Locking up the young pieces
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 03:44 PM) We talking man on man action? Because in that case I would DEFINITELY do Beckham. Wait, what?

1/3 of the way through the season
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 03:39 PM) And 88 strikeouts isn't. Yeah, but Adam Dunn has only grounded into one double play this season. ONE. Viciedo is already at 9, tied with Alexei Ramirez. Rios at 7, Slayer at 6, Paulie at 6. Dunn at 1. Strikeouts aren't as awful as you make them out to be, and when Dunn LEADS ALL OF BASEBALL IN WALKS, I'd say that tips the scales and makes up for the k's. Oh, he's also 2nd in HRs.

1/3 of the way through the season
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 03:33 PM) Guys, enough with the whose dick is bigger argument. None of us care about your fantasy team and whose right/wrong about this. It's official. Jason's dick is the biggest.

2011-2012 NBA Season Thread
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 03:40 PM) 6 months ago I would have agreed with you. I don't really see why it would change. LeBron is far and away the best player in the NBA. Just because he refused to chuck up a double-teamed jumper doesn't change this. In fact, it only further confirms it.

The Pet Thread
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 03:22 PM) And since this is the pet thread. I was at Lincoln Square Mai Fest Saturday, and one of my biggest pet peeves is bringing a dog to an outdoor festival that is cramped like that. There was this one guy who was pouring beer on the ground for his dog to drink, letting his dog eat garbage (he said it was okay because the dog was old) and just letting his dog get trampled on. I just dont understand it. Just like the people who bring their children there. Under what circumstances is this a good idea. I am not considered a responsible person, I take many risks, but you dont put your kids/pets in harms way. I don't think going to the Lincoln Square Mai Fest is a good idea with or without a dog.

2012 MLB draft talk
QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 01:22 PM) FWIW, I think he's wrong about that this time. It's a lock that the White Sox will take a college pitcher.

Locking up the young pieces
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 02:41 PM) In all fairness, I said if he's not dead, which currently I'm not sure if he's an animated corpse or not. Yeah, I guess, but then if we're still trying to figure out whether he's dead or not, it certainly doesn't make sense to even mention him in a thread about "locking up the young pieces", yes?

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 03:10 PM) some people think it's a viral Honda CRV ad It likely is, as those things don't happen in real life.

Jose Contreras has torn ligament & tendon
From mid 2005 to mid 2006, Jose Contreras was the best pitcher in all of baseball. That was a key period in the history of this franchise. I will always love him.

2012 Video Game Thread
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 03:01 PM) Except I don't spend my money like an idiot. I'd rather hate one brand and be open to all other kinds, than to be obsessed with one brand, and ignore all the other many options. You gotta have money to spend money! If those people like the products and can afford them, what's the big deal? Apple does not put out low-quality product.

The Pet Thread
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 03:03 PM) Cats have individual personalities, like people. Some are shy, some are friendly, much of it depends on the type of environment they were raised in, or whether they were ever in the wild. The cats actions may not make sense to you, but they could be perfectly logical. Cats are awesome. No two are alike.

The Pet Thread
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 02:49 PM) I'd never seriously disparage anyone for owning a cat...on the other hand, let me know when you start taking your cat hiking with you in the Redwoods, or along the beach on the ocean...or camping with you in the mountains... This would assume I'd want an animal with me in any of those situations.

The Pet Thread
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 02:42 PM) I have cats, they solve most of these problems. Dogs are just a lot of time and commitment, plus I could never crate anything. Careful, Badger. Here is where all the dog freaks will make fun of cats for no reason, even though my two cats are the coolest pets I've ever had.

It must be said - Hawk Harrelson has to go
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 02:25 PM) I heard that live and thought it was funny. The way he said ... the Mariners made me know he knew what semen meant in that connotation. So you mean "seamen", yes? Semen always means semen, after all.

It must be said - Hawk Harrelson has to go
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 2, 2012 -> 01:12 PM) Hawk is an employee of CSN/WGN, not of the White Sox, not of MLB. Selig cannot fire him. It would be like saying he can fire you from your job. If Selig was so pissed about this and had some authority, Hawk would at least get the weekend suspension BS. He and JR don't want him ripping umpires, and its not because Hawk is necessarily wrong. Well, you can make things up all you want, but Ken Harrelson is an employee of the Chicago White Sox.

The Pet Thread
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 02:18 PM) We do, like a half acre or something. And when we are at our lake house or cottage, she doesn't wear a leash or chain. I assume the "walk your dog 5 times a day" business is for apartment dwellers or something. Oh, ok, and with multiple pooches they can certainly wear each other out - no doubt about it. My parents have 4 awful dachshunds - horribly behaved - but they have a big backyard so the things are always worn out... Now if the wife and I could visit without the things jumping all over her and barking like psychos. Ugh, dachshunds.

2012 Films Thread
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 01:20 PM) Currently at 80% on RT. I'm going in with tempered expectations and hope that they're exceeded. I'm simply assuming it's going to be the best sci-fi movie I've seen in years and will possibly make my wife piss herself.

The Pet Thread
QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 02:10 PM) I assume obedience classes would help with her biting us/gnawing at us? She developed this the past few weeks. Loves biting at us or our clothing. Stern no's and a toy in her mouth don't always work. She'll even lunge at our faces - which is kind of funny, but ridiculous. I know it's all being playful (I think), but she will not close her mouth sometimes. Dogs need consistency and they need to be taught what is right and wrong. I'm sure you can Google "training my [iNSERT BREED]" and attempt it yourself.

The Pet Thread
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 02:05 PM) Not if you can do it yourself. Oh yeah, I agree with this - just so very few people take the time to train their dogs. I mean, your family takes their dogs for a walk 2-3 times per year, I can only imagine the work that went into training the poor things.

The Pet Thread
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 02:03 PM) Jesus, what kind of needy breeds have you owned? I think our dog gets walked maybe....2-3 times a year? And none of our dogs have been a "s***load of work" either. Very easy pets in our experiences. 2-3 walks a year? I hope your parents have a big back yard.

2011-2012 NBA Season Thread
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 11:40 AM) Officials rarely bail guys out at the end of games though. Around the basket at the end of games is a free for all. You basically have to deck someone to get a call. I mean, I agree he should be driving to at least get a better look. But a jump shot is probably the highest percentage shot he's going to get. And has this postseason finally shown that Lebron isn't the greatest of all time like he thinks he is? If i'm starting a team today I take Durant over Lebron. Yes, Lebron is a better defender and all around player. But Durant is becoming the Jordan/Kobe, unstoppable offensive force that you need to win championships. Lebron can average 40/10/10 but you know 90% of those stats come in quarters 1-3. When was the last time Lebron scored 16 straight points in the 4th quarter of a conference finals game? When was the last time he just took over and could not be stopped no matter what you threw at him? Let's wait until Durant actually wins a Championship, eh? Oh, and if I'm starting a franchise, I'm taking LeBron and laughing.
