Dioner Navarro traded to Blue Jays
QUOTE (Blackout Friday @ Aug 26, 2016 -> 10:53 PM) Ban me if you want, but this one-upping culture taking place I this site is disgraceful I will go back to SSS. It isn't perfect, but better than this nonsense. ? Who said anything about banning? I mean, if you want to stay and argue, that's fine. This thread isn't really a shining example of what this site is about but it tends to get like that in seasons where the Sox fall below expectations. Nobody is calling to ban you though. Although I will say the wife and divorce shot was below the belt and out of nowhere

Dioner Navarro traded to Blue Jays
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Aug 26, 2016 -> 10:05 PM) I wanted nothing. Where did I say I expected anything? I didn't. Honestly.... Very happy getting him off the 25. At the risk of more wrath from the hahn fan-boys, if he does want to trade more players, may I suggest that he get on with it? As each day passes, value falls (for those that have any value). Who are all these vicious Hahn fan boys you speak of? They sound awful

QUOTE (jasonxctf @ Aug 26, 2016 -> 09:09 PM) Interesting... Us bank paid approx $8.8 million a year for 25 years on their new stadium naming rights with the Vikings. In general do football stadiums get more for naming rights then baseball? Basketball? Probably, because they can get more use out of their fields with other sports and events. Especially indoor stadiums like the Vikings new stadium

Dioner Navarro traded to Blue Jays
QUOTE (Blackout Friday @ Aug 26, 2016 -> 08:52 PM) I said from the one scouting report I read, which is this one: http://www.bluejaysfromaway.com/lansing-le...outing-reports/ Don't really see why the attitude is necessary. If you've seen something different, post it. We're all going on speculation. That "try again" stuff is just childish. That article is from 2013, I bet it was right before he had his TJS

Dioner Navarro traded to Blue Jays
QUOTE (SoxAce @ Aug 26, 2016 -> 08:19 PM) There's a difference between saying "a bit better" and "improving" ala Saladino who was actually a decent prospect in the minors (and age appropriate at the time). Like I said though, anytime you throw left handed, you can always carve out a career. Hopefully this guy handles AAA well and goes from there. The "improving young player" line is Greensox line any time someone doubts the greatness that is Tyler Saladino. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Aug 26, 2016 -> 08:18 PM) He's 25 and just out of A ball and rule 5 eligible. Whiffed again... How are those proven veterans working out? About as well as your idea to trade Eaton for some lottery tickets. Turner is in his second year after tommy John and his numbers improved dramatically this season, but I don't imagine you bothered to look at that when you declared he was nothing

Dioner Navarro traded to Blue Jays
QUOTE (SoxAce @ Aug 26, 2016 -> 06:47 PM) He's 25 in AA. Let's not get carried away. He does throw left handed however so he may stick around. Am I getting carried away for thinking he may be a bit better than nothing? I wouldn't think that to be the case

Dioner Navarro traded to Blue Jays
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Aug 26, 2016 -> 06:22 PM) We got nothing in trade; but we cleared room on the roster for other players to play, so that's something. Nothing? Tell me what you know about Turner. He may be an improving young player like Saladino

I just don't see much leverage Bosa can get by playing in Canada. The Chargers don't want to pay him a certain amount, and he is gonna go play for less in Canada. And if he gets hurt, he does nothing but lower his earning power.

New Ballpark Name
QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Aug 25, 2016 -> 03:13 PM) Upgrades from very bad to...just bad? Again, addressing your earlier point about the team is "trying not to be mediocre". If these are the "upgrades" they chose to make, when better upgrades were available, then I don't see how your stance on this mediocre business holds water. And oh, one more point on the so-called upgrades. The Sox came in last in offense last year, and the team that you say is trying not to be mediocre brought in the likes of Rollins, Jackson, Navarro/Avila, and Lawrie to address that gaping problem. And they were all ready and set to go with LaRoche again, too. So now that I think about it, you might be right. They weren't trying to be mediocre. They really weren't trying at all, now, were they. You know, this is just an incredibly condescending post for really no reason. DA has actually given you exactly what you wanted him to say in this thread, the Sox brass has not been successful, their followthrough has sucked, and the front office should be replaced. But you cant even take that win and walk away, you just want to keep prodding for no reason, and change it to "they are trying to be mediocre" or "they arent trying at all." Stop Thad, your thoughts are all well known. We know you hate the front office and owner. Its enough at this point.

New Ballpark Name
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 25, 2016 -> 07:45 AM) Why does the name matter? How many people will decide not to go to the park because it's named Guaranteed Rate Field? Yeah, it's a stupid name, but so is US Cellular Field or the "Cell", especially considering you can't even get US Cellular in Chicago. Besides, is this the White Sox call or the actual people who own the stadiums call? caulfield wont take a girlfriend there because the name is on the ticket!

2016 MLB catch all thread
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Aug 24, 2016 -> 07:00 PM) He makes less in each of the next 2 seasons than he did this year. And the way he's hit I don't think they'll mind that they'd have to try to resign him at a longer deal. He still makes 24M per and he is a injury liability plus kind of a headache. And the mets aren't exactly in a good financial spot
