adjust and persevere through everything because they didnt have trainers and doctors and agents and managers babying them and coddling them, mostly because they werent the investments that they are now. Pitchers were pitching on 3 and 4 man rotations, there was no such thing as pitch counts, pitchers went the entire game into extra innnings, Complete games were a necessity for a major league pitcher. The game itself is a diluted form from what it used to be. It doesnt make it bad, it just is different. There will probably be a 300 game winner some day again, but that pitcher is going to have to be dominant and healthy for a long time.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 20, 2008 -> 08:47 AM) The problem with getting him is Bowden wants about as much for his players as Chuck LaMar used to want for his. Chuck LaMar, I never understood what that guy ever tried to accomplish. He always asked for the moon and ended up with nothing, plus a losing team. At some point he had to realize that it wasnt working He must be selling insurance somewhere now

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 20, 2008 -> 08:35 AM) Someone else KW supposedly has an eye on: Ladson also reports that the White Sox and Rays are scouting closer Jon Rauch. Rauch, you may recall, came up as a starter with the Sox and was traded to the Expos in '04. Kenny Williams made that deal with Omar Minaya. I was thinking about him the other day, he was mentioned to be available on mlbtraderumors.com. Last I remember of him, his velocity was down around the time that he was traded due to a shoulder problem, if he is closing now he must have regained it.

I know its a mistype and all, but its still funny to read Street would be a nice setup guy, and also a great fill-in if Jenks has any recurrances. However, Beane is loading up right now and I am pretty sure he is going to get what he wants in regards to prospects.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 20, 2008 -> 01:24 AM) ABSOLUTELY! The IMAX experience only made it that much better. That screen is monstrous and the bass of the movie makes you feel almost like a part of the movie. It was just an overall incredible experience. So I've been thinking, if they made a 3rd one...which direction do they go in?

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jul 19, 2008 -> 05:39 PM) I'll counter that with saying that everyone is so high on this movie because they just saw it and are getting carried away. Maybe others, but not me. i love both movies, but the roles of each character in TDk are so much more defined, the conflict that Batman has to deal with is so much greater, I thought that it was a much better movie overall. there was no lull like there was in BB(the flashback scenes, any part of the movie containing Katie Holmes), it was just nonstop action.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jul 19, 2008 -> 02:42 PM) Ha, we might as well give Heath the Oscar now. Even if someone gives a better supporting performance, the fact that he died after filming combined with his "amazing," "incredible," "stunning," and "breathtaking" performance pretty much wraps it up for him. I already think the movie is going to annoy me soon with all the fellating going on. Batman Begins was better, despite Katie Holmes. the shock factor of how good Batman Begins was makes it seem like a better movie, but it doesnt hold a candle to the story and development of TDK in my opinion. We came in to the theatre knowing the characters and tone of The Dark Knight, and had expectations. With Batman Begins, we were all like "Ha, this needs to be better than "Batman and Robin""

I just dont agree that you should ignore draft picks because of past failures. Isnt the scouting department in the middle of an overhaul right now? Should we hold them accountable for the past regimes failures? And as Chisoxfn pointed out, even though you can consider some of those players busts, they still netted ML talent from trades.

the Sox arent gonna move Cabrera and switch Ramirez to short right now, too many things could go wrong here. Earlier in the year I was all for it, but that was before Ramirez became a regular. QUOTE (BlackBetsy @ Jul 19, 2008 -> 08:42 AM) Did a lot of good to have 4 picks in the 1999 draft.... http://www.baseball-reference.com/draft/?f...aft_type=junreg seriously you are referencing a draft 9 years ago as a reason why the Sox shouldnt want 2 draft picks?
