QUOTE (oldsox @ Jul 8, 2016 -> 09:25 PM) Wrong. I did not like the Bonafacio signing from day one. Why are we talking about it? Because I mentioned that he was DFA'd this week. This is your one and only post in the thread where he is signed QUOTE (oldsox @ Jan 5, 2015 -> 09:53 AM) Who gets lopped off the roster? not seeing much about what you are saying now. But hey, go ahead and pound your chest

QUOTE (oldsox @ Jul 8, 2016 -> 01:50 PM) It was just an expression, Southsider. That's all. Sure, Hahn made worse moves that had a greater negative impact. Jeez, you take everything so literally. Maybe I should have said one of the worst moves of that year? That is probably more accurate. Still, it was a lousy signing, doomed from the start, a waste of $3 Million bucks and a roster spot for a guy who had no business on this team. In summary, the signing of Emilio showed a profound lack of good baseball judgment. I saw that the Braves DFA'd him , so I mentioned it here in a very minor post, and you make a federal case out of it. Its funny that you have all of these hindsight opinions when the only thing you were worried about when he was signed was who was getting dropped from the roster. Not much about this profound lack of good baseball judgement a year ago

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 8, 2016 -> 11:56 AM) If signing Bonifacio to a 1 year $3 million contract qualifies as one of Rick Hahn's worst moves ever, he will be doing pretty good. No question the $3 million turned into a gift to the Bonifacio family, but there are far worse moves made every season. Interesting to note, when Bonifacio signed, the reaction here wasn't exactly negative. Well, you have to keep in mind Greensox feels trading for Freddy Garcia was a bad move, oldsox contrasts everything to the baseball mecca that is the Colorado Rockies, and Thad just wants to keep trolling SS2K5

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 7, 2016 -> 03:15 PM) Worth pointing out about Holliday, he was fine...but it also took him more than 1/2 a season and being traded back to the NL to be fine. His OPS dropped more than 100 points from his previous season upon going to Oakland, then he recovered to the hitter he was once he was traded back to the NL. I think he also had some injury issues that contributed to that in Oakland -

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 7, 2016 -> 01:46 PM) His home/road splits... no thank you He is amazing at home, but it isnt like he is Adam Dunn on the road. .279/.337/.413 isnt anything to be ashamed of. And if he can generate the same kind of home cooking at the cell, im all for it -
QUOTE (scs787 @ Jul 7, 2016 -> 11:46 AM) So what is "Hoiball?" For a week or so ive been hearing Fred wants to run a downhill, free flowing, aggressive offense. Then people make it seem like "Hoiball" is a heavy 3 point shooting team. Those seem like 2 different things. Which is it? Is the downhill thing I keep hearing new? Hoiball is what Jimmy, Wade, and Rondo decide its gonna be

i have to admit, the Cubs are getting some of that glare that they were previously immune to. Now the media is calling out the spring training mimes and animal shows and maddons quirks. Its interesting to hear Maddons postgame comments now, because he hasnt really dealt with this before in Chicago. Last year was all rainbows and unicorns, no expectations. Now there is expectations

QUOTE (scs787 @ Jul 7, 2016 -> 09:19 AM) Niko's per 36 for points the last 2 years has been 19 and 17.....Is it totally ridiculous to think he can actually reach if he did indeed play starter minutes(which would have to coincide with better defense)? Post all star break he shot .445 both overall and from beyond the arc. If he can do that playing starting minutes, with improved defense, what will you then think of this team? The problem is, he was given the starting job, and he sucked donkey balls. The only reason he didnt play starter minutes in the second half is because of how bad he was with starter minutes in the first half

QUOTE (harkness @ Jul 6, 2016 -> 09:34 PM) You should go look up the threads. I have been part of this site for over 10 years now, and I can tell you for a fact that the off channel has nothing to do with the size of the thread But since you are so sure of it, feel free to look at the archives and cross reference the schedule to prove me wrong -

QUOTE (harkness @ Jul 6, 2016 -> 09:31 PM) The question was why is the thread shorter... the answer is simple and I'm 100% sure - the game is not on CSN. Do people post more when the team is losing.. maybe. But the game threads are ALWAYS ALWAYS shorter non CSN nights... I'm betting the amount of people actually watching the game drops by 65-70% Yea that reason is 100 percent wrong -

QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Jul 6, 2016 -> 01:44 PM) These are not healthy topics for anyone considering joining this site. Making threads about users is not healthy. Lol come on now. You are the one that keeps making the post stating that you are done with the sox and want to find another team to root for. This is all in fun and nobody in this thread has actually gotten mad about any of it

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 6, 2016 -> 01:11 PM) I saw a thing on 60 minutes about the owner a few years ago. He read a book and coached his daughter's team to a championship. They did something odd, I can't remember what, but he thought that would work in the NBA like it worked with 6th grade girls. Iirc he is wanted a cherry pick player, play 4 on defense and have a player hang around mid court for immediate run outs after a rebound

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 6, 2016 -> 01:08 PM) Incorrect. I wouldn't trade for old guys until a young core is built. I never said my team would win right now. It wouldn't. How's Rick's team doing in that regard, when he's trying to win? My point is that he's developing while service time is ticking. I was and am very complimentary of Hahn's work prior to the winter of 2014. He doubled the core in less than a year. For some reason, he started trading for rents, players at or past their peak, free agents, spending a million here, a million there on utility infielders and AAAA pitchers, before a core was built. And those trades weren't nearly as savvy as his early trades, respecting that some early trades didn't work out. At this point, I hope that Morneau works out and that Hahn successfully rushes Fulmer or Burdi into the pen. Because he's not going to sit still with this team. If Rodon has proven that he can compete and produce at the major league level, which he has, then he isn't rushing anything. You are under the mistaken impression that he will work and iron out every deficiency he has in the minor leagues and come up a finished and elite prospect and provide 5 years of 20 win seasons.
