  1. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 27, 2013 -> 04:24 PM) The Cavs are f***ing terrible. They just took Bennett first overall. That says it all. That little idiot kid with the glasses might have all the ping pong ball luck, but management has f***ed it all up. They could be rocking Kyrie, Drummond, and Oladipo. Instead they have Kyrie and Jack s***. lmao, terrible
  2. Ratliff and Paea practiced today. They were limited, but both of them were in helmets. Getting those two in the lineup would help a lot in the run game.
  3. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Nov 27, 2013 -> 01:23 PM) Or maybe they know it was just a flukey paper trail that got him caught, and he should be able to cheat to the level he always has without getting caught again, unless he's really, really dumb about it. dumb like have his friends and agent create a fake vitamin supplier?
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 27, 2013 -> 12:37 PM) ChiCitySports.Com Bears: 21 of Michael Bush's 41 carries this season have gone for ONE yard or less. sadly, it seems like that is more than I remember
  5. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 27, 2013 -> 11:30 AM) I love Holmes. If he is indeed getting a full time spot, that's fantastic imo. I like him, but his forced laugh irritates me. Grobber is a joke, I really cant listen to that guy. I love when his producer calls him out and they run with it the next day
  6. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Nov 27, 2013 -> 09:34 AM) Isn't Grobstein's over night show something different now, the guy.....Farrell that used to be on the Howard Stern channels I think Dont think so, the daytime shows still make fun of him all the time. They have been running his clip of him singing "Bear Down" for the past three weeks after the Bears beat the Packers
  7. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Nov 27, 2013 -> 09:41 AM) China won't f*** with Japan as long as we have Japan's back. This is all saber rattling. They have been f***ing with Japan over these islands for a while now
  8. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Nov 27, 2013 -> 09:28 AM) How do these teams that switch conferences get the games scheduled. They also added an extra game a year or two back. I think some games are locked in, the major OOC games Texas/OSU, ND/Michigan, I think the patsies are added a little later along with the conference games. The fact is teams will not travel to Dekalb, you wanna play NIU, play them at Soldier Field. Major teams want to play in major stadiums. As they should. If the American conference, I do not even know what that is, gets an automatic bid, NIU makes it no worse. Now with Fresno, NIU and that silly American conference game the BCS games drop down in visibility. One of those make sense but all three, nope. Northern needs to pass Fresno to get in. Iowa is actually looking like a decent win fro NIU. NIU has also won big recently and is playing its best football of the season. That along with a tie into the Chicago market gives them a decent marketing niche. The best thing for Northern would be a Gator or Outback bowl against another 10-20th ranked team. Sadly, that is not an option. A good game would be New Year's Day, NIU V Northwestern or even NIU v Notre Dame at the good ole Soldier Field or the Wrigley Field. Chicago really should have built a dome stadium. BUT THE SKYLINE!!!!
  9. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 27, 2013 -> 09:10 AM) Of course it is but the facilities and money at those small schools don't lend itself to consistent results. On the Lynch for heisman front. Check out the 2003 voting and tell me Roethlisberger wasn't better than Jason white. But the MAC doesn't count. It would be an interesting discussion nowadays, because with how much exposure the sport gets now I bet Big Ben would very much be in the discussion like Lynch. Truthfully, it is an entirely different beast now
  10. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 27, 2013 -> 08:55 AM) No the Risk is they suck and that s***ty OOC game costs you with the polls. Or is schedule not one of the qualifiers you've used to discount team rankings? Im not discounting anything Rock. I know the pecking order of teams/conferences, its just funny when people get their panties in a bunch when a lesser conference dares step foot in the circle of awesome. I hope for these lesser teams to build on the exposure they get when they get to where NIU has gotten the past couple years, much in the way Boise State did. I want more parity in college football, not "Well they got here now they will get destroyed by the team that has been here for the past 30 years". Wite is correct, the system is broken. No easy fix, no rational fix at this point. It will continue on, SEC will dominate, other conferences like Big Ten/12/Pac will have challengers, and we will all keep watching.
  11. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Nov 27, 2013 -> 08:15 AM) Because that's a no win situation, plus schedules being set so far in advance, they could easily suck when you play them. But really, why should that matter? When they get teams like Middle Tennessee St to come to their place and blow them out, its not that big a deal. There is only one risk for the big conferences, a loss. They arent refusing because the competition might suck(unless you mean your own team might suck. Which I understand for some teams like the current Illini. But SEC teams should never worry about those things)
  12. QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Nov 27, 2013 -> 01:15 AM) Work, for the most part. If something is going on in the sports world that I'm interested in, I'll find a way to mix it in with my music while I drive as well. I'm also one of those people that fall asleep better with background noise, so while I bought an air purifier that has a nice, steady hum for that reason, I'll sometimes have The Les Grobstein Takes Calls From the Stupid Show that airs overnights on 670. Most of my my sports talk consumption, though, takes place leading up to and during the baseball season. With the Bears/NFL- after the third or fourth day of talking about the same game, it's just not that riveting anymore. No denying that they are and will be for the foreseeable future, it's just not my cup of tea. I wouldn't be pouncing on my radio to absorb every second of Chicago Sky or Chicago Bandits talk if they were dominating their respective leagues either. Sheesh, you can listen to Grobstein but you cant stand Holmes?
  13. QUOTE (Jake @ Nov 26, 2013 -> 11:28 PM) Under what cirucmstances are you guys listening to so much sports radio? At work? On the way there/home? Just for funzies? In the car and at work. I have the TuneIn app on my phone, so I listen a lot
  14. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Nov 27, 2013 -> 12:08 AM) Dude, come on. No one wants to see NIU play Baylor or Mizzou or Auburn or Clemson and be totally outmatched. It's annoying. Yes, they "hung in there" for a while against FSU last year, but Lynch averaged 4.3 yards/pass and 1.9 yards/rush and NIU was outgained 534-259. If FSU didn't have so many penalties and EJ Manuel knew how to finish a drive, they'd have gotten blown out. FSU's fullback ran for 134 yards on 5 carries and outran everyone on NIU's D. I don't blame NIU one bit. It's not their fault the system is the way it is. But on behalf of everyone in the world that isn't an NIU fan, keep these guys out of the BCS. Hey, if they wanted to design a system to keep these guys out, then they should have. NIU has played their games and earned their spot according to the rules the system set up, and people still get pissed. I don want to see them get blown out anymore than I wanted to see ND get stomped by Bama or Zooks Illini get kicked around by USC, but hey, that's how it goes sometimes. And every once in a while these teams surprise you and actually win like Boise State did.
  15. QUOTE (Donaldo @ Nov 26, 2013 -> 08:52 PM) McNeil has been out for about a month now, and the show was renamed "Spiegel And Holmes." Hmmmm. Yea he left saying he was getting treatment for depression but it is starting to look permanent. Probably for the best for the station. McNeil would come back, then leave for a few weeks, then repeat
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 26, 2013 -> 04:05 PM) ChiTribSports ‏@ChiTribSports 5m Ex-Illini Jereme Richmond headed to prison http://trib.in/1cN1nXr Quite a dramatic fall from grace. Just a stupid kid though. Threatening your probation officer? Wtf is wrong with you
  17. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Nov 26, 2013 -> 07:02 PM) At least those teams deserved to be there. Lol. Ok
  18. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Nov 26, 2013 -> 06:42 PM) Because we saw it, and it sucked. Many a BCS bowl have sucked that have had big conference teams
  19. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Nov 26, 2013 -> 06:02 PM) Does somebody that cheated really deserve that much money?? Even taking cheating out of the equation, does Peralta deserve that kind of money? Dude is 1 year removed from a pretty s***ty season, and it isn't like he is young
  20. I am still in disbelief that Peralta got the money he did, from the Cardinals of all places.
  21. Tonite NIU takes another step towards angering everyone that does not want to share the precious BCS
  22. days like this i just turn off sports radio. people calling in saying the Bulls should amnesty Rose. SMH, try and understand the process before you call in and say dumb things
  23. I saw Reigns do a little standoffish stuff with the other two guys also. a few things were put in motion
