QUOTE(RME JICO @ Jul 8, 2007 -> 09:16 AM) chisox72, I agree 110%. Taking a step back, I think they made their minds up about Buehrle in the offseason. The guy was given the ball every opening day for several years, then all of a sudden you give the ball to someone else. Some will say that was because how he pitched in 2006, but if that was the case Garland would've gotten it once or twice based on performance. Didnt contreras pitch opening day in 2006?

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 09:34 PM) LMAO!!! Do you watch our games? Paulie is on fire, now at .263/.360/.495, and his OBP and SLG are both back to his career norms. He's on pace to set a career high for walks and have at 30 plus doubles (maybe set a new career high in that) and still on pace to hit about 30 homers (and climbing by the day). And he has had NO lineup protection behind him all season. Pass the crack over here, please. hmmm, i read that like it was supposed to be sarcastic. Maybe i looked at it wrong

QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 09:23 PM) All this from Dwight Shrute While on the subject Michael Scott = Kenny Williams in boosing morale? Thats what she said!

QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 09:18 PM) #3 ? Is that a combo platter or something that is not permitted to be discussed in threads? I wanted to ask, but I didnt have the guts. I think RME has a special talent that we are not aware of

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 09:17 PM) I can't believe I'm saying this, but agreed on all counts. thats an easy thing to agree with, the Marlins are gluttons of talent. If they somehow drew an owner with the willingness to spend on a stadium(with a retractable roof) and on players, they would easily be able to maintain a highly competitive club from this point forward.

QUOTE(premo @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 09:13 PM) If what I just read on ESPN.com is true, and they don't resign him somehow, then I'm going to have a real hard time paying money to see, listen, or watch this team as long as Kenny Williams has anything to do with the organization. In short, this is bulls***, and it's hard to root for a team whose management treats players like Mark Buehrle this way. And for anyone that says "see ya" or "dont let the door hit you on the way out" or something similar...that's fine, just keep your head in the sand and watch Kenny Williams, and the rest of the front office run this team back into the ground. Where is that guy?

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 09:02 PM) Hey if you are going to agree with the organization basically saying they don't want any high draft picks or top free agents ever, that's your problem. But if your going to call me out personally for having the opinion that basically everybody on this board except you and a few other people with a....different perspective have, I'm not just going to ignore it. Call out all the people that agree with me on this too, it's not like I'm being a chicken little to say not signing an elite lefty for below market price is being unreasonable. thats not what you said. you said "Enjoy 2005 everybody, it won't happen again until we have a new GM and Owner." Knee Jerk Over Reaction Which is where I started teasing you about Chicken little and the sky is falling. I never once said I support this decision, I dont. But I also dont believe that the Sox will all the sudden become the Pittsburgh Pirates after having one bad half of a season and (possibly) trading away Buehrle QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 09:03 PM) Skiles didn't want a no trade clause. lol, this is true
-
QUOTE(TheHolyBovine @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 09:00 PM) In "internet land"? google it and get over it already, jeez
-
You know what this whole situation reminds me of? When Scott Skiles got his extension in 2005. All sides hated each other and then a deal magically appeared when Skiles met with Reinsdorf. Its why I am holding out hope

QUOTE(TheHolyBovine @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 08:52 PM) If you're going to be a d-bag, at least get your spelling right. That IS the correct spelling, lol

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 08:50 PM) So you think avoiding baseball's most important agent and not giving your best pitcher a really cheap deal over a NTC that only matters until 2010, and refusing to give any NTC's is a direction toward success? If you do, that's fine and your problem, but don't blame me for having enough of a brain to know what direction we are heading in. Listen man, enough with the jabs. You are a self admitted over-reactionist, dont start slinging crap because I dont agree with you that the world just ended because the Sox are considering, not even concluded with, trading Mark buehrle. we all have to read your stuff every day, but we dont have to agree with it. I have known you on this site for a long time and you should know that I am messing with you, Chicken little. Deal with it or keep yelling the sky is falling, but dont get mad at me because I dont agree
-
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 08:47 PM) Nice Red X. Do you work for the organization? Your posts are suddenly make me wonder. No it doesn't, but if you refuse to talk to the biggest agent in the game and give no trade clauses, you can't win. It was a picture of chicken little until a second ago. Woe is me, woe is you, the sky is falling! The "corporate guy" jab was humorous, Joe Public
-
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 08:44 PM) Can you read or see, Hellen Keller? I've admitted I wanted us to trade Mark UNTIL I saw 4/56 and a NTC is all he wanted. To not give somebody that good 4/56 a NTC, AND THEN when he gives in still say no means you don't want him. And we will NEVER win if we refuse to give any players a NTC or talk to Boras clients. It's not that hard to understand. Right. New owner. New GM. That all equals a world series /waits for sky to fall some more
-
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 08:41 PM) The Sox obviously don't want Mark Buehrle back, AND they won't give NTC's or talk to Boras. Enjoy 2005 everybody, it won't happen again until we have a new GM and Owner. did you break your jaw with that kneejerk, Mariotti?

QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 05:13 PM) And how many times do people say...don't worry, he'll regain it as the season goes on. I just want to know how you lose 5 to 6 mph in a year and a half? Isnt it common for pitchers with Tommy John surgery to have a "jacked-up" am when they return from the surgery, only to have the velocity slowly drop to where they were before the surgery? Im not saying this is definitely what happened with Bobby, but it is a possibility considering he had screws put into his arms. Just a thought

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 11:42 AM) I don't recall the original show making masturbation jokes, or having Spike act like Richard Prior scared out of his mind. Why would you shoot metal bullets at a robot if it's the first time you ever saw it? I just wished people wouldn't have reacted like nothing was going on when a police car turns into a giant robot. Compare how the characters reacted in Jurassic park even though they knew they were going to be seeing dinosaurs. Sorry, this movie sucked hardcore. The 1986 cartoon was way better. Sorry, I refuse to look for realism in a movie about Giant Chameleon robots from outer space based on a 1980's cartoon. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 11:42 AM) or having Spike act like Richard Prior scared out of his mind. ?

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 12:55 AM) Holy crap, Transformers was bad. The first 1:15:00 was nothing but campy jokes that were on a level lower than "Not another Teen Movie." Am I the only one who thinks it completely f***ing crazy to see people's natural reaction to a living cyborg be shooting the bejesus out of it with bullets? By the end of the movie it started to look like a GM commercial as I was just waiting for the "Magic Carpet Ride" music to kick in. The Camaro looks better than a C6 Corvette, but not a C5. B) Yeah, I was totally looking for more realism there Campy jokes huh? Have you ever seen the original show? I(and my 8-12 year old alter ego) thought it was awesome.

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 09:11 PM) The guy who played all the tapes. Soundwave was pretty upset he was left out of the movie

These jokes are considerably less funny to those of us not privy to the info that KW and Buehrle possess

QUOTE(Mplssoxfan @ Jul 5, 2007 -> 09:47 PM) I think you contradicted yourself with this very post, my friend. Ozzie probably figured that Danks will have a little extra rest so let's let him throw over 100 pitches tonight -- an added benefit will be a little extra rest for the pen. which is sorely needed with a doubleheader tomorrow
-
Why couldnt Ozzie tell Parrish to throw Gooch a strike? What awful managing
-
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 5, 2007 -> 09:27 PM) I was utterly bewildered he left Danks in. If this were Mark or Jon or Javy even ok, but Danks is a rookie and had been struggling for a while until his last outing. We were up 8, he had thrown 6 strong and 100 pitches and there we no need at all to leave him out there for the 7th. Our pen can hold an 8 run lead. I don't see how this point is unreasonable. The point is unreasonable because you want Danks to progressively go deeper into games and learn how to manage the game. Pulling him before the 7th started when he is winning by 8, after only giving up 2 would look crazy and premature.
