Late Night with Jimmy Fallon
Last night fallon had the guys from diggnation on. And they are now attempting to make a random audience member last night the most followed guy on twitter which is currently Barack Obama. I think fallon taping into the internet is a great idea. Tons of people there.

MLB the Show '09 PS3
QUOTE (Balance @ Mar 10, 2009 -> 01:04 PM) So, here's a slight change of subject. I've recently picked up a copy of The Show '09, and, well, I'm really bad at it. I've set the game to "Rookie" difficulty, and I still can't hit my way out of a paper bag. The game manual tells you what the controls are, but it doesn't really tell me how to bat. For example, is there a "batting cursor" that I just can't see? Am I supposed to do anything other than time my swing right? It's kind of frustrating. Defense is easier and more intuitive, at least. I guess at first, I'll just try to put as many features of the game on automatic (baserunning, etc.) and then try to figure it out. I'll be the first to admit that I'm not a video game champion; I just like to play when I can. Anyone else have similar problems/difficulties? You need to put the left analog stick in the general area the pitch comes and time it correctly. Guessing helps a lot you can usually crush a pitch when you know what it is and where it is going.

QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Mar 6, 2009 -> 12:38 PM) Big 10 is going to be an absolute battle, which is always fun to watch. Damn Indiana State can really shoot. And yet you ripped on Ilstu each time they lossed to them. Hard to win when indiana state makes 8 consecutive three pointers on 8 possessions at the end of the game.

MLB the Show '09 PS3
QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Mar 5, 2009 -> 04:42 PM) I rather deal with fun pitching than hitting. All baseball games before last year made pitching a breeze. I love the pitching for MLB2k9. And they lessoned the effect of a meatball, so it's not always a HR. With that said, if you got a PS3, I would love to face you in 2k8. in 2k8? Played 09 for the first time today, awesome game. Except Dye hit a ball that bounced off a players glove and over the wall, they didn't rule it a home run immediately I had to run the bases to score the run all while the outfielder was running into the wall hoping to get to the ball. Time to start my road to the show. Barack Obama is in the audio part of the game. So if you want your created player to be called Barack Obama by the announcers you can.

Longer school year?
QUOTE (knightni @ Feb 28, 2009 -> 05:59 PM) I remember exactly how it went. I did many of those things that you mentioned. Up at 6:30am, AP classes all day, 18 hour a week job after school, homework until 11pm. Music practices on the days that I wasn't at work. National Honor Society, Quizzing, Pep Band, Marching Band, Concert Band, Choir, Drama, Musicals, Band Camp in the summer, college prep crap, writing papers without computers, working in the school for the decoration committee. My point is, you're only adding around two hours of in-school time to the schedule. Those two hours can be learning/practicing/studying/writing hours, hours that would have been used for the same thing at home without a teacher around to help. You may say they can put those 2 hours to good use in school time. But in reality all it would do was cut into the already sleep deprived students sleep schedules. If it is done without a teacher then why not keep it outside of school so students can do it when they have time for it.

Longer school year?
QUOTE (knightni @ Feb 28, 2009 -> 05:23 PM) Mine was 7:45 to 2:20, but if the day is longer, there's less of a chance for kids to get in trouble after school and more of a chance for teachers to actually teach. Clubs/Activites/Sports keep them out of trouble, and with college admissions now if you plan to go they're are a must as you need them on your application to compete with other applicants. With those all those after school activities some kids wont finish until 8pm and with dinner, then homework some wont end up sleeping until 1 or 2 in the morning if not later. Making it almost impossibly to get up at 6-7.

Longer school year?
QUOTE (knightni @ Feb 28, 2009 -> 05:03 PM) It would be longer classes, and a longer day. It's like that in college. Mon-W-Fr can be English for 1 1/2 hr, Science for 2 hours, History for 1 1/2 hr, Math for 1 1/2 hours, 1 hr gym, two 15 minute breaks, 1 30 minute lunch. Tu-Th can be electives. Not true college I go from 9-4 on Monday but I usually get out around 3, and have a 1.5 hour break from 12:30-2, Tuesday/Thurdays I go from 12:35-1:50 and 3:35-4:50, and on Wednesday and Friday I go from 9-11 So basically Monday- 7 Hours Tuesday/Thursday- 2.5 hours Wednesday/Friday-2 hours I spend way less time in class in college then I did in high school

Longer school year?
QUOTE (knightni @ Feb 28, 2009 -> 03:25 PM) How about a longer school day in high school? 7am to 3:30pm. Just like a real job. When I was in High school the end of the day I just stopped caring, adding 2 hours to that day would've really made me not care at the end. Don't say well thats how life is in the real world because you don't get paid to attend high school.
