What B.S. Why was the game called? They easily could have gotten this one in. Was getting updates from a friend at the game and people were wondering why they weren't playing. He said they easily could have started at 7:30. -
Sorry to change the subject but what if people gloated over the death of Bin Laden? Would the mods have to curb those types of responses as well?

QUOTE(Texsox @ May 15, 2007 -> 12:32 PM) Have you peeked at the bottom of our order? Don't you mean the heart of our order?

QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 15, 2007 -> 12:28 PM) The one thing you can look at is the one guaranteed automatic out you have when pitching to an NL lineup, a luxury you don't get in the AL. Or the 6 automatic outs you have when facing the Sox. Oh man that was low.
-
QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 15, 2007 -> 12:15 PM) That whole DH thing tends to skew offensive production. It's just easier to face 8 hitters in the NL than it is to face 9 in the AL. Ask Ted Lilly about that one. Is there a way to compare both leagues' 1-8 hitters to make a more accurate comparison? If so, I would be surprised to see a big disparity in offensive numbers.
-
QUOTE(Melissa1334 @ May 15, 2007 -> 12:08 PM) ^^^^^^^ Other than maybe 3 teams the offenses in the 2 leagues are about the same. I think people are overrating the AL offensive prowess. People make it seem like the NL offenses are AA quality when compared to the AL.

The weather doesn't look good for this evening. We may not get this one in. -
QUOTE(vandy125 @ May 15, 2007 -> 09:35 AM) I did not match up who was going against who in the series, but if you factor in AL vs NL hitting as well as the bullpens (Sox winner!), I would think that the pitching is better for the Sox. Did you forget that the Cubs will be facing the worst hitting team in baseball?

QUOTE(Maverick0984 @ May 15, 2007 -> 04:49 AM) Soriano over Pods obviously... Pie over Erstad maybe...Pie still might just be a fluke. the rest? no way. you can't judge current struggles with substituting a player entirely...if you were GM we'd have a new team every 2 weeks. EDIT: Zambrano over Count possibly, just for the sake of age The rest no way??? Anyone who'd take Paulie over D Lee is on crack or needs to put the kool aid down.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ May 14, 2007 -> 09:44 PM) On morality, I'd take GWB any day. On fiscal policy, ditto. On the military policy, again, ditto. On immagration? I am honestly speechless.

Nice to see the Tigers get spanked.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ May 14, 2007 -> 03:33 PM) All hyperbole aside, I'm glad you're able to do that. In Dallas, there's very little I can do in the way of public transportation (that's environmentally friendly). I'd rather take trains, etc. to save myself the headache of driving, but that's not an option. I realize not every area has the same solution. However, I have friends who are in the exact same situation as me and do absolutely nothing to change things. They'll continue to complain about gas prices and drive their SUVs. They have no kids and live in the heart of the city. There are alternatives such as I-Go/Zipcar, the CTA, Metra, and there are numerous bike lanes within the city. I don't want to hear them complaining when they do nothing about it.

My protest began 2 years ago when I sold my car, bought a bicycle, and moved 1 block away from the Blue Line. Maybe I should have just bought a Hummer and put a "Support the Troops" magnet on it instead.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 14, 2007 -> 03:11 PM) It'll be really difficult for the democrats to not take the highest office in the land come November of 2008, regardless of who their candidate is. Bush has simply done too much for any republican to overcome. That's exactly how a lot of people felt in 2004 and we saw what happened.

QUOTE(jackie hayes @ May 14, 2007 -> 02:31 PM) I imagine it might help him, I just don't see it helping the team much. I'd always rather have those obp guys at the top. But if he keeps producing, I wouldn't mind if the Sox let it ride. Who exactly would that be this season?
-
On a serious note, I would definitely prefer solid pitching. We know how that worked out 2 seasons ago. And the old saying goes, pitching and defense wins championships. Our defense isn't as bad as I thought it would be and our pitching is much better than I would have expected...even with our occasional shaky bullpen performance. Although I am one of the pessimists on this site I honestly think the hitting will bounce back and we will go on an absolute tear. I have a funny feeling we will be playing in October.

QUOTE(Damen @ May 14, 2007 -> 01:44 PM) I find some of the commetns here hilarious. You've bought into these absurd caricatures of these people absent any real evidence. What proof is there, exactly, of this ruthless Clinton smear machine? How, exactly, did Obama become "deceitful"? How has he pandered? I'd have to agree with you on this one.

BUMPED::::::Toby Hall Possibly out for the season
BigSqwert replied to Steve9347's topic in Pale Hose Talk
You know things aren't going well when Toby Hall is the savior for your offense. *sigh* -
I prefer poor hitting and poor pitching.
-
Why did he put him in the #2 hole if he doesn't think that's the right place for him?

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 14, 2007 -> 09:29 AM) The fact that people think Obama can defeat Hilary is pretty funny to me. Not to say I am a Hilary fan either, but Obama can't beat her, poll numbers be damned (because we know how much those matter). I'm not sure how you can say that this early in the race. We already know he can keep up with her financially. Once the Gravels and Kucinichs of the world begin dropping out I think things will get tighter in the polls.

Come on now. Lets not over-react. Sometime you just have to tip your cap. The Royals are a much improved team. You can't look at their atrocious record.
