  1. Maybe Kenny told Ozzie to throw Marte and Vizcaino out there so they can showcase their arms before the deadline.
  2. Sweeney's not leaving KC. He's their franchise player and they want to build their team around him.
  3. Anybody see the White Sox buying out his contract. I mean he's a good player when healthy and he puts fear into the opposing pitcher. We want him to retire with the White Sox and spend his whole career here...BUT he gets injured way too much and this injury will not go away. Here's the lead...Sorry if this has been posted http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb...t=.jsp&c_id=cws Someone told me that Offman reported that the Sox would buyout his contract but he's not sure if the Sox will make him a new offer.
  4. The good news is that this is known to us before the deadline. Get well big man.
  5. I wouldnt mind having Baez as an insurance in the bullpen if Hermanson goes down.
  6. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 05:15 PM) This bring up the question though, who would you rather have, Aubrey Huff, or Overbay? Overbay is a good glove at first and he is a good doubles hitter and a better home run hitter at Comiscular. He only makes 500K. Huff is pretty good D at first and OF but not third.
  7. He's a future HOF'er but his contract and trade value is too high for us to handle. Like someone said, he is making more than our whole outfield combined. I cant imagine what the Bo Sox would ask for in return. There is no chance the Red Sox would trade him to us.
  8. This is good news for our bullpen. I hope he can fix his problems and come back to help this ball club.
  9. QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 09:44 AM) I saw that quote too, and my initial reaction was the same...but then I thought I was taking it out of context. I now think it was more of a "christ, they put me in once every two weeks and I screw up the one time I'm in....I suck" Yeah me too, he just seemed hard at himself. I dont think he was complaining. He was down on himself. Id probably be too.
  10. Id only wait until the last minute to trade with them until they are totally desperate so we can steal a player from them. Otherwise I dont want to help them. I do not want these guys in the playoffs cause they got so much experience and they know how to persevere in the pressure tight situations in the playoffs. Basically i dont want to help their chances of making it in to the post season. You can call me nuts cause of the way they have played this year and their pathetic pitching somebody wouldnt mind facing them, but JMO.
  11. I dont want to give the Yanks anything. This is good that they have to rely on Leiter and they are thinking about getting Shawn Chacon.
  12. I dont agree with what Ozzie is doing with Cotts. Lefties are hitting better against him than righties. So I dont know why he puts him in for one guy, which happens to be a lefty and after he walks him he pulls him from the game. This will kill his confidence and take him off his rhythm. The whole lefty-left / righty-righty is overrated unless you are a proven specialist. Marte looks shaken by the trade talks. He looks nervous and is walking way too many lefties. Vizcaino is looking better and has lowered his era to 3.86 from a 6.86. Jenks looks impressive but still needs some work before I can make an assessment on how effective he can be. Overall pretty good but i wouldnt mind another arm in there.
  13. Im still wating for KW to suprise us all and pull off a blockbuster.
  14. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 09:00 PM) The article didn't say Cantu would be in this deal. Just said "a deal". I'd would love to have Huff. He seems to be swinging the bat great these days. He has had 2 grand slams this week alone.
  15. He looked good despite being tired an not having his usual velocity. He was using his curveball efectively especially against Sweeney. I think he will be something special in the future for the Sox.
  16. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 10:01 PM) One of my biggest concerns is that our pitchers aren't pitching over the mistakes made by the rest of the team like they were early in the year. Lately, if we make an error, it leads to all hell breaking loose. good observation. Yeah I think the top of the order, with Podsednik, is not taking walks like he used to. He needs to take more pitches and work the count more. The middle of the order is too inconsistent. Like many have written, PK is way to streaky to be batting fourth. Pierznski is starting to heat up as well as Rowand but the bottom of the order, with Uribe especially, sucks. His only strenght at offense is that he is good at getting sacrifice flies but witha all his struggles at the plate, he is by far the worst hitter on the team. He strikes out way too much and chases to many bad pitches. He needs to work on pitch selection and he has to follow through his swing. He always staggers at the end of his swing.
  17. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 05:51 PM) according to Boers & Bernstein 40.3% of the Sox Runs have come off the Home Run. Maybe the offense hasn't changed at all. this is not good.
  18. A combination of bad managing and bad defense led to the loss. I hope this series loss to the Royals wakes up the team.
  19. He's ok and i really like this new baseball show where Bruce Levine comes in too.
  20. If Ozzie left Garland in there we woulda won for sure he was only like at 85 when he got pulled. AND then he wasted 1/2 our pen in 2 inn. Oh well, these hard games will come. I hope everybody checked out of the game unhurt. Oh yeah i gotta tip my cap to Jenks. He didnt have his 100 mph heater today but was mixing his pitches well, expecially against Sweeney. Lets go get Baltimore on Friday.
  21. I hope Hernandez doesnt injure any of our players. This guys hits so many people.
  22. Im sure KW would try to avoid Weaver because he is a Boras agent. Personally, I think Odalis Perez would better the better man from LA.
