QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 10, 2011 -> 01:42 PM) I've honestly never even heard this argument before. It's quite wild to me. I've been reading about animal rights issues quite religiously for 5 years now so it's not new to me. I can see how it could be for someone though.

BTW, I'm stunned that this thread is still in Pale Hose Talk.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Feb 10, 2011 -> 01:35 PM) I have to imagine that other species' numbers would grow to enormous proportions and crowd into each other/cause starvation for them/push into human populations. Seeing that most animals that are consumed are cows, pigs and chickens, they would just stop breading them as they currently do. It's not like we find those animals out in the wild.
-
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 10, 2011 -> 01:32 PM) That's pretty crazy. I've never hunted in my life and never intend to but there's certainly a difference between being tortured and just dying quickly. Huge difference. There are a lot of people, including myself, that disagree.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Feb 10, 2011 -> 01:29 PM) I understand the desire for some people to go vegan, and I'm sure it can be great for your health. But, don't you think it would cause enormous problems throughout the world if nobody ate meat anymore? For instance?
-
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Feb 10, 2011 -> 01:26 PM) You think everyone on Earth should go vegan? I'd personally love that but admit it's highly unlikely (BTW, it's really not that hard to do. I was a meat eater most of my life). A great start would be to substantially reduce animal products from your diet. It's better for your health and the environment.
-
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Feb 10, 2011 -> 01:24 PM) And your suggestion? You already know it and probably don't want to hear it.
-
QUOTE (Tex @ Feb 10, 2011 -> 01:23 PM) I assume you mean there is not enough land mass to sustain that many head of cattle, roaming free? Yes. It is literally impossible to get rid of factory farms and switch to all free range meat if people are going to consume the same amount of animal products.
-
QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Feb 10, 2011 -> 01:15 PM) There are plenty of places to buy meat products from that the animal was killed humanely and never suffered. You honestly think there are enough places like that to sustain the 6 billion people on Earth? It's not remotely possible to feed people meat and dairy from farms like the one you described. I'd guess those specific animal products account for less than 1% of all animal products produced for consumption.

QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Feb 10, 2011 -> 01:05 PM) I assume you are being sarcastic. Not at all.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 10, 2011 -> 01:02 PM) Rehabilitated to never be caught doing a crime again that takes away his paper. Anyone that can torture dogs like that has something inside of them that will never be fixed no matter how much time he spends in jail. I am very confident that the guy really doesnt feel bad for the dogs, but feels really bad that he committed a crime and was caught. You seem to be implying that he may even continue to do these things but be more careful about it so that he's not caught again.
-
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 10, 2011 -> 12:54 PM) Is he being forced to do that charity work or is he doing it out of remorse? You and I will likely never know the answer to that question. All we do know is that he has been rehabilitated after serving his sentence.

QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Feb 10, 2011 -> 12:47 PM) Not surprising. ESPN's party line is that Vick is a great person now cuz he does what his publicist says. Same policy they have for Ray Lewis. "He's redeemed! Don't ask questions!" He's no longer fighting dogs. And isn't he doing a lot of animal related charity work now? When can he be forgiven?
-
QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Feb 10, 2011 -> 12:34 PM) And now it's a link on the front page of espn with the title ChiSox' Buehrle hoped for Vick injury Tons of comments on that article and the Yahoo Sports one. Makes this thread look tame in comparison.

LOL. From Dave Chappelle's twitter feed:

QUOTE (PeavyTime @ Feb 10, 2011 -> 12:09 PM) Hahaha this is a landslide So every time you vote for someone it's for the person that is polling #1?
-
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 10, 2011 -> 11:56 AM) I'd like to hunt a human.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Feb 10, 2011 -> 11:56 AM) I wear pajama pants sometimes when I'm shopping. I've never gone out in full lounging attire, though. Don Draper would spit on you.

It wouldn't hurt to get your CFE if you want to get into forensic accounting. I'm currently studying for the exam.

QUOTE (PeavyTime @ Feb 9, 2011 -> 03:05 PM) Everyone should vote for Rahm so that we don't have to waste time and money on another round. Excellent reasoning to vote for a candidate. Also, here's a recap of yesterday's debate which featured all 6 of the candidates.

Eminem, Foo Fighters and Muse are supposed headliners for Lollapalooza.

I would recommend pulling up google maps on your smart phone.

Spot on Soxbadger. And this argument is the perfect example of speciesism.

Well I do have to say that this is done on both sides of the aisle. However, the Right gets rightfully bashed on it because they are the ones with the moral high ground with their invasive social views.

I apologize to those I may have offended with my last avatar.
