  2. QUOTE (Tony @ Apr 16, 2018 -> 10:22 AM) No Wild Wild Country talk? 4 episode in, crazy. Pretty incredible how little national play that got. I vaguely remember it, but after watching it I can only say this would be like if Waco happened and you only found out about it from a documentary 30 years later
  3. Not a good day for our friend Quintana

  5. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Apr 13, 2018 -> 02:33 PM) when soxtalk was down I went to WSI and saw about half the front page was filled with threads like this one and noped the f*** out as fast as I could. Lol, NOTHING AT ALL IS BETTER THAN THIS
  6. QUOTE (insiderinfo @ Apr 13, 2018 -> 12:14 PM) He is a a leader of the team and just needs time relearn some of the skils he had. Venturia needs to move him back to shortstop too. Robin is on it, I assure you
  7. QUOTE (WBWSF @ Apr 13, 2018 -> 11:24 AM) Have you noticed that JR has disappeared from the scene? He use to appear on TV and radio and would grant interviews with the papers. No more. He has been MIA for a long time. 2 months ago http://wgnradio.com/2018/02/15/jerry-reins...s-a-radio-game/ 4 months ago http://www.nbcsports.com/chicago/video/ins...jerry-reinsdorf http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baske...2019-story.html 8 months ago https://chicago.suntimes.com/sports/sox-cha...n-it-to-win-it/ not hard
  8. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 13, 2018 -> 10:32 AM) But why offer $2M??? If you're not comfortable with the knee, fine whatever let him go. But you think the knee's worth $2M but not $3M, which would get you either Meredith or a potential 2nd round pick? There's no obvious logic or strategy behind it. e: I think Meredith was the leading receiver during Fox's time with the Bears thanks to Alshon's injuries. Letting Alshon go for nothing and then letting Meredith go for nothing at a position you're already lacking in just isn't very confidence-building. It's not like Pace is above handing out expensive contracts to garbage/past-their-prime players, e.g. Victor Cruz or Glennon. Why not tender the extra million? Again, according to Bernstein Pace thought other team doctors would feel the same about the medicals and they could bring him back on a much cheaper deal. It was also mentioned that he may miss this upcoming season
  9. TIFWIW, Bernstein opened the show saying that his Bears source said that the decision was completely medical. He said Meredith didn’t get his procedure done by Bears team doctors, and when they evaluated the knee, they were not comfortable giving Pace the OK. And concerning the depth of WRs, there will be additions. This isn’t the final depth chart, players will be added. Fretting about it now is worthless.
  10. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 13, 2018 -> 09:29 AM) Did Bryant struggle and get sent down? Rizzo? Most of their young players like Russell, Baez, Happ, Almora and Schwarber have contributed something along the way. They also signed Gleyber Torres and Eloy Jimenez. Not a bad track record, other than Soler/Heyward. More importantly, Willson Contreras might be the biggest overall contributor of all after Bryant, but their rebuild was never marketed around him being a core contributor in the early stages. Uh yea, Rizzo did get sent down. So did Schwarber, and I think Baez was up and down before Maddon became manager
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 13, 2018 -> 09:19 AM) I mean he got that great new modern facility built in San Francisco. Yea, they built it right on the Oceanside looking at the bridge in San Francis.....*squints at wiki*....Santa Clara with his own mon....*refers to wiki again*.....taxpayer money
  12. Believe me WBWSF, i know your opinion on Reinsdorf. You whine about him incessantly, the space he occupies in your head is immense
  13. QUOTE (WBWSF @ Apr 13, 2018 -> 08:25 AM) I don't doubt it for a minute that DeBartolo would have built his own stadium. He made his fortune building shopping centers. I heard one of the writers from the Tribune on radio say that the new stadium would have been built next to a shopping center somewhere in the western suburbs. Of course you dont doubt it, you believe anyone if they tell you they are great and reinsdorf is terrible. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 13, 2018 -> 08:27 AM) If DeBartolo bought the team, he would have built the best stadium, would have have the highest payroll, the cheapest prices, and the best team, and it would have gone on for eternity. The 49ers prove it. season tickets would be free for the fans that loved Eddie the most
  14. QUOTE (WBWSF @ Apr 13, 2018 -> 07:59 AM) There's a new book out published by the Chicago Tribune called A Decade by Decade History of the Chicago White Sox. Lots of interesting photos of past White Sox players and teams. I think one of the most interesting items in the book is how it tells that Edward DeBartolo wanted to buy the White Sox from Bill Veeck. The AL owners thought he might move the team out of state and he agreed to put in writing that he would keep the team in the Chicagoland area AND build a new stadium WITH HIS OWN MONEY. The AL owners still rejected his bid to buy the team. They then wound up approving JR as the owner, who in a few years threatened and almost moved the team to Florida. Having JR acquire the White Sox instead of DeBartolo has to be one of the worse things to ever happen to the White Sox franchise. Yea I’m sure Debartolo would have totally built a stadium with his own money
  15. QUOTE (glangon @ Apr 13, 2018 -> 07:05 AM) True but that is not the point of the move. The reason he is up is to eat innings. If we get anything for him, then it's a bonus. Volstad eating innings saves arms for the more valuable members of the pen, the ones that we can get something for. We have a young rotation, many of them won't go past 6 innings, that is a lot of innings for a bullpen to eat up, especially if No-Game James and Gonzalez go through a stretch of sucking ass. tbh, Im worried about Shields and Gonzalez burning up the pen far more than i am Lopez, Fulmer and Giolito. However, Fulmer is toeing the line
  16. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Apr 12, 2018 -> 10:03 PM) it's early but ricky is on the clock. team looks absolutely lifeless and sloppy and is not ready to play on a nightly basis. that's a manager issue. Lol Ricky is not on the clock
