QUOTE(Dick Allen @ May 11, 2006 -> 07:59 AM) This game has rainout written all over it. Thats what I was thinking. Too bad, this Kelvim Escobar-Ozzie Guillen feud had me really interested tonite, I was wondering if anything was going to come of it.

QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ May 10, 2006 -> 06:08 PM) The Nintendo conference was awesome. Super Mario Galaxy looks the best of the games so far, along with Red Steel. No s*** Super Mario Galaxy looks cool. Im really excited about getting at that new Wii controller, it seems like it has many uses in these games.

QUOTE(JimH @ May 11, 2006 -> 07:38 AM) I'm quite relaxed, thanks for your concern. Clevaland Indians avatars on a White Sox fansite = stirring the pot. Addison is right. He has had that avatar for quite some time. You are trying to stir the pot by acting like this. Let it alone, its a friggin picture. He doesnt sing the praises of the Indians, does he?

QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ May 10, 2006 -> 07:01 PM) How would you ever get thru? Cubs fans are some of the more hostile people and they'd smash your car!! you act as if all Cubs fans are the same person. Did you get beat up by a Cubs fan? Because you talk about the possibility a lot.

Off the GM topic, I was watching a little bit of the Cardinals-Rockies game on ESPN yesterday, and Stone had me cracking up. He was ribbing Phillips about firing Clint Hurdle as a Minor League manager in the Mets organization, and then started talking about how Steve Phillips has fired everyone he could. Phillips just kept saying "You guys are brutal!", it was great.

Will the rain be gone by gametime?

Why are managers reluctant to bring in their closers
Kyyle23 replied to Benchwarmerjim's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE(Benchwarmerjim @ May 10, 2006 -> 03:47 PM) say your team is up 3 runs, but during the 8th inning the set up man melts down and allows 2 runs in. Why do a lot of managers keep thier bigmoney closer in the pen and hope that the lead is still there in the 9th? completely hypothetical situation, right? The Twins have been money out of the pen in the past 5 years or so. I think Gardenhire is still going with the formula that he is accustomed to. Its different for every manager though. Consider Ozzie, he goes with the matchups(which infuriurates many around here), then think about Torre, who puts Mariano Rivera in if he has a lead in the ninth. Of course, Jason Isringhausen and Eric Gagne were known for coming in for the 2 inning save, and Izzy has not been the same since his 2nd year removed from Oakland, and Gagne's elbow is falling apart again. I dont think there is any real formula to it, I think managers go with their gut for the most part. -
QUOTE(aboz56 @ May 10, 2006 -> 03:47 PM) Wow does Mota suck. After Cleveland came back to tie it, he just gave up HRs to Guiel and Berroa. It's 10-8 KC, bottom 8th. He hasnt been the same since he ran into the dugout away from Piazza

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 10, 2006 -> 03:01 PM) Back to knotted at 5-5. And that hard hitting Paul Bako makes it 6-5 K.C. 8-5 on a 2 run Kerry Robinson triple off of Mota. With the way the sox owned Kerry Robinson over the past series, its hard for me to believe that the guy can actually get a hit. They had him all kinds of confused at the plate

QUOTE(WinningUgly85 @ May 10, 2006 -> 03:08 PM) you know what we do. We should drive by wrigley field, right by the protest and hold up a sign that says Grinder ball rule number 1908: While we parade, they protest. 1-0 Good guys. Honking the horn. Haha! That would be hilarious!

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 10, 2006 -> 02:43 PM) During a pennant chase...late in the season...after the Sox had won 2 in a row from the Yanks... Yeah, I had an extremely sick feeling in my stomach when that whole deal came about. One of Jerry Manuels head scratchers that really had no chance of succeeding. Cotts had to be perfect that day, and that is just unfair. QUOTE(aboz56 @ May 10, 2006 -> 02:45 PM) Cotts made his major league debut against Anaheim, not the Yankees. Did i say it was his ML debut? edit: I didnt mean for that to come off as being snotty. I was questioning if I said it was his ML debut, which I knew it wasnt. But it was a spot start for Cotts and Manuel really dropped a ton of pressure on Cotts shoulders.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ May 10, 2006 -> 12:52 PM) IMO, this game is could go two ways. 1.Charlie makes LAA look like idiots, and its incredibly fun to watch... or..... 2.This game is more frustrating and worse than Cotts in the Bronx... Well, to be fair Cotts was really thrown to the wolves that day. At least Heager has the benefit of pitching at home, whereas Cotts had to throw against the best offense in the league, in the bronx.

QUOTE(bmags @ May 9, 2006 -> 11:07 PM) was freddy throwing fastballs or primarily off speed stuff? His fastball had much more life to it, and he was spotting it much better. He seemed to have a sinker working really well, and struck out Chone Figgins on it a few times. it started about 4 inches off of the left side of the plate and broke right into the black of the plate. Freddy had his stuff working today for sure.

http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2439321 He seems to be a bit out of line to me. He initiated the fight. So what if Lackey was jawing at him, he never talked s*** before?

Britney Spears just announced on Dave Letterman that she got knocked up again. Kevin Federline has at least 9 more months of spousal support!

QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ May 9, 2006 -> 11:03 PM) So that means we gotta stick with blue or am I missing something? sounds like its gonna be blue for us until further notice

QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 9, 2006 -> 10:58 PM) I like waiting until all the games are over so the AL Ranking will be completely up to date. btw, I really liked the jordan-esque Thome silhouette you had going in your sig a few weeks ago. I thought that was really cool looking

Responces must be mispelled like sentances in this thread?

QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 9, 2006 -> 10:56 PM) Haha, which I could I can't make artsy s***, most everything I make looks straight forward and with almost a mechanical scheme. you need to get to the choppa with the sig you have, it needs some updatin'

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ May 9, 2006 -> 10:51 PM) Oh snap! The banner works good on FireFox now! yep, everything is all centered and pretty now for me too. Are the old skins going to be available again? I used to have the silver and black one, but I really want the pink one.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ May 9, 2006 -> 10:45 PM) Im not sure whats worse, there staff or there pen. I trolled a Tribe board during spring just because I could , and thats all they could talk about with the Sox, is how bad the our pen is. My how have the tables have turned..... To be truthful, theirs would be much better off with a healthy Betancourt and Miller, but I dont know if Miller could be counted on to remain healthy. Betancourt was put on the 15 day DL, right? He should probably come off soon.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ May 9, 2006 -> 10:43 PM) They talked to Oz after the game, and there wasnt really anything to say that isnt new. Its almost boring to talk about this team. Im sure it might come as a surprise to some out of towners, but its very hard to find Sox talk on sports radio in Chicago. There just isnt much to say. They kick the s*** out of everyone, and thats pretty much it. I love being a Sox fan right now. There is nothing better. Yeah, it is nice to have the media focused on kicking around the northsiders a little bit, while they just play Sox highlights and say "Well, they won again...." I mean, Contreras on the DL isnt even a blip on the anxiety radar for the writers and sportstalkers.

QUOTE(Texsox @ May 9, 2006 -> 10:43 PM) So Jas, you sold out to Gates? Which green are we using? Damn it, I've got to know. Could I have my own green, I use it so much, I wouldn't want to run out. so thats why it isnt firefox friendly..... so many colors to choose from for sarcasm. Do we use, lite green, teal green, forest green. We can show if we are REALLY sarcastic, or just a bit sarcastic

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 9, 2006 -> 10:40 PM) That was a really impressive win. I love the fact that the Sox are handling the Angels much in the same way they have handled the Sox in the past 10 years. It didnt matter how good or bad they were, they always had the Sox number. Not this year! (so far)
