QUOTE (greg775 @ Jan 15, 2016 -> 02:12 PM) Here's a good one. Would the Avi haters rather have had one year of Rios at 4-5 million or one of Avi at 2.1? Rios is still available I believe. I'd prefer Avi by far. I'm telling you, he's gonna get one more year of 400-600 at bats and this will be his last shot with the Sox obviously. i dont see how any of this is good

Popovich and Sager are great. I love that Pop is just a dick to everyone else with their dumb questions but makes a point to give Sager good responses QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Jan 15, 2016 -> 07:32 AM) And make no doubt about it, the Bulls trust Hoiberg. Every player not named Butler is expendable. I think the Bulls are looking to rebuild over a couple of years and hope LeBron has deteriorated enough in a few seasons to really contend. Gar trusts him. And lets be honest here, he isnt going anywhere because JR is already paying 2 coaches right now, and he isnt about to be paying 3 coaches concurrently if they decided to ditch Hoiberg. Bottom line, we are stuck with Hoiberg, good or bad, for at least a few more years.

Its hard to translate Cuba numbers to the majors. Dayan lit it up as a 16 year old and it never really carried over outside of the power

I wonder if the reason they are underground is because of those lice/creatures that fell off the Cloverfield monster during the attack on New York

I don't have preview tickets because the movie looks awful. It's gonna make a lot of money because of the character name brand, just like transformers did. And it looks like it will be bad, just like transformers

a coach that wants unwavering power and a gm that has unwavering power. thats fun

QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Jan 14, 2016 -> 11:52 AM) Have we come to a consensus on Rey's parents yet? I know the big reason people say Luke can't be her father is that Jedi aren't supposed to have romantic relationships. But was Luke ever told that? That "rule" never even came up until Episode 2, long before he was born. I suppose Yoda or Obi Wan could have told him but they never really made a point of bringing it up in the original trilogy. I mean, why would luke care or even know about this rule? It isnt like he has a Jedi academy governing him, he could get his freak on across the universe and not have any guilt

QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Jan 14, 2016 -> 09:26 AM) I thought it was with you on the other board. Maybe not? Anyway, read the book if you can. It is soo much better than the movie IMHO. It's by Stephen King but he originally wrote it under his pseudonym "Richard Bachman". You can either find it as a stand alone book or in the collection called The Bachman Books (which also has another one of my favorite stories, The Long Walk). I'm not entirely sure if the book is still in print anymore as the ending mirrors a pretty horrific tragedy in American history. It gives a much better background on the main character and why hes forced to get involved in the games in the first place. The setup of the games is much better as well. The runners are basically free to go anywhere in the world instead of just being limited to a gameshow arena. There's also no sappy love story intertwined either. The ending is pretty dark but fits pretty well within the story. IIRC, we had/have a book thread in here somewhere. "Thinner" is pretty awesome too

QUOTE (danman31 @ Jan 14, 2016 -> 10:49 AM) OK no more prequel talk. This was a good thread and now the inmates are running the asylum. I know I contributed, but let's get back to the movie most people enjoyed as opposed to b****ing about 10+ year-old movies. Right. So, back to Snoke being Jar Jar Binks

alright got that post back on track

to me 2 was ruined with the absolutely terrible romance between Padme and Anakin. No chemistry between the actors, abysmal writing, it just killed it. And i agree with end of 3 just killing it for me.

QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Jan 13, 2016 -> 04:23 PM) You can add "when healthy" to any player with an injury history. What's your point? There's no way Dallas takes both RGIII and Manziel. No, you can't add it like you can add it to Romo. The guy can't stay healthy, he has broken his collarbone multiple times and has a bad back. If Manziel and RG3 end up in Dallas, there is good odds you will see one them play a lot
-
QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Jan 13, 2016 -> 02:17 PM) Yeah, that's not happening seeing as Tony Romo is still a top 5 quarterback when healthy. "When healthy" is a pretty important caveat in this statement
