    QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 6, 2012 -> 04:22 PM) Just bought this off of Ebay, and started it on Monday. It's awesome.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 6, 2012 -> 04:23 PM) Correct me if I am wrong, but weren't you one throwing a fit because Hamilton was playing injured earlier this year? Throwing a fit? No. I said he shouldn't have rushed back for selfish reasons against the Pistons in Detroit and against the Heat on national TV. If the dude is going to get hurt when someone bumps into his shoulder (did you watch the game? did you see the impact?) then we have a problem.
  4. So how does Beckham's stance look? Trying to get that stock to come back up since he's one of the few I felt ballsy enough to get an authentic jersey of a couple years ago!
  5. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Mar 6, 2012 -> 03:54 PM) What is the point of that comment. The point of that comment was that Rip Hamilton is a p****. To elaborate, he took himself out of a game because he got bumped in the shoulder. To elaborate further, I'm tired of Rip Hamilton being injured this year, and overreacted.
  6. QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Mar 6, 2012 -> 04:13 PM) I could care less as long as his OBP is near .400. First, when one says they "could care less" that means they do care. Also, it's hard to have an OBP near .400 with a batting average below .210. Thank you, though, for the post that yields nothing.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 6, 2012 -> 04:02 PM) I think you have those 2 backwards Yeah, I apparently was typing to quickly.

    QUOTE (Tex @ Mar 6, 2012 -> 03:55 PM) I would say it is much more beach-n-beer than leather chair-n-brandy I like that saying and will now be using it.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 6, 2012 -> 12:44 PM) It's worth noting Tex that the government has many options here. It isn't limited to making it illegal to eat meat...it could, instead, end the massive subsidies that it gives to encourage overproduction of meat products, and perhaps even regulate/tax the enormous amounts of pollution and greenhouse gases given off by those facilities...thus effectively allowing people to make a fair determination as to what fraction of their caloric intake should be meat based on market prices. Hell, they could even simply extend animal cruelty laws to include those are farm animals (almost mind-blowing they they don't), which would inherently make it much more difficult for those facilities to exist in the way they do. But that will never happen, obviously, as the meat industry is in the government's back pocket.
  10. According to the Bulls, Rip Hamilton has a should contusion or mild shoulder strain. Basically, he's a p****.
  11. QUOTE (TitoMB @ Mar 6, 2012 -> 02:52 PM) I'll say over. Gimme Dunn at .260/30/90, and I'll be happy. That would make you happy? Just slightly over an improvement in average of 100 points, eh? That's all you need?

    QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Mar 6, 2012 -> 02:20 PM) I'm up and down with Murakami's 1Q84 right now. The concept of the book (parallel universes that you vacillate between) is really intriguing. Not so sure about the execution of it yet. That's on my list, I just didn't want to jump into that monster right after 11/22/63.
  13. Beats the hell out of looking at Adrian Gonzalez.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 6, 2012 -> 01:19 PM) What does Martin's contract look like? It's in the picture of the post you quoted.
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 6, 2012 -> 01:39 PM) Taking on that $1.5 million this year puts the Bulls in tax territory this year. That costs the Bulls their luxury tax payment of several million dollars, but then really hammers the Bulls in the next couple years when the repeat offender tax kicks in. Please don't accuse me of caring about JR's pocketbook...this is just what the Bulls' GM will be looking at. Yeah, they resist the hell out of that. Good catch. You could probalby send them jimmy butler, too, since he gets no run. At this point though, you'll have the Rockets yawning unless they're getting that Charlotte pick.
  16. QUOTE (Tex @ Mar 6, 2012 -> 01:02 PM) IMHO they cannot be "in it" with those kind of numbers from Dunn. If the Sox are to have a chance, he'll hit .265/40/120. If .198/22/76, they are out of it. I wish I could see it anyway. I don't believe being out of it last year helped or hurt him. I agree with this post.

    QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Mar 6, 2012 -> 01:04 PM) I've steered clear of the "Hunger Games" books because I've seen them billed as being geared towards "young adults." I'm not even sure what that means, but I know I don't fit that definition. This thread, however, has me reconsidering. Is there anything in particular about them that would turn off an old fart? That's why I avoided. My mother loaned one to me and the typeface was too large and turned me off. Then I downloaded for e-reader, picked my font size and rocked and rolled. The writing is very much for adults.

    QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Feb 24, 2012 -> 02:29 PM) I'm trying to psyche myself up to start "Infinite Jest." Its length and all the footnotes make it a little intimidating. Has anybody here tackled it? I've been in your boat. I want to read it and it's on my bucket list, but man, what an undertaking that will be. Plus, footnotes are screwy on an e-reader.

    I started the first "Hunger Games" and couldn't put it down. I don't know why I resisted so long.
  21. QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Mar 6, 2012 -> 11:39 AM) Thanks. I put it in rice. The Chinese built it, and now they will fix it. Gotta love it. This post got me to giggle.
