QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jan 8, 2015 -> 04:02 PM) Ballard knew after 12 years here where the skeletons of this mess of a franchise were hidden and management does not want to give real power to anyone not connected to a McCaskey. If Ballard pulled out good for him. Lmao this is such an about face for you. Before this hire all you could do was complain same ole same ole Bears don't hire anyone they don't know blah blah. Now when they do, you act like Ballard would have been good to come in and fix it because he has been here and knows where the skeletons are and the McCaskeys want all the power.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 8, 2015 -> 11:30 AM) Garbage before garbage. I cant think of a director (or directors) that hit the scene with such a good movie like the Matrix only to follow it with as many duds as the Wachowskis have. And somehow studios keep writing huge checks to them

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jan 8, 2015 -> 11:03 AM) Yes you interview with all sorts of people and the opinions are weighed and eventually the buck stops with the person in need of the person to be hired, who has the most knowledge of the role the person will fill. If when the GM is hired all of these interviews take place again you are correct and the process is as you are pointing out. What would think if you went into a company and they interviewed you and at the end they said. Thank you for your time but this process meant nothing as the hiring manager is not yet employed. Ted and George are interviewing a person for a job that they are not qualified to hire them for. Recruiters can send people to you to hire all of the time and the person that hires them should have knowledge of the position they will file. I guess I am just jaded in thinking that Ted and George should not be the sole interviewing parties. This whole process seems like they went into it blindly and had no ideas of what the process would be. Same as the last GM and coaching hire. All of this work to find the right candidate because they had no clue who they wanted and then had no ability to find the right candidates anyway. But if you are being interviewed by the President and CEO, it really doesnt matter. You are jaded, but i dont fault you for it because the Bears have made a lot of mistakes. Hopefully they get things right this time.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 8, 2015 -> 10:58 AM) Saw this on another board. This is from someone who "supposedly" has a close connection to someone within the Bears organization. Take it for what you will, but the individual indicates the Bears will announce they have hired Pace prior to interviewing Bowles. Evidently he blew the Bears away. I am still hoping it is Ballard. If that is the case, i wonder if Ballard has any regrets about telling everyone he is not interested

lol. Oh Jason In regards to that rotation, one of the things i remember about the 94 season was that McDowell and Fernandez started the season rather mediocre, but Alvarez and Bere started the season undefeated for like a month and a half, which nobody expected.

Tim Raines HOF
QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jan 7, 2015 -> 01:33 PM) Yeah, he's a pretty clear-cut HOF guy, IMO. His problem was he excelled at things that were underappreciated by the public (not necessarily by players/managers) at the time he was active. And he also played in the same timeframe of the greatest lead off hitter and base stealer of all time. Quite a shadow to get out from under

2015 TV Thread
Agent Carter actually wasnt bad, It was a lot better start than Agents of SHIELD. There were a lot of Captain America flashbacks, and I was glad that they kept the same actor(Dominic Cooper) as Howard Stark, and it seems like he is going to be a mainstay. I dont know if they will be able to maintain it, but it was an interesting pilot.

Yesterday I was listening to The Score and Mully mentioned that Gasol has 75 blocks this season, and Boozer had 92 the entire time he was with the Bulls.

The Winter/Spring Weather Complaint Thread
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 6, 2015 -> 03:55 PM) The guy added a whole addition himself and the plumbing and HVAC is just half-assed. He cut some corners, for example, instead of peeling off the old wooden siding, adding insulation and putting on siding, he just put new siding over the old one. That sounds like a wonderful little place for things to go like carpenter ants

Would you have done things different?
QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jan 6, 2015 -> 03:19 PM) My impression is that he's a bit of a loose cannon -- he'll do whatever it takes to be successful, even if it's eccentric. That's great for fans, but I get the sense that the MLB owner's club wants guys they know are willing to play nice with the status quo. I agree, his issues with the NBA office have really hurt his ability to get in with other sports. The funny thing is he has really been a lot better than he was at the beginning, it's just a stigma that follows him around now.
