  1. QUOTE (BlackBetsy @ Aug 10, 2009 -> 09:07 PM) And that's your ballgame. Hardly.
  2. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Aug 7, 2009 -> 09:44 PM) Which he is...I wouldn't be surprised at all if he asked for Danks and another prospect. Doubt it. The Jays owners are desperate to shed payroll. Don't expect a boatload for Rios.
  3. Maybe we can get a "Nick Swisher" like moment like we did last year. God wouldn't that be a huge sigh of relief.
  4. This team just never makes it easy on themselves. Hopefully we can stay within 3 games of Detoilet by September.
  5. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 7, 2009 -> 08:38 PM) Good to see we can't take advantage of playing a rebuilding team at home, with our ace on the mound. Invite the Yankees back. They have no problem playing "quality" teams. That's the way it's been the past two years with this team. Always "teasing" then they revert back to crap.
  6. Ugh. This sucks. One more extra base hit and I might just go out and drink.
  7. Get it to two and hit a walk off against Kerry....or just put up a 5 spot next inning. I don't really care how it's done just do it.
  8. Amazing we're down only 3. Feels like we're down 8. Is this the inning Buehrle returns to form? I hope.
  9. QUOTE (Lemon_44 @ Aug 2, 2009 -> 07:27 PM) how come it always seems like the Sox's top pitching prospects are being said to have fastballs that top out 3-5 mph faster in the minors than what they actually show up with at the MLB level. Nunez, i know it was his debut, looks like another in a long line of supposed flame throwers that didn't show anywhere near the kind of fastball they were reported to have. The gun today had him at 91-93 while it was reported that he could bring it at 96-97. It was the same thing with Poreda and goes all the way back to Massett coming up. Does US cellular have a slow gun or are these guys a bit overhyped. I know the be all,end all is not how hard you throw but i was kind of disappointed when his first fastball showed at 91 today when i was expecting to see at least 95. The main thing is he got the out and looked pretty poised but still.......... You have to remember where the information is coming from. Not many reporters venture to Winston-Salem and Binghamton to get a look at most of these guys. Most of these reports written are taken from one or two scouts perspectives, and most of the time these reports are usually incorrect. While someone may say that Nunez hits 95 on the gun, that might be what he maxed out at, where as his average fastball range is 89-92. It's entirely possible. Just remember when you read reports on prospects to always take it with a grain of salt. Just because Baseball America claims a guy is the #1 prospect in the organization doesn't mean he's going to pan out to be an excellent Major League player. There are very few players that are actually worth all the hype and attention they receive while in AA.
  10. With how we've been hitting, I don't think three runs is out of the question. I hope I'm right.
  11. Jhonny Nunez says hello. Coming to a bullpen near you soon. Seriously I've seen the guy pitch, he's got a great arm. http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...&pid=471919
  12. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 09:12 PM) Yes, please bring back the fire Greg Walker threads. He's been getting a break since the Sox haven't hit like s*** for about a month. But now it's back! It's been like this for the past 3 seasons. I've never seen a full team trying to pull every pitch. It's so simple it's ridiculous. Look at how good of a hitter Aj was in Minnesota, what did he do? He went opposite field on a regular basis. Konerko in his prime? Opposite field power. This team has no approach at the plate, it's lift and pull, and it's the same old story. Enough already.
  13. Although I'm not ready to give up on the season, I have given up on Greg Walker's ability to come up with a plan of attack for our hitters. It's been like this for the last three years. If Kenny wants to make a move that will shake these guys up a little, it's firing Greg Walker. It's been long overdue.
  14. Last season I gave up on this team in September, and they proved myself and everyone else wrong. I can't and won't give up on them, even if we lose tonight.
  15. I can't wait until this dump is imploded. Cheers to that.
  16. QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 07:50 PM) SELL Kenny. SELL. No. That's ridiculous. We'll be 3 games back, I understand people are frustrated, but this division is there for the taking. The Sox can do it, the question is can Ozzie motivate these lifeless pieces of crap.
  17. Ozzie better rip into this lifeless team. Unbelievable. Soon to be 3 games back. What a joke, Brian Duensing is absolute garbage too.
  18. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 09:07 PM) This is it. We're done. Season over. Surprisingly...it's not. Detroit sucks as well....and I'm still not impressed with Minnesota.
  19. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 09:05 PM) the new roster nest season? i thought most people wanted everyone back? thome pk dye We've seen this the past few seasons. I'm ready to say goodbye to Greg Walker, if a change at hitting coach doesn't help then blow it up. Think about it, as a team collectively they've never put together a solid approach at the plate for an extended period of time after the first half of 2006. It's sickening.
  20. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 09:01 PM) Starting??? Good point. You have to remember I don't get the chance to watch many Sox games.
