  1. yay for threads that feature scantily clad pictures of Lisa Dergen!
  2. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Jan 9, 2006 -> 03:52 PM) War Of the Worlds wasn't his own story. It was based on the book by HG Wells, written in 1898. I didnt say that WotW was his story. Come on KG, Im not that dumb. I dont think Spielberg did a good job on WotW or Jurassic Park, but he has done well with his own stories and collaborative stories he has written (Indiana Jones, ET, Close Encounters, etc), but I dont think he does that well with movies that he translates from books.
  3. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Jan 9, 2006 -> 02:36 PM) The Cave...it was the second movie of a drive-in double-header. It was absolutely terrible. It was about thrill seekers venturing into an underwater cave. They run into some creatures and then whatever. It was terrible. I think they made that a show and call it "Surface" now.
  4. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Jan 9, 2006 -> 01:34 PM) I liked War of the Worlds for the most part. I think it was sort of a reminder of how good a storyteller Spielberg is. I really liked Tim Robbins performance. Yeah, when he tells his own stories he is a good storyteller. He butchers other peoples stories though. I still havent forgiven him for the atrocities that have followed Jurassic Park in that series. He should have renamed it "Whatever and Wherever the hell I want to do with Dinosaurs Park", and told Michael Crichton to stop writing books that make the story better.
  5. that guy got what he deserved, IMO. If you are gonna trap a mouse and let it go, fine. If you are going to trap-kill a mouse, well thats fine with me too. But this guy was more or less torturing that thing while trying to kill it.
  6. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 9, 2006 -> 03:13 PM) Find one item in print that proves this... just one. I hear something.....
  7. QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Jan 9, 2006 -> 12:20 PM) I don't understand why so many of you "posters" are so concerned with team finances. The Sox are making a FORTUNE! The season ticket base is almost double from last year to this year...they are making a ton of $. They can't "cry poor" anymore! They have to be operating on a proposed budget, they cant be putting themselves in an overextended position just because they won the world series last year, and bank on the fact that they will do it again. Baseball is too much of a game of chance to be sure that the Sox will be making enough money to be able to support every move proposed around here. They arent crying poor. But that doesnt mean they should start throwing money around like Steinbrenner.
  8. QUOTE(longshot7 @ Jan 9, 2006 -> 02:20 PM) Owens will win the starting centerfielder job, mark my words. Rookie of the Year. consider your words marked.
  9. QUOTE(Dam8610 @ Jan 9, 2006 -> 01:16 PM) Has anyone ever fouled off NINE consecutive pitches before? I just found that tidbit hilarious: Remember when Alex Cora fouled off like 18 pitches(no joke, I know he passed 14 pitches at least) against Matt Clement 2 years ago, before he finally hit a homerun? But to say Juan Uribe did it, against a league that is well known for their junk-ball pitchers, thats just laughable.
  10. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Jan 6, 2006 -> 11:27 PM) http://toronto.bluejays.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb...t=.jsp&c_id=tor Great to see the Twins miss out on this Sox killer. I checked out bat-girl's blog for the first time in a while and was really surprised at her reaction to the Twins failing to acquire Koskie. I cant tell if she is more grossed out that the Twins acquired Batista or if she is heartbroken that they failed to acquire Koskie. Either way, i wouldnt think Koskie would get that much ink from her.
  11. QUOTE(hi8is @ Jan 9, 2006 -> 06:22 AM) hey... at least she likes other women! One of the less informed things you have said. It was a bad song, but jeez take it down a notch, she wasnt ripping the White Sox. This isnt bat-girl coming up with b**** Sox and calling Ozzie "Darth Vader", this is a fan who is in a music genre that none of us really follow(or appreciate). QUOTE(wilmot825 @ Jan 8, 2006 -> 03:46 PM) Why....Why? This is crap, this b**** should sing for the Cubs, they like s*** like this cant anyone stop at "I dont like it"? Total disrespect
  12. Aside from the looniness in the above posts, 720 AM was talking about this on Thursday. They said that the FBI wanted to check to see about this cell phone records company, and found out that the records could be obtained in about 30 minutes. There was a small discussion about how worried they were that bigger drug dealers will be obtaining these records to find out if anyone is snooping on them, among other things.
  13. Cries himself to sleep listening to Bananarama's "Cruel Summer" every night.
  14. QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Jan 9, 2006 -> 09:50 AM) was my b**** at espn, and is my b**** at soxtalk... wishes someone was really his b****
  15. QUOTE(fathom @ Jan 8, 2006 -> 10:54 PM) Why would you take Vazquez over those guys? Unlike Vazquez, the other Sox pitchers have proven that their numbers won't inflate due to pitching at the Cell. As of right now, I'm just as confident in McCarthy as I am Vazquez. I know you like Vazquez, which is fine. He has dynamic stuff, and can go a lot of innings. The great thing about this is that we're talking about 6 very good pitchers....not many teams in the last few decades can claim the same thing. i dont understand why we should have to choose. At this point, the 5 starters with the most MLB experience are Contreras, Garcia, Buehrle, Garland and Vazquez, not McCarthy. I love McCarthy's stuff and makeup, but he is probably going to have to come to terms with being the 6th starter/long reliever this year, and I dont really think this is going to hurt him in the long run anyways. Besides, you dont put a pitcher with Vazquez' salary in long relief, and you dont trade him when your top 4 pitchers logged over 200 innings last year. Its a non-factor for me, unless a starter is traded, I see McCarthy starting the year in the pen. And you are right fathom, we are talking about 6 very good pitchers.....one year after having 5 very good pitchers and one sometimes good pitcher.
  16. QUOTE(SnB @ Jan 8, 2006 -> 04:03 PM) posted a pic of his girlfriend like 5 years ago i can't believe i remember that. cant believe he remembers that
  17. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Jan 8, 2006 -> 04:22 PM) I'm positive there won't be another 8 sack performance against the Panthers this time. Maybe I'll be eating my words in a week, but I'm guessing not. The Panthers may be a little better prepared next week, but the Bears also changed QBs since their last meeting, and their D-line isnt going to be pinning their ears back and coming all out against Rex like they did to Orton, they know Rex can beat them. I think both teams evened the playing ground since they last met, and its gonna be a great game.
  18. Manning was dreadful today, the NY media is not going to be kind tomorrow.
  19. QUOTE(JimJab @ Jan 8, 2006 -> 01:07 AM) I think he's pass the point of maturing in his life. He's just low-life scum. He made bad, selfish decisions. he didnt kill someone or rob someone. Low life scum is a pretty off-base assessment of someone you dont know. He needs to get his head on straight and stop believing he is the next coming of Michael Vick(who accomplished way more when he was at Vatech). And he needs to stop hitting on 15 year olds.
  20. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jan 7, 2006 -> 11:47 PM) Likes Campbell's Tomato Soup... Doesnt like being the youngster in the chat room
  21. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Jan 7, 2006 -> 06:06 PM) How can you say Clemens is past his prime? He had an ERA below 2 this season. Because he is over 40. I didnt say he sucked, but lets be real here, when he was in his 20's he was even more dominating. Now he has tons of experience to fall back on and it makes him better, but Clemens aint getting any younger. I dont think he is bad at all, but everyone loses a little when they get older. Clemens had to learn the splitter to maintain his (unbelieveable) effectiveness, and he mastered it. The 20 year old Roger didnt need that splitter, he was just that damn good.
