QUOTE (Dunt @ Oct 21, 2015 -> 05:21 PM) No joke, on 670 just now, Bruce Levine said Jorge Soler has 40 HR potential if he can stay healthy. Wow. I don't think that is as far fetched as you think. The guy has some serious power, his problem is he can't stay healthy and doesn't like playing in cold weather

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Oct 21, 2015 -> 05:07 PM) I was born in 1981, when I was a kid I used to watch Empire Strikes Back repeatedly. My parents were not into the movies at all, so hard to tell where I got it from. Episodes I, II and III unfortunately suffer due to being compared with IV, V, VI. There is just no way to have the shock factor of the Darth Vader reveal in the prequels. Who knows what the reception would be if you dont know that Anakin turns into Darth Vader, the same goes for Obi-Wan, Yoda, Palpatine, etc. There is just no way to repeat the impact of the originals because there was no surprise. That is why they erased all of the post Return of the Jedi canon. Will they be as good as IV, V, IV? Who knows. It will be hard to compare, but they have a chance to be really good. Oh and I wouldnt be surprised if Luke is in semi-exile like Obi-Wan. In fact I wouldnt be surprised if it follows a very similar story arc. Luke tries to train new Jedi's and one of them turns to the dark side, with Luke having to come back to defeat them. The funny thing is that is a big part of the post RotJ canon that was erased. Luke goes off to be by himself and then starts a Jedi training "academy". One of the trainees finds a Sith temple on the planet they are on, and a Sith ghost basically brings the kid to the dark side. The rumor is that Luke goes into exile in the movie because he fears his own power and how it could be corrupted like his father was.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 21, 2015 -> 02:31 PM) My biggest problem with you is you often do not read my posts. You have some preconceived notion of me and you don't want to accept the fact I may be a normal law abiding good person. I have never denied I was guilty; I paid the fine the next day. As far as the kid flying through the intersection at 1 a.m., I'd see the bicyclists light on his bike in that scenario and I did 'stop' I just rolled through. I would ask you and all soxtalkers to comment on my comment about the cop breaking the unwritten rulebook code of cop-citizen in this case. Warning, no ticket for such an offense when the driver has nothing on his record. Baseball has a ton of unwritten rules; the cops had one in this town as well until I got pinched. Patently false. I read them, and i see you talking in third person all the time telling everyone "greg has supporters they just dont post about it" and nonsense like that. There is nothing pre-conceived, it is conceived by reading what you write. I know you paid your fine. I know you abide by the law. I also know that you have done nothing but repeatedly slam a cop for doing his job "to fill the city coffers" as you like to state it. It is the cops discretion if he should or shouldnt issue a ticket vs a warning. Sorry dude, you lost, this isnt baseball and there are not unwritten rules. It has nothing to do with coffers, or him laughing back in his cruiser. If you would have stopped, he would have left you alone.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 21, 2015 -> 01:48 PM) Because it's like baseball's "unwritten rule book." The unwritten cop-law-abiding citizen rule book says you get a warning for such a non-heinous crime such as rolling a stop sign when basically nobody's on the road. The cop had to be laughing his ass off on his way back to the car after nailing me. You can tell if a guy is being pompous to you and he was. The prick got his 140 bucks for the city. He should have done a little endzone dance for me cause he won the battle, yes he did. He really wanted a DUI though and didn't get the quinella this time. What if you rolled through that stop sign like you obviously think you should be able to, at any time you want with no repurcussions, and some kid riding his bike home flies through the intersection in a black hoodie that makes him very hard to see and you hit him because you blew the stop sign? Why dont you quit begging for sympathy, pay your ticket, and stop at a stop sign like I do every time I get to one? And stop complaining about it. I dont support you, and the only one here being pompous is you because you feel like you dont deserve a ticket for breaking the law. the cop was doing his job

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 21, 2015 -> 11:39 AM) Schwarber, Baez and Soler for Sale. Probably would have to substitute Castro for Baez or Soler....making the deal a no go but definitely interesting. Maybe we could throw in Avi and Sanchez/Micah to get Soler back. White Sox sign Jordan Zimmermann. Instant title. Sale would of course end up like Mike Sirotka or Matt Karchner and Cubs' fans would be whining for decades. this is such terrible. much much terrible

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Oct 21, 2015 -> 10:02 AM) The Nationals are a good example. They shut down Strasburg in 2012 because they just assumed they'd be at the top of the NL for the next 5-6 years. The Cubs' position players are young but their pitching staff is pretty much all on the wrong side of 30 and old pitchers are a big injury risk. They couldnt account for how bad of a manager Williams was. And the pitching staff is right at 30, Zimmerman is 29, Scherzer is 31, Gio is 30, Strasburg is 27, Roark is 30, Fister is 31. It isnt like they are an old rotation

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 21, 2015 -> 06:46 AM) He said he was healthy. Doubt they would have pitched him the last day of the year if he wasnt. Im sure he is a healthy scratch. Because that totally makes sense in a pitching needy team, to scratch Mark Buehrle -
QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 21, 2015 -> 12:29 AM) I've been paying a lot of money to the city lately. Just had to send in my registration fees for the car. Along with the money for the ticket. do you hear that sound? It is the worlds smallest violin playing the worlds saddest song

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Oct 21, 2015 -> 06:53 AM) Yeah, he deleted it and made his Twitter private, so now it's like nothing ever happened... Internet doesn't forget terrible tweets, if you really want to find it you can

I could see this KC squad lighting up a sore shoulder Buehrle just as easy as they did to Dickey -
i remember going to the Carbondale theater to watch the Re-Release of a New Hope and it was crazy, people were all dressed up, the age range was from small child to middle age adult (some elderly), and the place was PACKED. For weeks, they pulled in that crowd every weekend. On movies that were 20-25 years old

Maddon had his weekly call in to Goff & Speigel and said that he will not change the starter tomorrow regardless of the outcome today.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Oct 20, 2015 -> 12:39 PM) It was implied that I was asking for some kind of comment in response, but fine, I didn't ask a question. I also wasn't like "oh boy you guys are such nerds!! Dumb dumb dumb!" it was implied QUOTE (juddling @ Oct 20, 2015 -> 12:45 PM) I had to be 7 or 8 when we went to see the original Star Wars. I remember liking the movie but my biggest memory from that day was it was the first time I was allowed to salt my popcorn myself...and damn did I blow THAT job. I remember it was like eating a salt lick. Just thinking about it now, makes my blood pressure rise 30 points. this is hilarious

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Oct 20, 2015 -> 11:24 AM) I think having a healthy Avisail Garcia with some learning experience time will work out for the Sox. He has a ton of talent and I think he is willing to do what is necessary to improve as a player. Why throw him out to pick up a castoff? Plus I think Trayce Thompson may very well be in contention as the 4th OF'er or a starter, if the team moves around, or changes, the DH role Because Avisail is starting to look like a castoff himself

QUOTE (shysocks @ Oct 20, 2015 -> 09:17 AM) This is not specific to the Cubs, but I caught the news this morning and I have a complaint. Why are we still interviewing people on the street about their team? Has anybody in the world ever given a s*** that the guy waiting outside Wrigley for SRO tickets says the Cubbies are going all the way? I give a s***

White Sox have worked out Eddy Julio Martinez twice or more
Kyyle23 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Oct 20, 2015 -> 09:10 AM) that is exactly my point. because a team went over/under on a pick means nothing in isolation about whether it was dumb/smart/cheap/aggressive, whatever. thats not quite the same as "who cares how much you spend on any one player" -

Kyyle23 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Oct 20, 2015 -> 09:06 AM) so what is the right strategy then? strategies change with drafts, there shouldnt be a blanket strategy for every draft. Sometimes special talents are identified that you have to shell out a little bit more money than you anticipated, and you have to lowball other picks in order to retain the guy. -

QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Oct 20, 2015 -> 08:58 AM) In the draft now you have a set amount of $$ to spend. so who cares if you go over/under on any one pick in particular as long as you use all the money you are able to. because this could affect negotiations with a later pick, thats why teams care -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 19, 2015 -> 03:41 PM) So answer my question: Do Sox get a wildcard this past season if we had Madden instead of "I run a loose spring training camp and don't teach bunting or fundamentals" Robin Ventura? Remember Minnie almost made the playoffs. I say with Madden we were IN. John Madden would be too busy saying "BOOM" And the question is not really answerable
