2012-2013 Official NHL thread
That game last night was a blast - it was nice to see the Hawks finally get to Niemi. The first ten or so minutes of the game were nuts, and it was nice to see Crawford calm down after that and make some truly exceptoinal saves. I'm going to go ahead and say I'm a Crawford believer, after years of s***ting on him. Also, when Toews and Kaner are on the ice together, it's ridiculous. Toews never quits and Kane knows how to make himself open - and it worked beautifully on that 4th goal last night. 8-0-2 through 10 games, 8 of which have been on the road. This season, gentlemen, this season is one that's going to be cherished.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Feb 5, 2013 -> 10:20 AM) What's the timeline on the one in the City? BTW, I f***ing love when people use the word "reckon." It's looking mid to late next week for decision time. It's a very intriguing company.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 5, 2013 -> 08:26 AM) Bears spent the 5th most on their offense in the league. Sadly, Devin Hester's salary counts as "offense". I want that idiot gone so bad.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Feb 4, 2013 -> 12:38 PM) I think it is more about advancing his career than the money. I'm not sure, but I think Steve is around 30 and no kids? That's not the time to be afraid to step outside of his comfort zone... I turn 30 in 19 days and we haven't popped out a child yet. The other issue is that I've cast a wide net and another position I like that is about a 15 minute drive is in the early stages of interviewing.

Ease Rankings are calculated by comparing opponent production data with their season averages, and are not simply a straight team-by-team comparison. For this reason, a larger statistical number does not automatically equate with a larger Ease number. All values are assigned by way of z-scores Moral of the story? It sucks to play against the Bulls. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/schedule-anal...TGgohd9Gvm5bZ8u

QUOTE (iamshack @ Feb 4, 2013 -> 11:04 AM) This is where it is not always so easy to get those workouts in...a lot of people are faced with this sort of thing and it certainly does complicate things more. There is an XSport close to this proposed position, so I'm sure I'd figure it out. A comfort zone is certainly a place hard to leave, but it's hard to grow in a comfort zone.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 4, 2013 -> 10:50 AM) Once you get used to it, a mile walk isn't bad, even in the winter. Just layer up. I did it for a lot of years. I'm mostly concerned with ruining my morning workout schedule, as stated. Just being stupid - we'll see.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Feb 4, 2013 -> 08:54 AM) Say nothing beyond this. Stop. Do not pass go on this one. Don't get involved with people you work with or at the same company as...it's never a good idea. I disagree - some of the best marriages start as work relationships. This cuts off a huge segment of able-bodied females.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Feb 4, 2013 -> 10:22 AM) You're sure you couldn't grab the L once you get off the metra instead of a bus? Anytime but winter I could honestly walk it - it's a one mile walk north of Ogilvie. I'm mostly concerned with screwing up my admittedly awesome workout schedule in the morning and either having to switch to evenings or get up at 4:45 every day.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Feb 4, 2013 -> 10:09 AM) Take the train. You can't hold yourself back at your age because you're afraid to make a little commute into the City. Of course, this is coming from a psycho... It's reasons like these that I participate in such a well-structured, online community. I know I should stay career-oriented, I'm just being a b****. Add to that a couple other interviews coming up closer to home. We'll see what happens.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 4, 2013 -> 08:08 AM) This is totally, 100% a personal judgment call about how much the extra time on the commute is worth to you. Yeah - I'm struggling with the decision. Comfort zone, set workout schedule, flexibility vs career goals. The latter will likely win out, but we'll see.

He's been a huge waste of talent for quite some time, but it looks like Michael Beasley might actually work himself into an at least somewhat useful player under a new coach in Phoenix. Thoughts?
