QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jun 26, 2013 -> 09:22 AM) Everytime I see that .gif, I lose my s***. It's just too funny. I think Danks is giving up a few bombs. He was obviously not ready to come back or is a shell of his former self. I'm going to go with the first rather than the latter. His peripherals are all money. 1.17 WHIP, 25 ks against 4 walks. Instead of missing the plate and walking guys with predictable lack of command, he's serving up meatballs. I actually think Danks has pitched quite well given the circumstances.

The White Sox pulled out a laugher last night. The perfectly previewed "Game of LOLs" went off without a hitch - as Beckham, Gillaspie, Reed and Co. combined for this dazzler. Hahaha. HOW ABOUT THAT? #TWTL #2013WHITESOX Only the awfulness of the Amazin's could keep the White Sox from throwing this one away. Now the huge test as Shaun Marcum brings his junk ball to the South Side. He sports a wicked 0-9 record. Meanwhile, the rebuilt John Danks will try to allow fewer than 4 homers tonight. White Sox baseball! Where "F*CK" and "ME" meet!

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 26, 2013 -> 12:16 AM) Man. I love sports but I don't even know how to react to your posts. I hope you are kidding with some of them and this is an Internet joke/troll type situation. Because your rage is scary. Personally I think it's a lack of class to criticize the dead so brutally, even on the anonymous internet. I'm glad he's dead, and I wish he'd died much earlier. I like his kid (Rocky) though! Peter Wirtz is a turd. -

QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 25, 2013 -> 04:48 PM) Anyone going to the parade? Thinking about going but not sure how to go about it, logistically speaking Meh. I'm an adult. The view will be better on the highlights from tv. -
You didn't think it was possible, but a team that somehow has a worse record than the White Sox is in town tonight. The Amazin's trot out their hotshot young little stud muffin Zack Wheeler for his second-ever start. Chances are he will get at least 10 k's, because the Sox haven't seen him before, they are absolutely awful, AND he's kind of a big deal. We have our own little stud muffin in one Chris Sale - practically the only reason to watch the team - and he's bringing that funky motion to the Southside tonight. We'll see how many unearned runs cross the plate and how poor Chris can take the loss yet again despite a monster start! oh BOY! Can't wait for 7:10pm! /killme Go Sox? NOPE! Go draft pick! #whocaresabouttheresult #thisisyourgamethread #lotsofstrikeoutstonight #TWTL

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 25, 2013 -> 01:30 PM) I googled "Kerry Wood HR 2003" and shockingly the whole game is up on YT. The Wood at-bat starts at 34:30. That s*** was just nuts. Better link.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 25, 2013 -> 01:40 PM) I work in Elk Grove and as I drove home at the Higgins/Elmhurst intersection, there is a weird "Cash 4 gold" smoke shop type place at the corner. In the parking lot, they have a drive thru coffee stand named Twin Peaks Coffee. Lo and behold, as I drive by I notice that the female server is wearing nothing but a bikini. Heavenly Bodies is across the street, so they may be related, but it's the most random thing in the middle of a heavily industrial area. did u masturb8

QUOTE (MEANS @ Jun 25, 2013 -> 12:08 PM) I got to design the locker room t-shirt that they received last night, first time my favorite team won when I had the locker room design. What a great feeling! That's awesome. -

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 25, 2013 -> 11:40 AM) s***, I wouldn't mind. Relievers find it and lose it all the time. Brad Lidge's ERAs progressively went from 5.28 to 3.36 to 1.95 to 7.21 to 2.96 to 1.40 to 9.64. Marmol has trouble throwing strikes, but the stuff is still there. The remainder of the $9.8 million he's owed this year make a trade or claim pointless. Once he's released if you can sign him up and let him work out the kinks in a lost year with Coop, I guess he might maybe be worth a look at. However, I'm sure a lot of teams would take a chance on that heat at a much, much smaller salary.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 25, 2013 -> 11:28 AM) Why is the media not reporting the other case Hernandez currently has going on in which he allegedly shot his friend in the face with a gun he was not supposed to have. *shot in arm, bullet traveled up arm.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 25, 2013 -> 11:19 AM) I would love to see a video of inside a boston sports bar when the final 3 goals were scored. I bet there was insanity followed by shock and depression There's some pretty good captures of the crowd last night at this link http://blogs.thescore.com/nhl/2013/06/25/h...edition-game-6/ -
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 25, 2013 -> 11:31 AM) Okay but those already are household ratings. The 28% peak means 28% were tuned in. So where does 71% come in? My complete misunderstanding of numbers, apparently. I'm a marketer, not a scientist!

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 25, 2013 -> 10:51 AM) Someone posted this at WSI, I found it interesting: Puig, June 3-20, 2013: 16 G, 62 AB, 6 HR, 12 RBI, 1 BB, 14 K, .452/.477/.790, 1.267 OPS Viciedo, May 14-30, 2012: 16 G, 63 AB, 8 HR, 23 RBI, 1 BB, 4 K, .444/.453/.857, 1.310 OPS Awesome.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 25, 2013 -> 11:14 AM) Not sure where you git your numbers, but sportsmedia watch had game 5 at a 22.1 rating locally. Fake edit: Do you mean game 4? Tvtbythenumbers had that at 22. Sox World Series presumably kill all these numbers, but I guess wait for the clincher info to come out. 22.1, peak of 28.7 x 35000 = 1,004,500

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 25, 2013 -> 10:57 AM) 42% of Chicago Households for game 4 2005. 32% for the Hawks in 2010. Nationally the World Series had double the viewership. I want to see 2013 numbers. This year seemed so much bigger - EVERYONE was talking Hawks. In 2010 people were like "oh that's cool the Hawk won" while this year they were "OMG THAT GAME WAS/THIS GAME IS AWESOME". Way more were watching this year. Wait for the numbers. For Game 5 (6-5 OT win) 1,004,580 of 1,406,400 Chicagoland homes that had their tvs on tuned into the game at one point or another (71%).

QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jun 25, 2013 -> 10:34 AM) It absolutely does matter when. Casey Blake does not bring you back Carlos Santana in December, even if you are paying his salary. He does in July because the Dodgers have a hole and see Casey Blake as a piece to solidify their lineup for a playoff run. There is a lot more pressure for a GM to make moves in season to respond to moves that their division rivals make, mostly because of the cutoff of the trade deadline (unless you take your chances with players making it through waivers). In the offseason they have a long time to let things play out before there is a real need to make a move. Most of the Sox deadline deals that you mention have been little more than salary dumps, which you would see if the Sox were to move Dunn. So to cite them is a red herring. Not sure the Sox have made many valuable players for prospect trades since the white flag deal, the team has generally operated in the opposite mode. Sergio Santos for Nester Molina was an offseason deal that really brought back pennies on the dollar. According to fangraphs the Sox have the best offensive trade chip in Rios, the ninth best offensive player and second best shortstop in Alexi, the number three starter and number two reliever. That is a lot of value to work with, especially for teams that feel they are a player away from having a world series caliber teams. EDIT: In addition to pressure to make the playoffs, there are usually more active buyers in the summer to play against each other. For instance, the Padres, Giants and Dodgers all want a SP and dont want the other teams to get him so they are willing to pay more to keep your guy away from them. Holy crap, Wite got schooled. Don't see that too often. -
QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 25, 2013 -> 10:56 AM) As someone that doesn't really care about hockey, the one thing that last night confirmed to me is that if the Cubs ever win the World Series, I have to leave this state. If the Cubs ever win the World Series, the city will burn.

Say what you will about bandwagon, fair-weather fans all you want. Every sport has them. At max, the Blackhawks draw interest from 100% of the sports watching city while the Sox at best get 40%. It's not even close. There are also way fewer bandwagoners now than there were in 2010. 2010 bred bandwagoners and many of them turned into real Blackhawks fans. Anyway, this isn't the right sub forum for this.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 25, 2013 -> 10:54 AM) The number of people that go celebrate after a championship and/or attend a parade is not a true reflection of how many fans a team has, in my opinion. There are people at my work planning on going to the parade who probably were watching an episode or Real Housewives last night instead of the game. The statement I was replying to was talking about the size of the parades.

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jun 25, 2013 -> 10:16 AM) When they were bad (2004-2006, the ABC line) they had literally nobody at the games. Wow, you REALLY shortened that "when they were bad" period.
