Tonight sucks. At least I'm drunk.

Jesus Christ.

I'm so sick watching this pathetic excuse of a team. So frustrating.

Olivo is such a pu$$y. Last year he got pissed at Jose Reyes for hot dogging around the bases, and almost incited a brawl at third base. Between he and Jose Guillen, the Royals better have an anger management therapist on call 24/7. -
QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Jul 29, 2008 -> 08:58 PM) 3 more innings, sox will get 0 hits vs. the Twins pen. We are going to be swinging for the moon. Wrong.

Fields needs to hit a homerun.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 28, 2008 -> 06:57 PM) Go away. We rocked Slowey last time, this game isn't even close to over. Did you not watch the first 2 games in DET? Agreed. It's the third inning. Some of you are just ridiculous.

QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Jul 10, 2008 -> 08:54 PM) you're oversimplifying this, baseball is by far the least "Team Oriented" of all the major sports, it has more individual matchups than any other sport does It's still a team game. That's my point. -

QUOTE (Soxpranos @ Jul 10, 2008 -> 08:48 PM) Try watching football, basketball and hockey and you will see what the definition of team is, baseball is full of self centered stats and players. I have access to various media outlets including ESPN. Thanks for you concern. Have a good night. -

QUOTE (Soxpranos @ Jul 10, 2008 -> 08:46 PM) We don't bunt or sacrifice bunt, so that's as close as "Team" comes into play in this game. Football, basketball, hockey are "Team Games". You're ridiculous. The same batter doesn't bat 9 times in one game does he? How about one pitcher? Having one outstanding player doesn't constitute a winning team. -

QUOTE (quickman @ Jul 10, 2008 -> 08:43 PM) yes its baseball but that doesn't mean konerko is not to blame. I think that is the point of the bashing. As I stated in my original post. Konerko f*cked up that play, but he's not solely responsible. That's why in my mind he can't be single handedly blamed for this loss. Was he the main contribution to the loss? Yes. Was he the only contributor? No. That's my stance. -

QUOTE (Soxpranos @ Jul 10, 2008 -> 08:41 PM) Baseball is the least of any sports that use "Team" efforts to win. Where have you been the last 10 years. How is baseball not a team game? Last time I checked if the ball is hit into play the pitcher doesn't field the ball and then run to first all single handedly does he? What about sacrafice bunts, flys? The examples are endless. It's none of your business where I have been the last 10 years. I have been a lot closer to the game than the average joe. Let's just leave it at that. Unless of course you have any other questions. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 10, 2008 -> 08:39 PM) If PK catches that, you have a 1-0 lead with 2 outs in the 8th. I'll take my chances. No kidding. Who wouldn't, but he didn't. That's baseball. -

QUOTE (tommy @ Jul 10, 2008 -> 08:38 PM) I mostly agree, but this whole game they were so lethargic at the plate! They showed no energy whatsoever. Right. Notice the key words you used there.."they." Baseball is a team game. Always has been always will be. We lost tonight because we didn't execute. Offensively and defensively. -

I hate this board sometimes. You guys do realize that Konerko isn't solely responsible for the loss in this game right? The offense scored 1 run, and the bullpen didn't limit the damage, and Alexi also had his head up his ass on the relay. Paulie did f*ck up bad, but to blame this loss solely on his shoulders is ridiculous. We still won 2 out of 3.....we were in my opinion fortunate enough to do that. -

QUOTE (Frankensteiner @ Jun 25, 2008 -> 10:43 PM) How is playing the Dodgers any less meaningful than playing the Mariners or Rangers? Easy. Because both of those teams are in our league....and at one point we may possibly be competing against them for a wildcard spot. (Even though we are not this year.) Beating teams in the same league will have a more direct impact on the pennant race than playing the Nationals, Astros, Reds etc. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 25, 2008 -> 10:38 PM) Honestly, I'm not worried about the Twins long term. I don't believe they have the starting pitching to last the rest of the season. As a scout told my brother, if the Twins win, it's more because the Sox and Tigers struggled during the 2nd half of the season than the Twins going out and running away with the division. I agree. I think they're going to fade down the stretch, especially away from the Twinkie dome. I'm just so frustrated with these interleague games. I could care less about any of these matchups. It needs to be restructured. I'd much rather see us play teams from the AL East or West as opposed to NL teams. I wouldn't even mind more inter-division games. These games are meaningless to me. -

QUOTE (Frankensteiner @ Jun 25, 2008 -> 10:34 PM) Rockies just got swept in KC. C'mon. Dodgers lost 2 of 3 against Cleveland. They are all terrible teams. A Kansas City team that is 9-1 in their last 10. As another poster said, this isn't the first season which the Twins have matched up against piss poor opponents. Other teams in different divisions have the same disadvantage. This is why interleague play is stupid. Play your rival 3 times a year, and maybe one other series. That's more than enough. -

QUOTE (Frankensteiner @ Jun 25, 2008 -> 10:29 PM) It's not there's a big difference between Colorado/Dodgers vs. Nationals/Pads. Only difference is Sox will be 2-3 against those teams and Minnesota will be 5-0 after tonight. Lately there has been. The Nationals are a AAA team, and San Diego has been horrid all season long. The Rockies have been playing better of late, and I still think the Dodgers are good enough to win the NL West. -

Granted we've played like crap, but I can't stand these interleague matchups. Minnesota has had the luxury of playing the Nationals and Padres. What a complete joke. Why are they even playing Washington? Why did we play Colorado. These matchups are just stupid. -
