  1. "You like baseball, so please watch it even if the team you root for will lose a lot of games." At least it's honest.
  2. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Mar 13, 2012 -> 09:49 AM) Don't disagree, but if it is your final last ditched effort to keep Howard, than you have to do it. No matter what, having Howard is better than not. Sorry, I'd say keeping some integrity within your organization is better than having a player s*** all over it.
  3. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Mar 13, 2012 -> 09:36 AM) Not really. Howard is more important than your front office/coach. I hate to say it but he is. Allowing your player to hire/fire his GM and coach is never a good idea. They need to trade Howard as he's requested or let him walk in FA; sadly, they don't have a choice beyond that.
  4. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 13, 2012 -> 09:19 AM) The team's fortunes will likely rest on the four horsemen of underachievement from 2011: Dunn, Rios, Beckham and Peavy. IF all of them, or even three of them, get to where their talent/averages have been, this team will be well above .500. If, say, one or none of them recover in a meaningful way, I could see this team having a 2007-like record. I like this post, because I agree with it.
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 13, 2012 -> 09:28 AM) Those 2 studies aren't necessarily mutually exclusive. The lower cholesterol one was looking at a very specific case...a certain, controlled amount of red meat intake while on a certain diet including whole grains and exercise and looking only at cholesterol numbers compared with a larger study of mortality in general while not on that diet. Exactly.
  6. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Mar 13, 2012 -> 09:04 AM) Lol, yeah that was a poor argument. Wasn't there something in the last few years about red meat lowering cholesterol? Edit: http://news.menshealth.com/beef-good-for-y...art/2011/12/20/ That paragraph is ridiculous on many levels, mostly the final sentence which shows red meat had no health benefits over anything else whatsoever. It's the incredibly strict diet.
  7. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Mar 13, 2012 -> 09:19 AM) Red meat is bad for you IF consumed in too high of a quantity (note: moderation rears it's ugly head again) That was the point of my original post. How many people consume one hotdog (or some other similarly processed red meat - fast food)... ONE HOT DOG a day to be moderation? Because that s*** is killing people!
  8. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Mar 13, 2012 -> 08:58 AM) I don't know of one specifically off the top of my head, just seems like there are studies on red meat all the time. LOL, I really doubt there's been a legitimate study linking red meat to good health effects.
  9. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Mar 12, 2012 -> 10:44 PM) OL isn't that bad What team were you watching last year? Or the year before? Or the year before? FOR MULTIPLE YEARS, the Bears have been in dire need of OL and WR. They continually try to patch it with bad draft choices and over the hill free agency signings. Mario will be awesome, yes, but if they don't also address WR and OL, we'll be without Cutler by week 8 and out of the playoffs by week 12, and our priced DE duo will be injured from being on the field so f***ing much.
  10. I wonder if there are people out there who would consider this moderation. http://news.harvard.edu/gazette/story/2012...ises-red-flags/
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 13, 2012 -> 07:43 AM) DR1 rips refs. I will say one thing, Rose has been freaking out about calls for a good two weeks. Hell, the entire Bulls team has been arguing everything. It's actually quite fun to watch Rose grow up in front of our eyes. Superstars complain about calls and wind up getting them. Sadly, in the NBA these days, that's what you have to do.
  12. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Mar 13, 2012 -> 03:10 AM) In short, the Magic get Monta Ellis, the Warriors would get Andrew Bogut, and the Bucks would also get pieces. All of these deals revolve around "pieces" from the Magic, because they have no tradeable assets. I'd be surprised if they got Monta simply because they have nothing to offer of value.
  13. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Mar 12, 2012 -> 04:18 PM) Deng is a pretty darn good player. His contract is not an albatross. I think Deng went from being abhored for his contract to being appreciated a little swiftly. I love the guy, but he's still no Paul Pierce even at this advanced age. That being said, who knows what will happen come Thursday.
  14. One thing I would say about the Dwight rumors. If the Bulls could get him while keeping Noah - ie, only giving up Boozer, Deng, and some other s***, I say f***ing roll the dice and worst-case you got Boozer's contracts off the books.
  15. I know the deal will never happen, but good luck scoring in the paint against Noah and KG, Heat.
  16. Pretty well-respected poster at RealGM spraying to all fields re: Bulls. Like I said, spraying to all fields. At least the Bulls don't seem content. I'd imagine these injuries might force their hands into something. To add more fuel to this fire, Jim Paxson (not a typo, he's a Bulls' consultant) was at the Lakers/Celtics game yesterday. http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=6rh7zrc Rose, Watson Hamilton, Brewer Pierce, Brewer Garnett, Gibson Noah, Gibson Scalabrine Butler Lucas That's a really interesting 8 man rotation. Paul Pierce's 13/14 is not guaranteed. Obviously, that monster KG deal coming off the books is rather attractive.
  17. Wheeeeee http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article....articleid=16208 30. Chicago White Sox Top 11 Prospects List System At a Glance: It really is that bad.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Mar 12, 2012 -> 03:04 PM) I didn't know Jericho was based on comic books. From what I'm reading above, it sounds like he's talking about the comic book they wrote in place of the canceled season 3.
  19. According to FOX Sports' Jon Paul Morosi, the Blue Jays remain in pursuit of Gavin Floyd. A source told Morosi that the Jays have been talking to the White Sox about acquiring Floyd since spring training opened, and remain in contact here in mid-March. The 28-year-old righty posted a 4.37 ERA and 1.16 WHIP in 193 2/3 innings last season. He's owed $7.5 million in 2012 and carries a $9.5 million club option for 2013.
  20. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the NFL is taking away millions in salary-cap space from the Cowboys and Redskins for illegal front-loading of deals during the 2010 uncapped year. The Cowboys will lose $10 million compared to the Redskins' whopping $36 million hit. Dallas was reportedly $4.7 million under the $120.6 million cap while Washington was in better shape at $31.3 million under. The franchises have the option of splitting the damage over 2012 and 2013, but it's still going to have a deleterious effect on the Cowboys' speculated interest in major free agents such as LG Carl Nicks, DE/OLB Mario Williams, and CB Cortland Finnegan and the Redskins' pursuit of Vincent Jackson.
  21. They just stated it minutes ago. Talk.
  22. Guys, why are you getting worked up? This deal, and the reposting of Dwight to Chicago ideas are just being published to the web to generate clicks. There is nothing new here that we didn't know months ago. Dwight doesn't want to come to Chicago, the Bulls won't make a deal unless he extends. It's not rocket science and there's no reason to get worked up here. Orlando will hold Dwight unless a team that's not on his list comes calling. They'll either get Dwight to stay for the extra $29 million - which is a good bet since it's, you know, $29 million - or they'll have lots of cap space, go into rebuild with a bunch of chuckers, and wait for the next chance. Getting guys like the oft-injured Brook Lopez won't entice Orlando, that's just inviting yourself to be in NBA hell.
  23. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Mar 12, 2012 -> 12:39 PM) Wow. Asik + Deng + Boozer + Charlotte pick and Dwight doesn't want to be here. THAT deal I do. Noah + Deng is a little different, but that one, just, wow. I love Deng as much as the next guy, but Noah-Dwight-Gibson is an insane defensive front court. You could start Korver and Brewer/Butler. But the manchild doesn't want to be here, so f*** him. That "report" is just citing the article recently posted. The players are just a suggestion, and there's absolutely no report saying the Magic would do that deal as proposed above.
