  1. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 30, 2012 -> 12:59 PM) Who cares about the media? Will you, or anyone else on this board, or any average fan, not remember this as a season where a gigantic injury changed the course of the playoffs? This isn't the Clippers losing Billups. It's the #1 overall seed losing it's superstar. That's a significant and memorable event. Whatever team wins the Championship would win the Championship. No s*** the #1 overall seed lost it's superstar. Are you really posting like people don't know that? No s*** this isn't grampappy Billups. It's still an NBA season with an eventual winner.
  2. Nick Friedell ‏ @ESPNChiBulls Thibs spoke to Derrick again last night. He is hopeful Rose will be at the game Tuesday but wants him around team as soon as he can be.
  3. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 30, 2012 -> 12:51 PM) So small side story here, the Brooklyn Nets unveiled their team colors and new logos today. Team colors are......black and white. That's certainly an upgrade.
  4. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 30, 2012 -> 12:49 PM) It's not about whether they DESERVED it, but yes people absolutely do mention it (or more importantly, remember it) just like they do with the '94 rockets. Lebron winning in a shortened season plagued with injuries to 2 superstars in Howard and Rose will always be remembered. There will be an unofficial asterisk next to it. The year-long ESPN tour of GOAT talk about LeBron and his dick being sucked by every media outlet everywhere if he actually didn't choke in the big games this year would ensure that no random hypothetical asterisk you speak of would matter. Players get hurt. That's sports. It sucks. It doesn't mean the titles count any less. This year, it just means that Chicago is pissed.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 30, 2012 -> 11:23 AM) Pretty much what I was just saying... Matt Spiegel ‏ @MattSpiegel670 (1 of 2) To all those asking me to tweet about Cowley: Yesterday was not some new chapter in his act; he's always been that guy. (2 of 2) What IS new is him not standing by it, defiantly. Deletion of his account is a story.Have no idea whether that’s him or his bosses. Get over yourself, Matt Spiegel. The NFL Draft and worst injury ever happened over the weekend and the dude wanted to waste my time with Joe Cowley? Waddle and Silvy are killing it today, and Wilbon was great.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 30, 2012 -> 12:29 PM) I was told in the other thread that I should take very little fromm the fact that Fielder only has an OPS just over .800, and at some point he's going to go on a major HR streak. If that's the case, that'll make up for a lot of the issues they're having right now. LOL. You are kinda ridiculous when you come off really wrong in threads and get called for it. Did you see that bomb by Fielder yesterday? He's fine.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 30, 2012 -> 12:31 PM) Who was the last team to win a title without a star player? That is why people are jumping off of the bandwagon. Replace bandwagon with ledge and you describe the true Bulls fans. I will watch every game and there's zero doubt I'm going to somehow convince myself these games matter and this TEAM can rise up and surprise, but come the f*** on... even if they get past the 2.5 headed monster, there are TEAMS in the West that still have their superstars (most notably, Oklahoma City). Without Rose, I give the Bulls like a 5% chance to get out of the East, but like 2% against OKC, whom I expect to be the West winners.
  8. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 30, 2012 -> 12:25 PM) I dont understand why he wouldnt recover fully. The kid is in his early 20's, a full recovery is 100% expected. His work ethic is also a huge plus in rehab. He'll be fine, I just hope the roster turns out fine. Derrick Rose unlike any player we've seen before depends on his knee to make him as good as he is... Chris Paul adjusted well because he has elite vision and losing that half-step didn't ruin that. Derrick Rose was MVP because he had (had ) unrivaled athleticism. "This kid can jump out of the building, did you not get the memo?". His ability to cut, and especially to change direction at the rim is how he separated himself from the pack. Rose needs to change direction on the move and at high speeds to be effective. His work ethic certainly will help him. God save us.
  9. Sam Smith makes me feel slightly better about long-term possibilities.
  10. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 30, 2012 -> 11:50 AM) Here's a positive - if the Heat win there's a huge asterisk on the title. The memory of Lebron winning a title will quickly be followed up by everyone saying "well yeah, but the Bulls were the best team and lost Rose, so that was probably the easiest path to a title ever." Nope. Not a positive and I don't believe it. A title is a title, and staying healthy is a huge party of that.
  11. This is the worst for me as a fan in my life. At this point as a Chicago sports fan, I'm resigned to expecting the worst. At this point I have little faith in anything sports. An entire season of Derrick Rose already lost, and another one coming - NFC Championship Game? Jay Cutler injured. NHL season and playoffs? F*ck you Toews and Hossa. Every idiot on the White Sox? Plays like garbage. (2011, at least) Derrick Rose has been injured all year, but there was that hope. We knew what we were watching on Saturday was two things 1 - Derrick Rose not at 100% 2 - a team with a Derrick Rose at 85% that was going to win the Championship. We needed the threat of Rose out there, and if we couldn't get him healthy, him being out there was going to be enough. I honestly believed it. Rip was scoring, the bigs were getting to the rim. Everything was coming together. Then, with 1 minute left, the best player I've enjoyed as a sports fan of my generation (Jordan doesn't count - he belongs to the previous generation), quite possibly had his entire career altered in the first game of consequence of the season. We watched 66 games, knowing the Bulls were getting the 1 or 2 seed (but really knowing the 1 seed for the past month at least), just to get to these games that matter. The idiot in me hopes CJ Watson can step up and be 60% of Rose (not an awful comparison to the 85% we were getting), but even he will probably get injured - it's been proven. I have been sports depressed before - most notably with post-Cutler reaction last season as the Bears got to 7-3 and were putting up 40 points per game. I cannot even compute what happened with Rose over the weekend. It went from the decision in my mind that the Bulls were really going to win it all - that we'd finally get to see this team play, to the realization that it had all just come crashing down. To think, Derrick Rose's career has likely been altered because the NBA wanted 66 games instead of a much more manageable 55. I hate it all. I am getting less over it as the days move along.
  12. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 29, 2012 -> 05:18 PM) Well, the "act" might have just cost him his career. If it is an act, Joe may have realized it too late, "bra". They have links to his twitter on the Suntimes website. For some reason I really doubt his bosses appreciate the "act" he had today. Right, they absolutely hate that Cowley is breaking national news and the words Chicago Sun-Times are out there. This won't affect him one iota. The Twitter account will be back up in a week.
  13. I hadn't noticed the confirmation of future effort, just tossed that together real quick. Use if you like, psd provided.
  14. QUOTE (farmteam @ Apr 30, 2012 -> 10:08 AM) And if this is what many fans are feeling, I don't even want to fathom what Rose himself if feeling. Yeah, he's so competitive and so openly wants to be the best and wants to work for it. He said the day he got in the car wreck and realized his groin injury was the "worst day of his life", he could be headed for full-on depression mode and soon.
  15. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 30, 2012 -> 09:53 AM) You don't say? Is this still the state of anger? Or am I missing something? It's more depression and sports angst than anything at this point. Rose needs a full knee reconstruction as he tore both ACL and MCL's. The vast upside of this kid has been cut incredibly short, and we just spent an entire season waiting for the first consequential games only to have the most important player on the roster ruin his knee and subsequently lose a year of development and quite possibly that extra step that made him special. I am not over it.

  17. http://www.amazon.com/Cole-18-4-case-Carry...s/dp/B005HNXY1M That's a good one - I don't know the size of your laptop, but the Kenneth Cole ones look good for the young male professional.
  18. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Apr 30, 2012 -> 12:12 AM) Where does one go to purchase a laptop bag? Time to be a professional. QUOTE (knightni @ Apr 30, 2012 -> 01:05 AM) Are you talking leather or just a regular canvas-style bag? I always check eBay first. There are deals on brand new things on there all the time. How is the first and only response not "Amazon.com"? Best price and selection for almost anything.

    2012 TV Thread

Mad Men has really, really hit it's groove. Poor Sally grew up really quick. Last night might have been the tipping point for me with "The Killing". It's apparent they are just planning on introducing more and more bs and more and more characters that have had zero weight on the show thus far, while also pointing to different characters as the killer and building up huge evidence as to why it was said character before squashing it again. I think it's pretty clear the killer is going to come out of nowhere, and I feel like everything I've watched leading up to each moment is of zero consequence, because they seem to just be throwing darts at the mystery dartboard.
  20. QUOTE (OilCan @ Apr 29, 2012 -> 05:13 PM) Here's a writeup of the Bears' UFA signings. OT Brown from Troy intrigues me as PFW's Draft Magazine had him the fourth best OLT in the draft. http://www.chicagobears.com/news/NewsStory.asp?story_id=8783 The Bears will try to one-up themselves and start a rookie undrafted OLT instead of a rookie 7th round OLT!
  21. I hate that I chuckled. Now back to severe sports depression and melancholy.
  22. 1.5 million fans for regular season games alone is not something to turn a nose at; and that doesn't include all the other events that happen there.
