Man denied bag says Angels discriminated
Kyyle23 replied to southsideirish71's topic in The Diamond Club
I have been to games where I didnt recieve a Miller Lite promotion t-shirt because I wasnt over 21 years old. I have also been to games where kids 12 and under got replica wooden bats. This guy is way off base, just because you go to a game doesnt mean you are entitled to what it being given away. Some people will sue for anything. -
Too bad we couldnt see what it looked like when it was alive. You know, when it wasnt paying attention when the hunter sneaked up on it and blew it away with a bullet the length of my hand.....

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ May 9, 2006 -> 10:23 AM) Those three guys HATE one another, a reunion would floor me. Thats why I posted this, I never thought Axl would even consider playing with those guys again. Maybe Axl finally realized that he wasnt the only one on the previous records.

QUOTE(Iwritecode @ May 11, 2006 -> 04:12 PM) I've been turned off by the touch-screen since the first time I saw it. It was a display model in a store and the screen was all scratched up. I was suprised the touch-screen still even worked... Well yeah, all display models in stores are beat to hell. Kind of a poor choice to do with a handheld like that. I have some friends that have a DS, and their touch screens arent all scratched up and beaten up. They take care of it.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 11, 2006 -> 12:30 PM) I go to at least 1 cubs game a year either for work, or to appease my cub fan sister. I have worn my sox hat numerous times, and never once was I afraid. hey 5000 posts, nice I didnt even notice. Sweet.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 11, 2006 -> 12:27 PM) You can always hope Kyle. The wedding ring on my finger suggests hope is gone.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 11, 2006 -> 12:26 PM) He knows more about the Cubs than most Cubs fans. Yep. And watches the games a lot too. And goes through the game photos to find stuff like he posted. Quite disturbing I see you added the Thome Silhouette back into your sig, NICE

QUOTE(S720 @ May 11, 2006 -> 12:24 PM) This is another thing I hate from posters! Why don't you go and apply for the manager position then? You think you know how to handle the bullpen. If your bullpen blows, regardless of who you are, you will LOSE MANY games. Whoa, settle down there. This isnt an angry debate

QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ May 11, 2006 -> 12:20 PM) Jenks is the last of this teams bullpen worries. Before 2 out of his last 3 outings he was looking great. I'd be much more worried about why BMAC was pulled, and then why Cotts was pulled--that stuff is on Ozzie. Oz seems to have no idea how to handle the bullpen right now. Jenks needs to be brought in at the start of innings. He isn't overworked at all. If 14.1 IP so far is "overworked", I'd hate to normal use. I think BMAC was pulled as a precautionary measure because they are just stretching him out right now. He threw 54 pitches IIRC, and they want him to be ready for Monday with no arm tire.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 11, 2006 -> 12:15 PM) eh, the butt is sub par. We cannot all have the beauties displayed previously in your avatar, Rock. Sometimes just enough is good enough

QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ May 11, 2006 -> 12:01 PM) On a side note, I had my bosses seats last night, first row behind the Dodger dugout. I got Tomko's attention when he came off the field in the sixth and told him Pierzynski sends his love. I know - lame. But I was bored and it was a blowout. LOL, too bad you cant tell AJ that, he might slip you $100

QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ May 11, 2006 -> 11:52 AM) I disagree. I think the Cubs are iconic in Chicago, like the lakefront or Michigan Ave. And trust me, I hate the Cubs. Even moreso their fans. Attendance-wise you're right, it has historically been cyclical, but think about it: the Cubs are in a win/win position. If they suck for years ahead (as they apparently will), they bank on that whole "loveable loser" mystique. If they somehow get in the running, then it becomes the whole "curse-ending" attraction. Or, even the fact that we won it and they haven't. Me personally I do not want the Sox to become Cubs-like in attendance. No, that does not mean I want a return to 14,000 paid games because I'm some nostalgist who's bitter that the bandwagon showed up, and it's apparently pretty damn full. Let me put it this way: I like being the Stones to their Beatles. Dig? However, I could be wrong. Let's make it a gentleman's bet. I say that, in the next decade, the Sox will never surpass the Cubs no matter how many WS we win. Also factor in the idea that, regardless of the team... location, location, location. Are we on? Uh uh, I think the time for the loveable loser mystique has come and gone. I think the cubs fans got a taste of success, and losing is no longer tolerable, especially knowing that the Tribune company has deep pockets.

QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ May 11, 2006 -> 11:01 AM) What is with everybody's knee-jerk response that I'm bashing Jenks because he had one bad outing? I'm not. I'm SAYING that I'd like to have more options besides Jenks and his--face it--94 MPH fastball right now. Southside, you're right: it was unfortunately a reminder of the 2004 Sox when we had the guaranteed loss when the fifth "starter" would come on (remember Arnie Munoz? BLAHHHH!). But whatever. This all happened because Jose was hurt so it's sort of moot. But it was what it was: Jenks didn't have it last night, and by the time he left, we weren't coming back. Whatever, one game. Big deal. But I stick by my concern that everybody will "figure out" Jenks if we only rely on him. So you want closer-by-committee?

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 11, 2006 -> 10:49 AM) What team in the league is a few closers deep. Maybe Houston should ditch Lidge, because he cant handle it anymore also. Actually what you saw last night, was typical of the sox in 2004. The 5th starter would go out there, and give up the farm. The team would rally within a run, and then it would be out of reach. Be happy with what we have today. Now we have 5 good starters that keep us in the game all the time. What a great situation to be in. Heager didnt do the job, McCarthy will on Monday. Im excited to see McCarthy get the start

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 11, 2006 -> 10:47 AM) The Sox and Angels both have offdays on May 25th, July 27th, and August 7th. In case anyone was wondering. looks like they are going to have to make it happen on one of those days http://www.weather.com/weather/hourbyhour/...225?from=search Im not seeing much hope for a game tonite in this forecast. And if a game is played, its gonna be freezing

QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ May 11, 2006 -> 10:40 AM) I went to a game a few years ago, against the Pirates, and a guy who was a true Pirates fan caught a HR by Aramis Ramirez ( this was in 2001, when he was still a Pirate). He didn't throw it back. This crazy fan beat the s*** out of him, pulled the ball lose, and then threw it to home one a 1-hop. That scarred me for life. I was only a few seats away. GMAB, I dont believe that for a second. If something like that happened, it would be all over the news. Everytime a homerun is hit, the camera zeroes in on the guy who caught the ball, especially if he throws the ball back. That s*** would be all over ESPN in a second.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 11, 2006 -> 10:38 AM) You do not simply "Figure out" a 97 mph plus fastball if it's thrown for strikes. You just can't. Jenks has a changeup and a slider. He had them back when he was starting. Now, he doesn't need it. He's a reliever, he's not pitching to an entire lineup. Thornton pitched after Jenks, btw. Here's the real worry with Jenks's fastball...if he's not hitting 97+, then people aren't out ahead enough on his curveball. That pitch dominates because of his fastball. Bobby gets that fastball back up a little bit more and this conversation ends. Sadly, this conversation will never end. Everytime he has one bad outing, people are gonna come out of the woodwork crying that he is figured out. It happens every time. I am only going to start getting worried when Bobby is consistently blowing saves, then it will be a problem. But the guy has been damn near lights out this year in save situations, so im not going to get worked up over Bobby coming in on a non-save situation and giving up a few runs.

QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ May 11, 2006 -> 10:29 AM) Can we stop with the rain excuses? I was there and yes, it did not start raining hard until we had obviously pisssed the game away. It was almost bibical, come to think of it. Jenks I love but I worry that everybody's figured him out and we've got our '06 version of Takatsu. In his defense, he had a bad night. Whatever. It's gonna happen. What actually worries me is that we only have one "closer." We need options besides Jenks. Unless he comes up with a killer changeup IMO, people are gonna figure him out sooner or later. People also forget that, last night, the guy after Jenks (Thorton? Logan?) gave up another two runs including a dinger. Not good. Our bullpen is our achilles' heel right now, unless you think we can trot out Big Bad Bobby to save every game. BTW our starter was terrible. Every pitch that guy threw was high. But I don't blame him for the loss because we managed to score 5 runs with 2 outs. Then Jenks lost it for us. Period. We need a plan "B" for a closer. Not to rip on Jenks--I love the guy. But you can't have just one. What makes you think he is figured out?
-
I would like to add that it may be a little harder to bring his velocity up in the rain like that. Lets be honest, it started pouring in the 9th inning, who knows if Bobby just dialed it down a little more to get a little more command with his fastball. Just a thought

Telling people to mind their own business, and at the same time trying to bust someone on thier choice of avatar. Isnt that rich? lol Oh yeah, Ill say what I want also.
