  1. I could have told you all of this without the statistics... its been glaringly obvious since the second half of last year that this team just flat out isnt producing runs on a regular basis.
  2. i won't be chatting, but i will be watching with a bunch of friends and praying for a victory!
  3. that's pretty interesting... didnt Gatlin test positive for a performance enhancer a while back? EDIT: helps to read the story... yes,yes he did.

    Entourage = pure enjoyment.
  5. QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 7, 2007 -> 12:47 PM) Either will Pavano with his TJ surgery ha. well... that's Carl Pavano. This is Chris Carpenter... the reason I state this, is because no one cares about Carl Pavano... except the Yanks wallets.
  6. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ May 4, 2007 -> 10:42 PM) He'd look pretty good in CF on the South Side right about now, huh? yeah... i'll always love the kid, but now his price will be riDONKulous.
  7. well, time to open that DL spot up and use it on someone else in the old fantasy league. carpenter won't pitch again this season... write that down and save it.
  8. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 7, 2007 -> 12:55 AM) updated: .306 average 8 home runs 17 RBI 2 for 2 stealing .398 OBP .671 SLG 1.069 OPS But the Cubs were smart to give him to the Reds for 50 k, after all they have the Murton/Floyd platoon in RF. This is why they never win, not the goat.... I don't care if you have no plans for a guy, you don't do favors for teams in your own division. Cubs management continues to make me smile... (btw, many have been following Hamilton since he was drafted and all knew he still had some talent...)
  9. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ May 5, 2007 -> 11:50 PM) Because Liriano and Felix are injured by what makes them amazing. The greatest pitchers, IMO, the greatest sustainable pitchers will always be guys with filthy changeups and damn good fastballs with a few other plus pitches as well. Think Pedro, or Maddux. Yeah, Pedro's never injured
  10. there is no doubt in my mind that Barry is still using HGH.
  11. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ May 6, 2007 -> 02:27 PM) I think the Rocket will get lit up in the AL at this point. My thoughts seem to mirror yours. My pops and I were on the way back from a road trip when this was announced last night, and i told him Clemens will be lucky to have an ERA under 4.50 in the AL East after feasting on the NL Central the last few years. I hope he gets destroyed.
  12. Its his first outting... Hughes didnt fair much better then came back and had a no-hitter until he got injured. Lincecum is going to destroy the NL for the rest of the season. Not many guys have to make their Major League Debut on Sunday night baseball, lol.
  13. I don't see how Imus doesn't win that lawsuit... that story pretty much sums it up.
  14. QUOTE(RME JICO @ May 7, 2007 -> 08:27 AM) I remember seeing a story about a lady who had a huge swollen sac on her ear. She went to the doctor's and when they cut into it, about 100 baby spiders crawled out. The doctor suspected that a small spider entered her ear thru her abnormally large earring hole and had babies in the ear, then died. The sac had grown to the size of a gumball. Dude, that was some story in the "Scary Stories" series... it wasn't true. I loved these when I was a kid... I can't seem to find an image for the first book, which I believe it was in...
  15. Let me just say this... Thome could feel 100% and then re-aggravate this injury. Especially with the ferocity that he swings the bat. I don't expect this to be his final DL stay of the year... but if he can manage to stay healthy and we can get any semblance of the Podsednik back that started the season, we can win the Central with this pitching staff that I don't see tailing off.
  16. QUOTE(knightni @ May 6, 2007 -> 09:15 PM) Crede and Contreras for Noah Lowry, Pedro Feliz, Jonathan Sanchez and Fred Lewis...? given the giants love of the aged (hello Contreras) they just might do that...
  17. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ May 4, 2007 -> 08:58 AM) Dude I never bust balls on that...didn't mean to call you out, but the thread is 2 below this one. heh. whoops
  18. that pearson character will have a nice time rotting in hell
  19. Oh, I'm sorry, why don't you point me to the other thread that has Ross Gload in the title? Oh wait, I guess I'm supposed to sift through 250 posts in some outfield thread to find something on Gload, when the search function is disabled. Get a life!
  20. After another solid game yesterday, Gload is hitting .307, with 2 homers, 15 rbi, with an .857 OPS. I always like Gload, and I shall say... good for him.
  21. Damn, that's about 5 minutes from my house. Wish I had "soxdar" lol.

  23. QUOTE(Texsox @ May 3, 2007 -> 01:36 PM) New fan? Yeah, he hasnt been around since... well, ever.
  24. QUOTE(WHITESOXRANDY @ May 3, 2007 -> 01:18 PM) This team was built with a whole bunch of LOW OBP guys. That's what Ozzie likes. Guess what, that's why no one's on base when someone hits a home run. Thome is the only guy that's really a good OBP guy. If we had 4 or 5 guys with lifetime OBP near .400 - regardless of what they hit, there would be more runs scored. Dye and Konerko walk some and that helps. But, A.J., Crede, Uribe, CF, LF - low low OBP. I dont think Ozzie "likes" low OBP guys... and 4 or 5 guys with an OBP near .400... has there ever been such a lineup? Come on... 5 guys with an OBP near .400 would be like the best lineup ever, lets stay realistic here. I mean, come on... only 21 guys had an OBP of even .390 last year. Expecting to have four of them in your lineup??? KWAZY!
  25. QUOTE(joeynach @ May 3, 2007 -> 01:14 PM) Exactly the point is you cant afford to sit around and wait for things to get better. You cant sit here and wait for Thome and Pods to come back and give them a couple weeks to get back in a rhythm and just hope everything will be ok. Heck by the time that happens, if it happens, this team might be 12 games out. If you want survive at least for this year you need to do something now. The Mack/Ozuna/Cintron/Terrero circus isn't an answer its not going to prevent us from dipping below .500. The only thing you can do is add some life to the lineup, new talented excited life. Bring up Fields and Owens, and along with Sweeney get these guys moving. Then get Pods and Thome back and hit the ground running in a lineup that is already kicking. If you just try and survive and wait until Pods and Thome get back most likely it will just be too late, it always works out that way. Problem is, everytime we depend on a young hitter, at least lately, they don't do anything (see Sweeney's 0-fer since being called up, or Anderson last year)... some teams have the studs in AAA, others don't. We seem to be the latter. The last thing this team needs is another guy who'll hit .220-.240 and swing for the fences all day (ala Josh Fields)... if anything, call up Owens, like you said, and let him run wild.
