  1. QUOTE(Pierzynski 12 @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 03:30 PM) What because im pissed off.Right....................... you are just begging for a "vacation", arent you? : :headshake
  2. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 03:24 PM) ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Can't even imagine how Rowand is feeling, or guys like AJP and Joe. AJP has seen this before when he was in a Twins uniform. Also, the guys in the clubhouse know that Jim Thome is a wrecking ball in the batters box, they know what this means to this offense. The offseason has just begun, my interest is now piqued.
  3. All I can say is that Thome better not have any back issues this year. Not one.
  4. Report: White Sox Trading For Thome Jim Thome Sources have told ESPN The Magazine's Buster Olney that the Phillies are on the verge of trading first baseman Jim Thome to the White Sox for center fielder Aaron Rowand. The deal is expected to include major cash considerations due to the size of Thome's contract.
  5. QUOTE(shakes @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 12:31 PM) It's the fastest growing city in the country and they wouldn't have any trouble finding financing for a stadium. I think it's a real possibility. I know its the fastest growing city and money wouldnt be a problem. The problem is gambling and its close proximity to a game that prohibits gambling. Selig has enough problems with the credibility of baseball with the steroid issues, he wont put himself in a position where the outcomes in the games are in question.
  6. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 09:51 AM) Sorry, but this is a pet peave of mine. Where did this come from? What is the source? It's frustrating to see what looks like a news excerpt, but could be something pulled off of a fantasy site (as has happened here before) or just about anywhere else. Please cite your sources, folks. Thanks. Wow, a pet peave of mine is laying down ground rules on a messageboard in which you have only 194 posts.
  7. Omar Minaya is just going to keep spending until he gets it right, apparently. I think him and Isiah Thomas go to the same GM school.
  8. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 08:32 AM) How exactly is it irresponsible to not give Las Vegas a team? I think the whole gambling element lends a bit of irresponsibility itself. Vegas doesnt need a team, too much liability.
  9. The Marlins or any Florida team for that matter need a stadium that will meet their needs weather wise. Tampa has it(i guess), Florida needs it. I always thought that if given a better stadium situation the Marlins would draw better, but it looks like the owners will never approach that situation.
  10. QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 22, 2005 -> 06:13 AM) I'm shocked that the resident defender hasn't swooped in here to scold you that these are "just allegations" at this point.. :headshake I thought the same thing
  11. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 08:06 PM) Have any of you heard any of that Stapp thing??? It sounds even more like Creed than Alter Bridge. I mean, it is basically EXACTLY like everything Creed did that was a hit. In other words, it sucks. Ha, thats funny. A band and its lead singer go their seperate ways so that they can sound exactly alike, and exactly like when they played together. I really disliked Creed.
  12. QUOTE(Texsox @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 07:40 PM) I mean really, wtf? It's wrestling. Like we wouldn't want someone to have an unfair advantage. I dont think it is fair advantage as much as it is a liability for Vince's lawyers. You know the wrestlers dont really care, because they just want to look good. But someone at some point is going to sue Vince for turning a blind eye towards steroid use when someone ended up dead. Its just a matter of time, if it hasnt happened already. Now Vince can say he tested them for it, and spoke to them about it. Not that he will put a stop to it.....
  13. Gammons is steering the trade to the Red Sox. Beckett and Lowell to the Red Sox for a mix of players headed by Jon Papelbon. edit: not Papelbon, he could be included, but most likely Anibel Sanchez and Hanley Ramirez and the ever famous PTBNL
  14. QUOTE(mr_genius @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 07:15 PM) meh, sounds like bs to me. Testing doesnt mean anything. There are no punishments or anything that have been mentioned. However, getting testing is a pretty big step for the WWE, I would have to say. I imagine Vince will start getting some more lawsuits thrown his way if his wrestlers or former wrestlers keep dropping dead.
  15. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 05:44 PM) Red Sox and "mystery" team take over lead: http://abcnews.go.com/Sports/ESPNSports/story?id=1334519 LOL, what does your Marlins intern buddy have to say about this? Doesnt sound like your typical Miami Post retraction now, does it?
  16. That kid better have been pledging a fraternity.
  17. I know plenty of hunters in the Chicago area. Plenty of people in this area hunt, I dont understand why you think its a fact that Chicagoans arent outdoorsman, SF1?
  18. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 03:11 PM) Especially with that beard. :headshake I was thinking more along the lines of his conversive grammar (or lack thereof). But the beard can go too.
  19. I dont know how many people watched the Bears postgame yesterday on Comcast, or if anyone is watching the replay right now, but Richard Dent is awful behind the microphone. Just dreadful
  20. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 02:54 PM) For shame, quoting me without also including the clarification of my comment. LOL, I thought about putting the clarification in there, but it would ruin the message in my post. Besides, I knew as soon as I hit submit that you would clarify it yourself.
  21. This "End of Hutchison" thread is GREAT! QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 11:40 AM) The Bears are not in a situation where they HAVE to play the rookie QB...so why do it? To finish with 4 wins on the year? No thanks. QUOTE(3E8 @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 11:51 AM) If Orton is our QB of the future, we may be in trouble. Also lost in the hat-eating promise was this gem. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 11:46 AM) It won't happen. I'm also just as sure this Bears team--complete with the #1 defense in the National Football League :banghead :banghead :headshake --cannot win. This quote wasnt bad, just incredibly ironic after yesterdays game. QUOTE(Wedge @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 12:19 PM) Primarily, we need our quarterback to be able to get the ball to Muhammad. Freaking Jake Delhomme looked like a real NFL QB for two seasons because he was able to do that. Hutch can't do that. Maybe Blake can, but I'm confident that Orton can at least do that. It's low expectations, really. We have to start with Orton. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 02:30 PM) There's about a 1% chance Orton does anything of substance this year. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 09:06 PM) Sorry but I think anything more than 6-7 wins is probably out of the question. You at least need some resemblance of offense to be successful to keep that defense off the field and fresh. Orton's probably going to struggle. How many rookie QB's besides Ben Roest... have come in and succeeded straight away? David Carr didn't. Joey Harrington didn't. It doesn't help that the Bears OL isn't in the top half of the league in protection as well.
  22. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 01:15 PM) I'm still waiting for a hat to be consumed. Who was the lucky poster who offered to eat their hat?
  23. LOL, Martyrdom is based upon the media portrayal of your death in your society.
