Rays (51-42) @ White Sox (48-44) 7:11pm CSN-HD

QUOTE (Capn12 @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 09:43 PM) Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory like no other team can. You haven't seen a lot of Mets games this year have you? LOL. Just go get them tomorrow, if you were to tell me we'd be 2 games out July 21st in May, I'd take it in a heart beat. -
I've wanted Walker gone since 2006. Pull the plug. Enough is enough. Also do the White Sox have a minor league video program, or a minor league video coordinator? How do all these young starters continue to dominate us? It seems to be an organizational problem that has lingered for quite some time.

Question for Greg Walker haters...
CWSOX45 replied to Kenny Hates Prospects's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ May 15, 2009 -> 02:09 PM) In all seriousness, if you could, would you trade a pretty good prospect or two to the Rangers for Rudy Jaramillo? And if so, what type of package would be the breaking point? And if you were the Rangers, what would it take to let go of your hitting coach? Serious question here folks. I'm wondering. Hell yes. I don't know about trading a prospect for him though. I'd even go as far as trying to hire several of their minor league hitting coaches away from them, particularly in AAA and AA. The reason? All of these coaches and meet with each other during spring training, they adapt the same drills and teach the same things throughout the entire organization. Greg Walker needs to go. Over the past three years our players go up to the plate without a plan, and look foolish. It just hasn't been this group of hitters either, it's been other players that are no longer with the White Sox. Tonight is a perfect example in all honesty, there are AAA players that would go up to the plate with a better approach then what I've seen tonight. You can call me crazy if you want, but it's the truth. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 10, 2009 -> 08:25 PM) 4 good ones...I'm still very disappointed KW didn't acquire another righty reliever. He should know by now that you can't count on everyone in the bullpen repeating their previous season's numbers. But he improved Birmingham's depth at least!! I'm more disappointed that we have one of the league's worst defensive outfields. Quentin, Wise, and Dye could very possibly be the worst defensive outfield in all of baseball. It's a joke. -

QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Apr 10, 2009 -> 08:23 PM) Homerun or die trying It's been like that for 2 years, and for those last two years I've been calling for Walker's head. There is no excuse not to execute against a guy like RA Dickey. None. -

Amazing what short quick to the point swings do for a baseball team. I wish our players, and Greg Walker would take note. -

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Apr 10, 2009 -> 08:18 PM) He really is awful. Already 2-0 Padres. I really haven't watched much Giants baseball in the last few years, so I'm trying to expand my viewing. I find it really funny all the people that have been talking up Sandoval in fantasy leagues, when I bet 85% of them have never seen him swing a bat. Not surprised by this. Meanwhile Jeremy Reed gets a 2 out base hit for the Mets to tie the game up. Remember that name? -

What a joke. We're fortunate we won the opener against KC. Mentally the Sox are still in Arizona. -

Sad. Only 3 runs off of R.A. Dickey. I'm disgusted. -

Give me Clay Richard. He has the right pitchers mentality, he's a competitor, Jose just looks old and tired out there. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 10, 2009 -> 06:59 PM) Has Uribe played for San Fran yet? Yes. Three pitch strike out last night. Two fastballs and he went down swinging at a curve. I could be mistaken, but I'm pretty sure a majority of the crowd in San Fran booed him after striking out. -

Like I said, RA Dickey is garbage. We probably won't score on him this inning. God Fields please be smart and be patient. -

QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Apr 10, 2009 -> 06:44 PM) aging guys falling off (Dye/PK) is not a sign of the hitting coach doing things wrong. a lineup with no leadoff or #2 guy is also not a lot to work with. Cant count Getz in that he doesnt know these pitchers and isnt a truly ready guy. as much as we want him to be. No excuse. This is R.A. Dickey, he's trash. This has been the same offense strategy the last two seasons. Swinging at bad breaking pitches, swinging at pitches early in the count, and rarely taking the ball to the opposite field. It's basic baseball. Nearly every hitter in our line-up is a far superior hitter when they hit to all fields, specifically Pierzynski, Dye, Konerko etc. As I previously mentioned, the statistics that are prepared for hitting coaches on a regular basis is extraordinary. There is no excuse not being able to put together a successful strategy against R.A. Dickey. Like I said, if we get shut out Walker should just resign. -

If R.A. Dickey shuts the Sox out, Greg Walker should step down as hitting coach. The information available to these coaches is almost overwhelming. Walker and the Sox should very easily be able to put together a solid game plan to beat a bum like Dickey. I've been calling for Walker's head for two and a half years, so you can't just say that I'm "frustrated." -
QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ Mar 14, 2009 -> 11:06 PM) Brian Anderson cannot hit major league pitching as an everyday hitter in the majors. Quite frankly I'd rather take defense in centerfield over offense, and that's what Brian Anderson gives me. He hustles, he's got an above average arm, and he goes after every fly ball hard. Back in 2005, this team was solid up the middle defensively. Which is one reason why Kenny Williams traded away Aaron Rowand, because he knew Brian Anderson would be able to give him a similar defensive effort day in and day out.

QUOTE (rangercal @ Mar 11, 2009 -> 11:31 AM) I think it is ridiculous that MLB teams require a college degree when so many people cheat their way through school these days. The position is more of a skill/passion. If I were running a MLB team I would hire someone with the passion cryptvill seems to have, not some schmuck with a piece of paper. Most of the scouts now days aren't just a "schmuck" with a piece of paper. They usually played all four years in college, or at the minor league level. Those are the types of guys that get hired, the other group of people that are hired are guys that work hard to get there foot in the door, and after multiple internships are hired by an organization. Once these guys are hired they are sent to scout school over the winter.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Mar 10, 2009 -> 03:20 PM) Duaner Sanchez has lost 3.5 MPH off his fastball. No thanks. This is true. Which is a reason why he is relying mostly on his change-up. I saw him two days ago. He threw 50/50 fastball and change-ups. He only threw two sliders. His problem was locating his two seamer. He had no problem locating his change-up, and actually got a couple of strike-outs. If the White Sox can sign him to a minor league contract I'd be all for it. I still think he can make an impact with a Major League club.

Crypt, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but if you want to be a scout it really is in your best interest to go back to school, or even a community college. Even those with college degrees are fortunate if they get hired as scout. Most scouts are hired because they are former players, typically they either have played in the minor leagues, or have played at least 4 years in college. This makes it easier when they head off to Scout School in the spring. In order to go to scout school, you have to be sponsored by a Major League team. You just can't pay to go there by yourself. Your best bet would be calling a Major League team in your area and inquiring about the process. They'll most likely ask you about your experience in baseball, where you can fill them in. As for the PBEO job fair: Don't go there if you want to work in Major League Baseball. Those jobs are basically minor league jobs, where most of them are openings in ticket sales. However, it is a good place to start if you have nothing on your resume. After you get a couple of minor league internships, then you can focus on a Major League one. Again this is just my take on things, but I can tell you that a college degree is in your best interest.
