Good work guys. God dammit I hate Yankee fans.
-
Right now this looks like a steal for the Mets....until Drew Butera hits .400 for the Twins in 2010.
-
It was a stupid move by Kenny to re-sign him this year anyway. It was even a worse move by Kenny to sign Darin Erstad. Last off-season has the potential to be one of the worst off-seasons by the Sox in recent memory.

Expect Mets to seriously pursue Iguchi

QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Jul 25, 2007 -> 12:40 PM) I would wonder why Arizona would need OFs...they already have 3 or 4 of the best young OFs in the game...one of the reasons they may shop Quentin or C.Young. I know what you mean. I wouldn't be interested in Milledge, but if I'm the Dbacks I am most certainly interested in Carlos Gomez. Jose Reyes even came out and said that Gomez was actually faster than he is. If he puts it all together, he can be scary good. -

If the Mets are looking to acquire a 2B, it's going to be Orlando Hudson. Arizona wants either Milledge/Gomez and Pelfrey in return. IMO Hudson isn't worth that price. -

QUOTE(AirScott @ Jul 23, 2007 -> 05:25 PM) I just read the article about this on MLB.com...Gotay has only taken five walks, and it didn't sound like Willie Randolph is too high on any of these guys. Would you be? He's higher on him than you think he is. All Willie does is rave about him when he gets a start. He has performed very well for the Mets this season. Trust me. -
Yankees looking at Garland, Thornton?

The Post is a tabloid. Never take anything from that paper seriously. (Unless it is printed elsewhere.) -

I really don't think the Mets are going to trade for Iguchi. They have Ruben Gotay, Damion Easley, AND now Marlon Anderson. The only way I see the Mets trading for Iguchi is if they basically get him for cheap. (Which I hope to god they don't.) There is no way they would give up a guy like Pelfrey or Milledge for Iguchi when they have that many options at 2B, that and Gotay is having a pretty good year. (Granted he's only had 107 at bats, but he's hitting .336.) -
I'm sick of this. Enough of this garbage, Kenny, either trade him or re-sign him. Stop toying with us.
-
I'm telling you guys right now, Minaya is not going to give up Carlos Gomez or Martinez. Those are his two untouchables. If he gives up either of those guys, I'd be shocked. Plain and simple, set in stone, especially for a Jose Contreras. The one guy that is a possibility is Milledge (management is pissed as hell at him, he's a gone goose come July 31st.) I'm pretty sure Milledge will be the guy that this deal is centered around if it goes down.

QUOTE(DaGame2584 @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 10:54 AM) Well here is some stats from the "Great" Mets pitching staff against recent AL opponents. Glavine - 4.1 IN 9 ER vs Det 4.0 IN 7 ER vs NYY 8.0 IN 1 ER vs Oak Maine - 7.1 IN 1 ER vs Minn 7.0 IN 2 ER vs Oak (Don't forget his awesome 2005 season in the AL w/ Bal and his 6.30 era) Perez - 5.0 IN 5 ER vs Det 7.1 IN 0 ER vs NYY 5.1 IN 4 ER vs Minn Hernandez - 4.2 IN 6 ER vs NYY 7.0 IN 0 ER vs Oak Sosa - 8.0 IN 0 ER vs Det 3.1 IN 5 ER vs Minn That is 71.1 innings pitched and 40 earned run which makes the Mets starters have a 5.07 era vs the AL. BTW - I'd take the two picks over Milledge as well. The organization needs depth that is why teams like the Tigers can do what they do. IMO I hope the Sox trade Mark to the Braves for Salty and maybe someone else. I think Milledge will not fulfill all of the hype he gets. I also believe the Sox should start spending some money in the international scouting department. Those stats don't mean squat. May I remind you that the St. Louis Cardinals won the World Series last year? How did they match up in interleague play against the AL Central? Playoff baseball is a whole other monster. The Mets are not interested in Buehrle. They are interested more in Contreras. Take it for what it's worth.

How is Greg Walker still employed? This is a joke. Fire him already Kenny. God dammit.

QUOTE(danman31 @ Jun 22, 2007 -> 09:18 PM) Awesome As for the timing, I would think they wouldn't want to take out the draft head guy before the draft. It would be a bit of a mess otherwise. I am just making that up, but it sounds plausible. Not likely. Shaffer has probably been working on scouting those kids thoroughly since late October. By axing him before the draft that pretty much takes away a lot of information gathered, especially when the estimated number of players that each organization looks at is around 700. This was the right time if any to axe Duane Shaffer. Hopefully whoever replaces him knows how to draft good young talent.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 22, 2007 -> 04:01 PM) You won't find a faster defensive outfield than Soriano, Pie, and Pagan. Please list one that is faster. Carlos Gomez, Carlos Beltran and when he's playing Endy Chavez. (That's only when Green and Alou are both hurt though.)

Was it the Rally Borat?????
-
Do we still have the rally crede??? Rally something? Any one have a rally Defibrillator?
-
That's horse s***.
-
Amazing what happens when you take some pitches on Zambrano. Get this bastard riled up!!!
-
Nice.

QUOTE(diegotony06 @ Jun 22, 2007 -> 03:03 PM) Let's see if we can get a hit this inning. I say we score 2 this inning. If that happens I want you to also tell me the winning lotto numbers.

QUOTE(Allsox @ Jun 22, 2007 -> 02:56 PM) He's thrown Strike 1 on 7 of the 9 hitters he's faced so Step 1 of your gameplan isn't a good idea right now. Hell, Terrero had an 8 pitch count and he still struck out. At least you get his pitch count up and that way we can get him out of the game. My plan is at least a plan in itself. These worthless pieces of s*** don't even have a plan except swing for the fences. Any plan is better than no plan.
-
These idiots don't even have a game plan. The game plan with Zambrano has always been take as many pitches as you can, step out of the box and throw off his timing. When the guy gets pissed and annoyed he loses all poise on the mound. Turn his emotions against him god dammit.
-
I'm amazed that Greg Walker still has a job. He should have been fired after April.
-
Reports of New York say that Pedro is healthy and will be ready to pitch by the first week of August. However, Omar Minaya is still shopping around for another starting pitcher and possibly some bullpen help.....

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jun 21, 2007 -> 10:45 AM) Then he doesn't get Buehrle. Beggers can't be choosers. You can be the fastest guy in the world, and if you can't hit (Gomez, career .279 in the MINORS), then running fast isn't really going to make a difference. You're going to judge him by his minor league numbers? The kid can hit, I've seen him play. He's A LOT better of an option than any outfielder we have on the club right now.
