  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 5, 2013 -> 02:29 PM) So with his suspension, and maybe pending suspension, what is his MLB legacy right now? Is he still a Hall of Famer? One of the greatest hitters of all-time? He goes down as a punch-line just like Barry. No one will ever consider anything he did worthy of discussion without first talking about PEDs and being too big a dumb oaf to stop.

Seriously, I see no reason why the GoT book talk can't go in another thread or in the book thread. These items are separate. If it needs spoilers, it doesn't belong in the thread regarding the TV version of GoT.
  3. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 5, 2013 -> 02:50 PM) I completely understand that stick to the face was horrible, but I really hated Carter's slashing keith's bare hand. Well, yeah, the slashing the bare hand is what caused the stick to the shoulder/inadvertently to the face. That being said, I would not disagree with a one-game suspension, but I'm hoping like hell it's just a hefty fine.
  4. QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Jun 5, 2013 -> 10:46 AM) lol Dunn is like an arctic flower, so stunning for a week or so when in full bloom, then comes the winter chill & all we see is darkness for another 11 months. Now if we could just breeze through the rest of his Sox career in a 30-second piece narrated by David Attenborough then all would be golden. Epic post.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 5, 2013 -> 12:02 PM) It's been ok, I wouldn't call it awesome. It's certainly not the best of the series. No one has claimed it is one of the best of the series.
  6. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 5, 2013 -> 11:47 AM) You're trying to tell me we should be suspicious of guys who go from averaging 89 MPH with their fastball at age 36 to 92 MPH on their fastball at age 38? Why? Are you going to try and tell me that Barry Bonds used steroids too? I just can't believe the media and fans allow it.
  7. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 5, 2013 -> 10:19 AM) How many of those names would be being busted based on double jeopardy? I see Colon and Cabrera on that list as guys who have already served a suspension. I think the fact that Bartolo Colon is in his third or fourth prime, probably all aided by roids, is one of the biggest laughers out there. Oh sure, guy was out of the game for a bit, but no big deal. He's awesome again naturally! He re-figured it out! What a gamer! The f***ing 40 year old has 42 strikeouts against 4 walks on the season with a 1.05 WHIP. This is a guy who couldn't get any one out from 2006 to 2007 and only started 25 games in 2008 and 2009. Then he magically misses the 2010 season and comes back with the Yankees. Since then, his age 39 and 40 seasons have been the best he's produced statistically since 2002 with the Indians/MONTREAL EXPOS. GMAB. This is so blatantly obvious I hope he's banned for life.
  8. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jun 5, 2013 -> 08:06 AM) In addition to being suspended, I hope Braun gets sued by the guy who's career he basically f***ed over to get out of getting caught a couple years ago Well, technically said guy didn't do his job properly.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 4, 2013 -> 10:47 PM) Seeing rumors on twitter that more major names are included NO WAY RUMORS ON TWITTER OMG

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 5, 2013 -> 11:25 AM) You think? I keep seeing all of the old clips during the commercials and think "man, that's when the show was great." I feel like this season has been a big retread on a lot of themes/plot lines we've already been through. This season has been awesome.
  11. QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Jun 5, 2013 -> 10:48 AM) Do you realize what you just said? Yes. That the White Sox bought low on a s***ty Matt Thornton.
  12. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 5, 2013 -> 09:45 AM) Funny that it made you shoot better, definitely makes me shoot much worse. Smaller ball goes into hoop easier than larger ball. See: Every bulls*** basketball game at a fair or Great America or what have you.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 5, 2013 -> 09:26 AM) I think you are missing something obvious when arguing with your wife. Even if you are 100% right, you are wrong. Ha.
  14. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 4, 2013 -> 06:14 PM) He is a righthander, so it isn't like anyone is clamoring for him to replace Thornton. He is considerably younger and cheaper, and throws very hard. If coop thought he could work with him and get a flaw fixed, I certainly wouldn't mind. Yeah, he's kinda the right-handed version of the Matt Thornton we originally acquired. That said, who cares - just a pen arm.
  15. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jun 5, 2013 -> 08:29 AM) My wife insists I am a male pig because I think women's athletes are far less entertaining (largely due to major physical difference between men and women). This morning, she put this on Facebook.... I wrote this back: She insists that's not a valid argument because it's not a "team sport". i say it is because it points out that men and women are PHYSICALLY different. Men have more testosterone which leads to things like larger muscles which can increase physical performance. Your wife is silly and delusional. The teams do assemble the best rosters they can regardless of gender. It just so happens there's no woman who could crack a roster.
  16. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jun 4, 2013 -> 11:32 PM) BTW, how bad has Kane been? f***ing invisible for a month. Yeah, pretty brutal. I'm worried we might be without Duncan for the next game.
  17. Between the extra goal mouth passes and Kane stick handling way too much with open ice between the circles, I'm ready to scream.
  18. I think it's time to seriously discuss getting Oduya off the ice. He's been a whole lot of bad. Between the turnovers and pinching at the wrong time, I want to kill him.
  19. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jun 4, 2013 -> 04:47 PM) Hmmm... I'm probably drinking the koolaid but it looks better. You are. It doesn't.
  20. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jun 4, 2013 -> 04:15 PM) That's always been YOUR strategy, though. 60% of the time, it works EVERY time.
  21. QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 4, 2013 -> 03:20 PM) Bears are working out Jamarcus Russell. Yup WE HAVE THE QB WHISPERER.
  22. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 4, 2013 -> 03:28 PM) Sox 177-188 (-11) Cubs 210-202 (+8) And win.
