Appalachian St has opened the door for 1-AA (FCS) teams to get votes in the AP poll. I have to say it is really nice to see that the BCS teams arent the only ones getting the attention anymore, and they arent the only ones with the really good teams either.

Sox vs. Tigers- 12:05pm
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 6, 2007 -> 06:35 PM) Ok, you obviously don't understand what you posted so I'll help you out. When they mention "ISO" they're speaking of the difference between Batting average and Slugging percentage or Isolated power. They pointed out how between high A (2005) and AA (2006) Danny lost a good amount of power as his numbers show; 237 ISO in '05 down to a 123 ISO in '06 this dramatic fall came from a large dropoff in HRs (20 to 8). In that small blurb they state that Danny does have 2 very distinct skill sets; speed and the ability to get on base (knows how to draw a walk) but without the power (which had disappeared between high A and AA) he shouldn't be viewed as an everyday player. So in the eyes of those who wrote that piece if Danny could hit for power he would then become more than just a utility infielder, ie: an everyday player. Since being traded earlier this year Danny has shown off his power potential sporting an IsoP (isolated power) of close to 200 in 133 ABs at Charlotte and hitting 4 HR since being recalled a little over a month ago. So for you to say "he has not changed 1 bit from this report" would be a fallacy because Danny has improved upon that line you posted, he's shown that he still has that good pop and has shown the potential to be an everyday player at the major league level.

Products we don't need, but cool
I have seen those grocery list printer thingys before. They call them label-makers too Even when I write a grocery list, I always seem to stick it in my pocket and forget about it at the store and shop by memory. And i rarely forget things at the store.

Senator Larry Craig convicted of lewd conduct in men's bathroom
QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 4, 2007 -> 02:01 PM) I understand that ignorance of the law is not a valid defense, but as noted here, no one knew that was a "signal" so you would not know it is illegal to tap youir foot and reach under a stall. Remember, he did not engage in a sex act, nor did he make a verbal offer. His crime was tapping his foot and reaching under the stall. I believe the officer should have made the suspect clearly solicate, just like on COPS with prostitution stings. Just having a prostitute walk up to your car doesn't get you busted. The parallel I would draw is stopping near a hooker would get you busted. The hand signals and behavior before he entered the stall(hanging around looking inside) and after he entered the stall(propping his luggage against the door, tapping the foot, waving the hand) indicate interest according to the police who have to bust people for that in the airport. I could understand if he tapped the officers foot and they busted him, but thats not what happened. Craig went above and beyond tapping the foot, he gave as many signals as possible without actually saying he was interested. I dont equate this as having a hooker near your car. I equate this with trying to wave a hooker over to your car while making a BJ motion at the same time.

Lets revisit a trade that didn't happen
QUOTE(striker62704 @ Sep 2, 2007 -> 01:16 PM) Garland 8-10 ERA 4.89 IP 169 H 189 BB 51 K 78 Taveras R 60 H 110 HR 2 RBI 23 SB 29 OBP .361 AVG .313 J Hirsh 5-7 ERA 4.81 IP 112.1 H 103 BB 48 K 75 T Buchholz 6-4 ERA 4.32 IP 85.1 H 96 BB 16 K 55 This is a tough one because Garland had a pretty good first half but a terrible second half. Our terrible offense wasn't any help either. What sucks now is that Garland has only hurt his value (see Jose Contreras). It would have been nice to have Taveras's speed and two young pitchers, plus $10 mil to blow on someone else. I personally wished we made this trade in the offseason. But then maybe the Texas or Philadelphia trades don't go down, both of which I liked. Thoughts? hindsight is 20/20

QUOTE(farmteam @ Sep 1, 2007 -> 09:48 AM) Does it make me a bad person for wanting to see Leftwich on the Bears? I read a few articles about him this morning, and they seemed to indicate that Leftwich's work ethic is strongly questioned, as is his motivation to stay at the top of his game once he is given the starting job. Doesnt sound like something Angelo would be up for
