QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 07:26 PM) Alright Jonny, 0.50 WHIP through 2... keep it up. Do people really say that? I cannot imagine thinking to myself "Alright Jonny, 0.50 WHIP through 2" while at a game. I just thought WHIP was a good stat to make trades seem realistic and pitchers seem s***ty in arguments on a messageboard. I never thought there was an practical use for WHIP.

Your avatar rules Jabroni. Almost as cool as RockRaines current "trackstar mowing down stupid girl", but yours makes me laugh too.

I know Konerko is doing a concerted effort to hit the ball to right field and not pull the ball, but he let a perfect pitch in his wheelhouse go by on the second pitch of the sequence. After that Grienke punkd him out.

QUOTE(Dam8610 @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 05:10 PM) Why would he take a shot at the Cardinals? That doesn't make sense. Was he taking a shot? Or showing the difference?

QUOTE(southsider17 @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 12:53 PM) Unlike the newbie Kyyle23 I don't read thru every thread (not sure why I read thru this one either) but that was a good, well-thought-out post, JimH (and it should have been considering all the practice you've gotten). Let's fix the bullpen before we worry about our slick fielding 3Bman. Hey, i resemble that remark

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 02:06 PM) Surprisingly I was barely on yesterday. Knightni had almost 200 posts, and Jabroni had 150. I had 50 posts yesterday, and only had the 10th highest total for the day. What is more impressive, a new Soxtalk posting record, or me not being a part of it???? Knightni shouldnt count. Most of his posts consisted of "0-1" or "3-1" running commentary should be balled into one post

I thought the best song they came out with was the last song, It was called "Untitled" for some time, and then re-named. Not sure what it was re-named. It was a beautiful acoustic song, sounded like somethign from Gish. Machina is pretty kick ass, there are some really awesome songs on that double disc. There are some flops too.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 12:57 PM) You obviously don't remember the 4th of July game at the Urinal last season when the Sox were losing 1-0 in the top of the ninth when CLee hit one into the bleachers. We also HAD Konerko and we HAD Buerhle and a lot of guys from the team when they bombed that are now on a successful team. you are using one game as an argument for keeping a player? Your arguments are much better than that, Dick. Buehrle rarely has bombed in a White Sox uniform.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 12:47 PM) Fastest ban in the west Not sure why the guy wastes his time spamming here... He should get out of his mom's basement more often. He sure puts alot of effort into trying to be here, even though he gets shotputted out so fast. 5 times, now 6 times he has been banned. Wow.

QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 12:38 PM) Not sure if you have read the countless times it's been posted as to why it does not make sense. I will try again but I suspect this topic will come up over and over. Randa is a better hitter than Crede, there is no doubt about that. 1. Crede is a starting player on a 1st place team, the team has great chemistry. 2. The manager and GM are very hesitant to disrupt the chemistry. I don't blame them. 3. They have built the team on pitching and per the announcers, our pitchers love Crede, they have great confidence in him. That leads to good chemistry. 4. Randa has not been especially durable the last 2-3 years. Crede is durable. 5. Defensively I'd say they are about equal, the basic upgrade you get from Randa is batting average of 45 points. Not worth disrupting things for that alone, it doesn't matter if Randa is great in the clubhouse or not. A trade is a disruption. 6. The GM and manager have said if they are going to do anything (trade) it will be an addition vs. swapping out a starting player. Williams just a few days ago said this yet again ... he wants to be very careful about altering things. 7. There are greater needs than a 45 point upgrade in batting average at 3B. Those being strengthening the bullpen and figuring out whether another starter is needed with McCarthy showing his inexperience and El Duque showing his age. 8. Randa is as good as he'll get. Crede could get better. Try to look at it realistically vs. just numbers, and consider what the GM and manager have been saying all year long. If Crede gets hurt they will make a full court press for Randa. I realize you are insistent on wanting this to happen because you post it every couple of days but IMO the chances of them trading Crede and getting Randa (in whatever combination) is remote. I don't know how else to explain it. This board likes when the team wins but doesn't seem to value chemistry ... when chemistry has been consistently cited as a big reason why they're winning, and why they haven't won from '01-'04. They are not going to start trading players for relatively small statistical upgrades, there are too many other factors. You can keep wishing and hoping and posting about it, but I think you will be disappointed because I doubt it will happen. I am done presenting this point because this board will start with the same harping every time Crede makes an out, especially if he makes an out to the left side. Please Jim, retype that again. I didnt get it the first billion times it was written

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 12:22 PM) I would actually agree with you, if your definition of "attention" is "more money". I wouldnt think Billy would be the one needing the money, maybe Iha or the orginal chick bassist(cannot remember her name), but not Billy. The guy has money all over the place from all of his different music outlets(producing, writing, royalties, studio musician). I think this is all about stroking his ego.

QUOTE(Southside hitmen @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 11:59 AM) I read on the Astros board that Andy Pettitte is on the trading block. What would it take to get Pettitte He probably has a no-trade clause, and he is making 8.5 million this year. he wouldnt be cheap, thats for sure.

High School: Cardinal Red and Canary yellow (batavia bulldogs) College:Maroon and White (SIU Salukis rule!) High school was a bit brutal, they didnt really know how to make the colors go together well until my senior season when they put alot of grey into the uniforms and made yellow more of a background color.

QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 11:42 AM) I've said it before & I will say it again. We did not get enough for what Carlos Lee was worth at the time. Milw was not the only team calling Kenny. There will several suitors for Lee. I don't think you realize how much you overpaid. You traded a guy coming off a career year who was clearly the MVP of a team for the NL's SB leader who was coming off a bad year at the plate & a average at best relief pitcher. The PTBNL was a joke. The Brewers had to be laughing their arses off as soon as KW consented to the deal. That had speed on the team to compensate for the loss of Pods. To them it was no big deal. Getting Lee was huge. The fact he is leading the NL in RBI is something they themselves couldn't have dreamed up. If it had to be Lee (I'm still not convinced of that) then we had better be getting 2 solid RP with Pods. In all trade talk starting from last July it was believed that a team had to be willing to give up a #2/#3 starter for Lee. If you're going to shift that focus to a SB leader then you better damn well be getting top of the line help in relief. 29 yr old RH Mike Wise 04 2.93 NPERA, .659 OOP 26 yr old RH Mike Adams 04 2.95 NPERA .666 OOP Luis Vizc 04 3.34 NPERA .724 OOP Pods+Wise+Adams for Lee is reasonable. The Bullpen could have been: Hermy, Wise, Politte, Cotts, Marte, Shingo You have the option of bringing Adams up when Shingo struggled. How many losses do we at the hands of poor pitching by Luis? At least 6. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/gamelog?statsId=6291 All 1 run games & all games where Luis gave up 1 or more R. Mike Wise leads the NL in NPERA for relievers this year. Cost? $350K I don't want to hear that KW couldn't get these guys. C Lee 04 RPG 6.70, 103R, 99RBI, 310TB S Pods 04 RPG 4.34 85R, 39RBI, 233TB When it comes to trades the NUMBERS mean a whole LOT more than potential. I dont think this has been said about the Carlos Lee trade. Get over it. its over and done. Player value is subject to mostly perception and opinion, and then money, and in the distance, talent. the reality is that the White Sox are way better off from the trade then the Milwaukee Brewers are. This cannot be disputed, the Sox have the best record in the majors. And after this year the Brewers are going to have to start thinking about Carlos Lee's escalating salary. A-Rod was traded for Alphonso Soriano and cash, in what was considered a very lopsided deal. Since A-Rod left the team, the Rangers have been by far better than they were when A-Rod was still on the team. Do you think rangers fans b**** and moan about having the better player on their team? No, because they have a much better TEAM, they arent paying over 1/4 of their payroll to one player and can now distribute the money. Could the Rangers have gotten better players for A-Rod? Sure, Manny Ramirez was almost a Ranger. Bottom line is that it doesnt matter anymore. It is done, and now it is just crying over spilled milk, when the cow is three feet away(and currently the best team in the majors).

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 11:32 AM) My only knock on the guy is that he is supposedly a major control freak. Those supposed 'Pumpkins' albums are really the Billy Corgan experience. He played everything in the studio on most of the tracks because he was never really satisfied with the way the other members did it. The rest of them were just around for touring. I wonder what it really is that he misses about the Pumpkins. Im guessing it is the attention. He probably realized he will never have the same spotlight as a solo artist or fronting Zwan.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 11:20 AM) He has only been to the new ballpark once since it opened. Now they won't let him in it. seriously? -
QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 11:04 AM) The guy is such a f***ing putz. He really seems to think he is more to the music landscape than he really is. Like we really give a f*** about him thta much? Man, I can't stand the guy, and he is nothing more than a local star. The rest of the country really doesn't care all that much about him, and the rest of the world REALLY doesn't. The thing is, Chicago puts out so few Top 10 acts (popular stuff here) of this sort, that when we do, we seem to think the bands are more important than they really are. To match the fact that the guy is a raging Cub fan, he is also an arrogant prick and a mediocre songwriter and a lowsy guitarist. What a shmuck. Billy Corgan is alot of things. Arrogant, self centered, raging Cub fan. But a mediocre songwriter and lowsy guitarist, and nothing more than a local star? The Pumpkins were alot more than just local stars. I dont even like the pumpkins all that much, but they were a hell of alot more than just local stars.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 11:11 AM) When you see him grab the bandwagon to jump on, stomp the hell out of his hands. That will keep him off the bandwagon, and keep him from typing for a while. I was planning on chopping off his fingers so he cannot grab on and he also cannot type. 2 birds, 1 stone. -

QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 10:59 AM) He is not a band-wagon jumper. Don't you see his sarcasm in this piece? It's yet another hatchet job to difuse the excitement White Sox fans are feeling. He's an unhappy Cub fan who is jealous of what you the White Sox fan are feeling right now. So in the midst of your celebration of homer happy Monday night he throwing cold water on your head by mentioning every negative thing that's occured he could think of. That's not a band-wagoner. That's a Grinch. He would like nothing more than to steal this season from you. I tend to think he is starting to run behind the bandwagon right now. He always catches on before its too late. He isnt on the bandwagon, but he is getting close. If the Cubs get demolished next weekend, he will be driving the bandwagon. He did the same thing when the Cubs went to the playoffs in 03, it is just taking him a little while to fall off the Cubs bandwagon. -

QUOTE(sayitaintso @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 10:50 AM) I would love it if Marriotti could stay with a team for an entire year. He is a band-wagon jumper. Only if that team is in China. Maybe he can move there and insult everyone in his path there. Im sure the Communist regime will appreciate his candor and non-bias.
