  1. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Aug 19, 2016 -> 10:53 AM) Where did you see this? That can't be good for his long term health. Mully and Hanley said it on the score this morning

  3. pretty scary that Hawks "illness" last week was a heart arrhythmia
  4. QUOTE (Scoots @ Aug 18, 2016 -> 09:32 PM) Where did you read it...a link would be nice Probably in the Zach Burdi thread http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=100388

  7. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Aug 18, 2016 -> 10:19 AM) Everyone is entitled to an opinion. correct, so lets not label opposite opinions of yours "apologentsias" QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 18, 2016 -> 09:44 AM) Look how far back you had to go though. Santiago arrived in 2012. Reed arrived in 2012. If those guys were still here they'd have 1 year before free agency. If they were still here, Cleveland would still have a better rotation than us. And when they traded those guys away, they had nothing in the pipeline that was able to replace them, so they went out and spent money on the Robertsons, Latoses, and Shieldses. That is a problem. The pitching development isn't terrible, as you point out it's better than position player development, but it's not so incredible that everyone should stop questioning what they're doing with these guys. 5 years ago you could make that case, but 5 years in MLB is a long time. you just started off by saying "Go back 5 years". This is within that period. They need to develop more, no doubt, but it was within your criteria and you are wiping it aside because "cleveland would still be better", instead of your initial point of "they are developing pitchers anymore"
  8. The second largest shipwreck ever recorded in the Great Lakes found at the bottom of Lake Ontario
  9. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 17, 2016 -> 05:53 PM) Gordon was $72 million guaranteed, and Ian Kennedy another $70 million. So that's two bigger than Abreu out of the smallest local t.v. market in MLB. Sox offered Gordon more supposedly, and Kennedy isn't exactly a glowing example of why the sox should be spending big bucks.
  10. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Aug 17, 2016 -> 03:19 PM) College and minors combined (3 years), Burdi has pitched a total of 97 innings. I don't know what that means, but I find it interesting. I think it means his college coaches recognized that he is a really good reliever and they would rather use him in that capacity
  11. Wait, the Sox drafted JAKE Burdi? Hold the phone, now it's truly a bad pick. They should have drafted Zach
  12. A bunch of AIBA judges were sent home amid suspicions of match fixing http://deadspin.com/olympic-boxing-judges-...-mat-1785404354
  13. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Aug 17, 2016 -> 11:44 AM) Previous players drafted at pick #26 have nothing to do with Zack Burdi. Just tossing that out. I don't really think his draft number should matter at all if he comes in and is a nails closer for his entire career. Some people just want to get butt hurt about draft position as if another position player or starter would have been a better pick, regardless of future success. Burdi is pitching like he is damn near untouchable, that is not a bad thing
  14. Nancy Grace doesn't like Brendan Dasseys conviction being overturned, gets shut down by reality
  15. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 16, 2016 -> 11:47 PM) Duffy is quite a success story. Always had good stuff. Made himself a good starter. I despise the Royals but do respect Duffy. Lmao right
  16. Bernstein basically saying Kaplan is bulls***ting
  17. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Aug 16, 2016 -> 03:17 PM) Total theoretical here, but how much, if at all, does the value of the franchise increase if Theo Epstein is put in charge of White Sox baseball operations? 5.237
  18. Now that the confession is deemed involuntary, the state really has nothing else to try him on, correct? I read the state has 90 days to appeal

  21. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 15, 2016 -> 07:23 AM) I'm sure this is fine http://mobile.nytimes.com/2016/08/15/us/po...p.html?referer= MAINSTREAM MEDIA IS MAKING THAT UP
  22. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Aug 14, 2016 -> 07:35 PM) "I'd expect." Sounds more like an opinion than "he will be up." Sure. Right after he said Dave is using him as his source Spin it however you feel, rabbit was on it
  23. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Aug 14, 2016 -> 07:16 PM) Not quite. His tweet was more of opinion than actual fact that they will. No, that's pretty much exactly what he said, in this thread QUOTE (raBBit @ Aug 10, 2016 -> 11:01 AM) Dave's source in that tweet is me. I'd expect him up in a week or so. I'll get more info soon. If you see Burdi's gamelogs, the Sox have him throwing every third day. He'll continue on that path. Buddy Bell and Curt Hasler saw one of his last outings.
