Teahan rehab could be great for the sox
BigSqwert replied to Bubba Philips's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 13, 2010 -> 01:14 PM) In a sick sort of way, atleast the Sox know what they did wrong if they lose this division by 1-2 games. There won't be a myriad of reasons as there were in 2006 - it will be because Mark Kotsay was the DH for the White Sox and Jim Thome was playing for the Twins. Just don't tell that to Rongey. -
Morrissey has an attendance related article in today's Sun Times.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 13, 2010 -> 12:38 PM) Because other than the DH deabcle, this is a darn good baseball team. It's pretty good but not great IMO. Just look at our division or league record this year. -

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Aug 13, 2010 -> 12:26 PM) I think he will DH and play the field. There's really no excuse not to have him in there against RH's. Against righties we'll see both Teahen and Kotsay in there more often than not. A lineup with Kotsay and Teahen in it? Ugh. How the hell are we a contender this year. -
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 13, 2010 -> 11:09 AM) It's not his fault Sean Tracey can't hit a six-foot target. How many times do we have to see another team push us around? We come off as a bunch of pansies.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 13, 2010 -> 10:56 AM) The only HBP in the game were Quentin and Beckham. Ozzie of course made a deal of having another "I'm gonna throw at everyone!" press statement before not doing so. Ozzie is all bark and no bite.

I didn't catch last night's game, thankfully. Did any of our pitchers throw at them or did we play with our tail between our legs again ala Jamie Burke style?

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 13, 2010 -> 10:39 AM) I don't get where this whole recent "can't beat the Twins" mentality comes from. Yeah, when they played in the Metrodome, it seemed like something bad would happen, but 2006 was the only season where the Sox got beat by them for the division in the past five years. In 2007 & 2009, the Sox had bad teams that just weren't good enough for a division crown, it had nothing to do with the Twins. In 2008, obviously, they fought to the death and the Sox came out on top. I guess 2003 & 2004 may have an effect on the thinking but those years are long gone. It doesn't help the team that our skipper has a hard on for the Twins. I'm getting a little tired of him praising them. Could you imagine how people would treat Lovie if he kept saying how awesome the Packers are?

Not getting a DH in 2010.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 12, 2010 -> 11:30 PM) KW is not as all optimistic that he'll be able to get that bat. Apparently problems that were evident in spring training, don't always work themselves out. "I'm just assuming everyone is going to get claimed," Williams said. "That's how I go about it." And having the ultimate confidence in the White Sox actually becomes a bit of a moot point. "Whether I do or don't, it doesn't matter," Williams said. "This is what we got." http://scottmerkin.mlblogs.com/archives/20...august_add.html Epic fail by Kenny this year.

QUOTE (Kid Gleason @ Aug 12, 2010 -> 06:24 PM) Just be forwarned, all of the animal killings in it are real. None of the stuff involving animals is FX. Thanks for the heads up.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 12, 2010 -> 04:33 PM) That's like 48 HRs in his last 142 games or so (going back to last year). When is his random test?
-
Yikes. This team is bad.
-
QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 12, 2010 -> 04:24 PM) And every team does this. Every manager and GM that has a kid that plays baseball gets drafted as a favor from the team his (or even her) father works for. MLB needs to be audited. I can do it for a small fee.

QUOTE (hammerhead johnson @ Aug 12, 2010 -> 04:16 PM) Are you not liking these draft picks: Kenny Williams Jr. Tyler Williams Ozney Guillen Harold Baines Jr. LOL at naming your kid Tyler. This guy needs to watch some George Carlin DVDs or something.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 12, 2010 -> 03:51 PM) It's really time to end the stupid Castro is Garcia's personal catcher thing. Not having him face Liriano, who is deadly on lefties, is just bad strategy. Where the hell is the media on this? Why won't anyone ask Ozzie about this in his interviews? It's hurting the team. You telling me AJ can;t catch Freddy? Something he's done a million times before we acquired Castro.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 12, 2010 -> 03:46 PM) I'm not saying I necessarily agree, just throwing out a reason why the odds might be what they are. They're not necessarily odds as in the gambling sense. Just the percentage of outcomes after 10K simulations.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 12, 2010 -> 03:36 PM) Hmm, I woulda thought we'd be significantly better against LHP. Kotsay brings those numbers down with his 0-fer.

QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Aug 12, 2010 -> 03:23 PM) It may be sick, but I thought it was awesome when the blood spatters onto the camera & stays there during that shot. Everything about that scene was awesome. Blood splattered camera included.

QUOTE (longshot7 @ Aug 12, 2010 -> 03:15 PM) hadn't seen this posted yet: Pierre lf Ramirez ss Rios cf Konerko 1b Quentin rf Pierzynski c Viciedo dh Vizquel 3b Beckham 2b Floyd p Jones still dealing with a back issue otherwise he'd be in RF.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 12, 2010 -> 03:04 PM) My guess is it has a lot to do with the home/away records. Yesterday's was at 47/53 in our favor and they had Perkins going. Figured Liriano would make it another close one.
-
I must say this is somewhat surprising. Figured it would be a little tighter.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 12, 2010 -> 09:41 AM) I though Children Of Men was great, gave it a full five stars on Netflix. Love that movie. That extended shot during the battle at the end was insane. I wonder how many takes they needed to get that shot off.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 12, 2010 -> 01:56 PM) We have 18 games total against Minnesota. The only way we get over .500 against them is to win the next 4. EDIT: Never mind
