Eddie Guererro Passes Away
QUOTE(fathom @ Nov 15, 2005 -> 05:59 PM) It's a damn shame to see so many wrestlers die at a young age. you will get no argument out of me about that.

Eddie Guererro Passes Away
QUOTE(fathom @ Nov 15, 2005 -> 04:47 PM) HUGE, HUGE difference between baseball and wrestling. Baseball players are athletes, and wrestlers are entertainers. Even the guys who were pure muscle when they started in WWE, like Kurt Angle, are on the juice now. As for proof? I can't give you their blood test, but people talk outside of the ring. Name me one wrestler in the WWE right now that you don't think is on roids? You did it for me. Christain. Rey Mysterio. Sean Michaels. Spike Dudley. The Rock. Prove to me that they are all roided. Because they have muscle and are cut, they must be on roids? Give me a break. These guys get paid to work out all week and put on a show for maybe 30 minutes a week.

Eddie Guererro Passes Away
QUOTE(fathom @ Nov 15, 2005 -> 04:42 PM) Are you disagreeing with me? absolutely. Its like saying every baseball player is on roids because some were caught with roids. You want to change my mind, give me proof instead of accusations.

QUOTE(fathom @ Nov 15, 2005 -> 04:39 PM) EVERY major wrestler is on steroids. Even the tiny guys, like Christian, are on the juice. :headshake

Breaking news on steroids
So this is something that can only be tested within 36 hours of the HGH being taken. Is HGH a drug that is used strictly for building body mass, or is it also a drug that is used for energy bursts? If a runner was attempting to build stamina, and used HGH in his training and built up his stamina, would it be necassary for the runner to continue taking HGH to maintain that stamina through his races? there is so much I dont know about steroids, im not trying to be argumentative as much as I am trying to get information to form my own opinions.

Joe Smith Trial..
QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 15, 2005 -> 03:46 PM) Not good enough... he should suffer as much as it's thought she suffered.. revived.. then repeated. no arguments here. I am starting to think that the people responsible for paroling these repeat offenders need to start getting punished also. I am sure they would take their jobs a hell of alot more seriously if they were punished for letting some whacko out who went and repeated his crime.

Joe Smith Trial..
QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 15, 2005 -> 03:43 PM) He was in a jail holding cell... And if common sense didn't kick in.. signs plain as day stating that visits were being monitored and recorded are all over the place. fair enough. Now moving on to finding the deepest hole.

Joe Smith Trial..
QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 15, 2005 -> 03:35 PM) Defense attorney Adam Tebrugge objected to the recordings on constitutional grounds, saying Smith had not been advised of his rights and that Smith's brother was, in effect, acting as an agent of law enforcement. His objections were overruled. On what grounds were they overruled? I think this guy needs to be buried in the deepest hole and forgotten, but he should get a fair trial. I didnt think it was legal to use recorded confessions if the confessor was not aware he/she was being recorded.

Pierre to the Cubs?
QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Nov 15, 2005 -> 02:26 PM) Haha, Bruce Levine is backing off this trade rumor faster than you can imagine. He is now saying that the Cubs and the Marlins haven't talked about Juan Pierre in the past 3 days and that no trade is imminent. :rolly You know who perpetuates these rumors worse than Bruce Levine? Michael Olgolnik(I think thats his last name, he seems to mesh all of the syllables together when he says his name). When he does his updates, that guy is ordering rounds of Cubby koolaid. Every morning for the past 3 days, the O-G has been saying its not a matter of if, its a matter of when this trade is done. Over the summer he got alot of comeuppance on his radio show, he kept trashing the sox and celebrating the Cubs and callers were just KILLING HIM. He even went as far as to tell Jeff Dickerson(who I feel is the up-and-comer of ESPN1000) that if he had to choose any pitcher for a game 7 in the world series, he would choose Mark Prior. I like Mark Prior, the guy has great stuff, but there are so many more money pitchers that I would put out there before Prior. In fact, I would probably put Zambrano out there before Prior. And if I had my choice of any pitcher, it certainly wouldnt be on the cubs.

Good & bad Dolgin news..
QUOTE(Beastly @ Nov 14, 2005 -> 11:31 PM) No big loss, he wasn't THAT good anyway. off the subject, The picture in your sig doesnt look like Joe Crede at all to me. On the subject, he may not have been THAT good, but it is just another guy that the Sox are going to have to replace on the radio broadcast next year. Continuity is very important in radio sports broadcasts if you ask me. People need to work with each other a while to get to know their ins and outs. Like Farmer and Rooney finishing sentences and doing the same ad together. I heard Bruce Levines rant, and the worst thing about it was that Dolgin kept saying "Bruce, do you want to talk about this off-air?" and Bruce just kept going on and on. I cheered in my car when Dolgin said "See ya" when Bruce hung up his phone.

Laguna Beach 3
My office just had a discussion about this, lol. My coworker told me that all of the kids from the original show were 21 when it occured, and that it all has been scripted from the start. I have no proof, she could have been talking outta her ass for all I know. But I thought that it might be scripted when those kids went to Spring Break and were drinking like fools throughout the whole episode. I wouldnt think MTV would want to put themselves into a position in which they were showing off underage kids drinking themselves into oblivion.

HIV+ Linebacker Arrested For Sexual Assault
QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 15, 2005 -> 01:31 PM) If that was the case it would never spread, no? Why? It is communed through blood transfusions, sex, exchanging bodily fluids, it isnt an airborne virus. What i meant is if player A has HIV and gets a cut, and runs into player B who also has a cut but not HIV, and Player A's blood is near Player B's cut, the chance of transmitting the virus is very very small.

Eddie Guererro Passes Away
QUOTE(The Critic @ Nov 15, 2005 -> 01:01 PM) That's an interesting take, but I didn't see it that way. Batista had recently been working with Eddie in an angle, so he'd been spending a lot of time with him. I'm sure they became friends and that's why I think Dave was crying. It seemed very genuine to me. EDITED to add that if I had to choose anyone in a Pro Wrestling Steroids Dead Pool, my choice would be Scott Steiner. Steiner has my vote as well. A friend told me that Triple H was no more than a cruiserweight when he first came to the WWE, and bulked up considerably and suspiciously. Batista was a fulltime bodybuilder and bouncer before he was a wrestler, so it isnt a stretch to say that he once took steroids, but I really dont think he does now. Batista also didnt have a period where he jumped up a class like Guerrero did, he was always big in the WWE. Guerrero seemed to go from Cruiserweight in the WCW to Heavyweight in the WWE overnight.

HIV+ Linebacker Arrested For Sexual Assault
I remember these debates when Magic came out and admitted he was HIV+. Isnt there a very small probability of contracting the virus even when the contact involves infected blood near open wounds? I dont know the specifics, but i thought I read that the virus dies immediately when it is exposed to open air.

ESPN Shuts Down Customer Service Line
QUOTE(The Critic @ Nov 15, 2005 -> 01:13 PM) To me, the worst part about this Cowherd episode is that his bosses are probably going to look at the situation and think "Wow, did Colin ever get the phones to light up! There's a BUZZZZZZ out there about him now!!!!" unfortunately, Radio sees any sort of attention as good attention. Cowherd probably will make a half-assed apology and move on to ripping another person post mortem.

Pierre to the Cubs?
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 15, 2005 -> 01:02 PM) They were good moves, im admitting that. Lee was a great aquisition, and A-ram was good. Its the lack of moves he has made since that, which are going to be his legacy. He has shown no knowledge of building a team quite yet. Look at the way he filled in his team last offseason. Come on. The guy is avg at best. I would say that Jeromy Burnitz filled his role quite well last year, as did Ryan Dempster. Glendon Rusch has been pretty good for the Cubs in whatever role they gave him. Even though he didnt have a magnificent season, Maddux still had a pretty good season for a guy who only goes 6 innings anymore. Every GM has their good deals and their bomb deals. I dont think Hendry sucks at all.

Green Day's Bigotry
QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Nov 15, 2005 -> 12:49 PM) I'm sorry, I was just surprised when I wasn't able to write a certain word, but could say "nazi ass chicken f***ing b****"... I understand the respect aspect. I don't ever intended to call someone that name, it just struck me as odd. that's all. I dont understand where you are going with this. You are comparing putting a bullet in a book, to putting a bullet in a person. Then you are saying that it isnt right that Eminem cant say "f***ing f**" when Billy Joe is saying "Redneck" and "Idiot America". The KKK, Al Queda, and Green Day? These are arent comparisons, they arent even remotely connected. Have you heard the album? Do you know if there are actual references to putting a bullet in the bible?

Eddie Guererro Passes Away
QUOTE(The Critic @ Nov 15, 2005 -> 10:38 AM) Yeah, it was pretty tough to watch. I expected Benoit, Rey and Chavo to have a tough time, and even Big Show since he seems to be the emotional type, but Batista breaking down surprised me a bit. Smackdown was taped on Sunday night too, so that show will also be a tribute to Eddie. Triple H's "tribute" kinda bugged me. He seemed to be very fake, and had no personal recollections. Just the standard "triumphing over his demons" thing, no anecdotes of his own interaction with Eddie. At least Stephanie seemed to feel for Eddie's wife and kids. Triple H and Stephanie said the same thing, "Eddie could make you laugh, he could make you cry, he could make you mad at him the next minute, and he would do it all with a twinkle in his eye and a smile on his face". Verbatim. It really pissed me off. Triple H definitely looked like he was manufacturing some tears.

ESPN Shuts Down Customer Service Line
When I moonlighted at a radiostation, one of the jobs I had was sitting in the station and making sure that a few syndicated show ran correctly and didnt go off the air. One of the shows was "Piledriver", a rock and wrestling show that really was funny, and showcased alot of rock. You would not believe the phone response we would get for this show, everyone was calling in trying to get on the show, but it was syndicated(ie. pre-recorded) so they couldnt get on. There are alot of wrestling fans out there, regardless of the stigma that follows them around that they are all roiders and that the sport is fake, and they will defend their sport like no other. I used to have a kid call me and pretend to be the Rock. Cowherd must have been going exclusively for shock value, because what he said was tremendously insensitive and uninformed.

great, another MTV creation that will suck the will to live out of my wife one hour at a time. What did i ever do to MTV?

Bulls @ warriors.
I think there was a point in that game in which 5 offensive fouls were called in a row, it really was a poorly officiated game. That being said, the Bulls offense completely sucked. Hard game to watch, the Warriors basically ran them right off the court.
