  1. This was the walk off winner that forever endeared me to Gordon Beckham and solidified the jersey purchase decision.
  2. I remember fondly that summer of love that Gordon Beckham got called up. Once he started hitting, man did he hit. I was sure we had a future 3-hitter on our side. One expensive jersey purchase later, he just brings feelings of sadness. That said, he will forever have a great intro song.
  3. QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Jun 3, 2013 -> 11:47 AM) Right, and that was before Ozzie's ego grew to the point where it swallowed everything around him. Ozzie's 2 things he could do well that actually had to do with the game of baseball and not media relationships were manage a pitching staff & get the clubhouse to play for him. He lost the entire team & decided to make an enemy of one of (if not the) best pitching coaches in baseball. Ozzie went down the tank on his own, and JR very stupidly tried to save him when he was a lost cause. Who else can have his bastard little b**** son time after time go on social media & bury players, the organization, drafting philosophy of not taking your s***ty brother early enough, etc. without repercussions? Ozzie was a useful person who turned into a massive mistake, in large part due to the Reinsdorf loyalty leash. Anyone blaming KW for not making moves he couldn't get the power to make isn't lbeing fair. If Reinsdorf decides some idiot in the FO somewhere (who we maybe don't even know about) is too black & white at heart to lose his job then Rick Hahn, whether you like him or not, is also going to have to work around his presence. You mean fully rely on Don Cooper to manage the pitching staff. Ozzie delegated well in the early seasons.
  4. I think I might go ahead and get drunk for Penguins/Bruins tonight as I expect a much closer outcome than Game 1.
  5. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Jun 3, 2013 -> 09:01 AM) Season is too damn long. Cut amount of games by 20%, and all salaries by same percentage. No reason to be playing baseball April 1st or to have playoffs around Halloween. I agree with this. There are only a handful of cities that have weather worth attending a game in April and October. Have the season start May 1st and have the playoffs end at the start of October. None of this March/April through November bulls***.
  6. When does DFA become a real option?
  7. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 3, 2013 -> 10:00 AM) Conor Gillaspie not a good player? Seems ok to me. Two things - 1. Ok does not mean good, 2. The original thread title was "Conor Gillaspie sucks", and it should still say that.
  8. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jun 3, 2013 -> 09:39 AM) Congrats, Steve, you're somehow managing to be more negative than everyone else. The moment Jake Peavy and Alex Rios are traded, I'll be happier. That will show me there is a plan. They should also DFA Adam Dunn to save me anger.
  9. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 3, 2013 -> 09:51 AM) It makes total sense. Look at the Sharks/Kings series. But the series has already started. It literally makes zero sense.
  10. I have a bit of a crush on Delle Donne.
  11. His OPS will be in the .600s shortly. Much like the bulk of our God awful roster.
  12. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 3, 2013 -> 12:29 AM) Who the hell is this? Raise your hand and identify yourself when attempting to call me out. I wondered the same thing - first thought was a previously banned poster given 5 posts and has a beef with you from two seasons ago.
  13. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 2, 2013 -> 12:30 PM) Already clarified what I meant. But you can hold on to that as long as you want. I won't even charge you. LOL no you didn't.

    2013 TV Thread

QUOTE (onedude @ Jun 2, 2013 -> 09:36 PM) I can't remember ever feeling depressed after an episode of TV until now I watch GoT on the tablet at the gym in the morning. It was quite the somber shower this am.
  15. That was pretty much as good as you can hope for last night. The key to this series will be taking one of the next two in LA, where the Kings are dynamite.
  16. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 2, 2013 -> 08:50 AM) http://www.nextmovie.com/blog/will-jaden-s...w-weird-quotes/ Will Smith getting the Tom Cruise treatment by some writers these days...we seem to love to knock celebrities off their mountaintops, only to have them redeem themselves again (see Robert Downey, Jr., or Ben Affleck). So not true. If celebrities fall on hard times or start making garbage movies, we pounce. That said, there's 20 celebrities we never jump on for every one that gets this type of negative attention for continually disappointment.
  17. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jun 2, 2013 -> 11:50 AM) You conveniently left out: Penguins O > Bruins O. And actually, with a healthy Crosby...Penguins O > Hawks O. But it doesn't matter. The Penguins are the more talented team. Period. Doesn't mean Boston won't beat the Penguins, but if the Hawks can advance, they'd beat Boston more times out of 100 than they would the Penguins out of a 100. If you're strictly looking from a Hawks perspective, you hope Boston pulls the upset. If you are looking from a Goliath vs Goliath with the potential to possibly one of the best Stanley Cup Final series in the past 20 years, you hope Penguins win the series. But, lowers the chance the Hawks win. I agree with this post.
  18. I posted this on Facebook prior to the series starting. "I think Hibbert and West will cause some interesting issues for the Heat. Wade is on one leg. If Paul George steps up, the Pacers have a chance."

    2013 TV Thread

QUOTE (Brian @ May 31, 2013 -> 04:48 PM) I was under the assumption they were just doing this season but with the way it ended, I wonder if they are doing S5. If they do, less Tobias, please. Well, the whole idea was that this season would catch people up for a movie. I'd prefer another 8.5 hours vs 1.5.
  20. QUOTE (Iwritecode @ May 31, 2013 -> 01:36 PM) The Cubs would be in last or second-to-last in any division in MLB. I can't imagine their placement in the standings would cloud anyone's judgement of how good/bad they are. I think you're missing the point - I'm not trying to say that the Cubs are good by saying they're better than the Sox. I'm trying to point out how God awful the White Sox are. The Cubs suck.
  21. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ May 31, 2013 -> 01:09 PM) Cubs have a +6 run differential, and the Sox are -29. I think the talent is close and probably can be argued either way.
  22. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ May 31, 2013 -> 10:09 AM) Yeah, cherry-picking seems to go only one way around here. Beckham had one good month after three bad years and is the savior, but Connor Gillaspie is bad because he has a .600 May OPS. WTF? I hope you aren't suggesting that I ever inferred that Gordon Beckham is the savior. I was the first to turn on that bust.
  23. Oh, and I was feeling a bit devilish and wanted to play the role of troll this morning with regards to Gillaspie. That said, the Cubs are on par with the White Sox in terms of Major League talent.
  24. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ May 31, 2013 -> 12:31 PM) This is the same poster who yesterday said the only reason the rest of us meatheads didn't realize the Cubs were way better than the Sox was because they are in a division with the Cardinals. This would imply that the Cubs have the played the Cardinals a lot this season. Upon five seconds of research, I determined the Cubs have played the Cardinals TWICE all year. You don't have to play the 1st place team to be buried by the first place team. The Cardinals are 35-18. The Pirates are 34-20. The Reds are 33-21. No team in the AL Central has 30 wins.
