QUOTE (kane0730 @ Jun 18, 2009 -> 02:17 PM) It sure would be nice to pick up a run here before the rain comes. Looking at the radar all the heavy stuff is well south of wrigley it might not even rain.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 18, 2009 -> 01:31 PM) If the ump doesn’t call anything on the outside corner this is not going to be a very pleasant night for Gavin The cubs have a fear of walking they'll start chasing out there.

Quentin "one bad step" from being lost for season

QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Jun 17, 2009 -> 02:09 PM) It's too bad I took the time to back up my points with data, because apparently you were just interested in flaming my post. I love the way nearly every opinion like this essentially ends with "because I think so" or "I have _____ opinion" He was arguing the hottest team going into the playoffs usually makes the series. Not that the worst team does it. Why do you think wildcard teams make the world series so often? Because usually the Wild Card race is extremely close so the team that wins that is usally hot going into the playoffs. Other then that we have a month and a half before the deadline to decide if we want to blow this team up or not. It doesn't have to begin right now. This team especially the pitching staff is showing signs of life so lets see what happens. -
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 17, 2009 -> 07:58 PM) Hahaha. Who is this guy? Bryce Harper is the Steven Strasburg of hitting. Now that he is in the 2010 draft the Nationals will pick the 2 best prospects ever in back to back drafts.

Idea for comment: Obtaining another front line right handed SP
kev211 replied to chisoxfan09's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (chisoxfan09 @ Jun 17, 2009 -> 12:07 AM) I have not seen either thrown out here as acquisition ideas. Both carry some form of risk but high reward. Let´s look at some facts: 1. Rich Harden when he is on is one of the best strikeout pitchers in all of baseball and normally is good for 6-7 innings. Very fragile as the 3-4 trips to the DL in the past 2 years with the Cubs will show.Do we make a play for him before the trading deadline? We have a trading chip or two now including an offensive need the Cubs want (Dye) or maybe omething centered around releif pitching (Dotel)) and a AA player. Either way if KW were to g after Harden do you wait until he is a FA at the end of the year and offer an incentive based contract based on health and performance? There is not much on Harden but what little there is does not conclusively indicate he wants to return to the Cubs 100% nor have they publicly commited to discussing an extension. I wonder if they are content to let him walk and pick up the draft picks as either a type A or B? Harden has obvious AL experience. 2. randon Webb is hurt with shoulder issues and no short term return date has been published that I could find. He as opposed to Harden has been an innings eater and already has a Cy Young award. When on his sinker would be lights out at the Cell. I have seen a couple of other forums posts that he may be expendable later this year if the DBacks have a fire sale which looks likely if they continue to slide. He has a team option for 2010 but if KW were to explore this route he should wait until right before the trade deadline (Depends whtere we are and whether we are buyers or sellers). DBacks pulled a 3 year extension so there might be real damage to his shoulder. Are either worth the risk of exploring a trade/extension? Thoughts? You mean 5-6 innings for harden? No to harden/Yes to webb -

QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 12, 2009 -> 02:25 PM) Sorry, Holy Messiah of Sox Fans. Don't try and tell me or anyone what kind of fans we are. I probably went to my first Sox game before you were born. The only way we gain any ground on 1st place is if the Tigers lose now, not the Twins. Hence, I will pull for the Cubs vs. Detroit, but will be neutral vs. Twins. Hope we are watching how to hit Wells. Other way and up the middle and be patient. I didn't tell anyone what kind of fan they were. They told me by saying they wanted the twins to win. I really don't understand the age part though, but if it makes you feel special cause your older then me then so be it. I guess your age tells you that come September the sox wont be in a close race with the twins though.

What kind of CSN poll question is that? Would you like to see US Cellular Field get a retractable roof?

What's with Bacon as Beckham's nickname? I wasen't around the boards when he came up so I have no idea why we are calling him this.

I'm sorry but anyone who is not 100% rooting for the cubs today or when they play the tigers really needs to stop hating the cubs more then liking the white sox.

6/6 Thread - Sox vs. Indians - 3:05pm CDT on Fox

I watched it over and over again on my DVR the last pitch was nasty, and it was way closer then FOX made it seem. -

He really isn't an ace anymore. Especially in the AL.

QUOTE (Cochise @ Jun 1, 2009 -> 03:16 PM) So the Good Guys are home for the next 12 games, 5 of which are against the Tigers. How many do you all think we'll win? In what place will we be on June 12? I think we'll go 7-5 and I'd be satisfied with that. Oakland: 3-1 Cleveland: 2-1 Detroit: 2-3 Detroit plays Boston and the Angels between now and coming to the Cell for 5. Hopefully they'll beat up on the Kittens. On June 12, I'd like to see the Sox still in second and nipping at Detroit's heels, maybe like 1.5 games out or better. Thoughts? Honestly I'd be dissappointed with that homestand. Change it to 3-2 vs the tiggers and an 8-4 homestand and I'm happy.
