2011-2012 OFFICIAL NBA LOCKOUT thread

QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Oct 24, 2011 -> 03:25 AM) Seriously. And judging from the youtube videos and highlights, it's less competitive than most pick-up games. It's not like they're hibernating all summer. As long as he doesn't get on a motorcycle... ...or trip on his luggage... -

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Oct 24, 2011 -> 07:55 AM) No pride, season is over, Peyton would have kept the defense off the field at least. Everyone in the world knew that Manning was one of if not the most valuable player in football but yeesh... Yeah, it's akin to the Cavs minus LeBron. -

The Bears deserve to blow this due to Mad-Martz' ridiculously stupid playcalling. -

Stupid play calls by Martz. You're up by 2 scores, you've run like mad all day long, and you pass first two downs? -

What's a good, British drink? I want to make something special for today's game... off to Google, I guess! -
QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Oct 21, 2011 -> 10:52 PM) I'm playing madden and drinking big hurt beer waiting for my dumbass friends to pick me up for a party. So I have no idea. I had a very similar evening on Friday night. Played Madden, drank BHB, and waited for a buddy to pick me up so I could be his wingman. Good times.

I really don't get the hate on Kreutz. Jesus, everyone's so quick to flame. He did f***ing walk away. He could have collected a paycheck all year long. He was tired of looking like an idiot and left a lot of money on the table. Yeah, what he did with the Bears was ill-advised... blame (and thank) his agent. Kreutz deserves nothing but praise for being a good soldier and a truly elite player at his position for more than a decade. Man, I really hate how reactionary and negative everyone is to players at the end of their careers. It'd be f***ing hard for me to admit that I now sucked after many years of being awesome, too. -
QUOTE (knightni @ Oct 19, 2011 -> 01:33 PM) The cards. Nice!

QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 21, 2011 -> 01:01 PM) Exactly. Why can't anybody except Balta be willing to discuss this. He f***ed up badly and nobody wants to talk about it cause I mention Ozz in the same context? Why the venom? I'm trying to make points. Everybody wants me to cite examples. I do and get nailed hard. Watching the game with friends, you could tell Motte didn't have it. I was impressed and amazed he took him out and said, 'If this move works, he's a genius, replacing the closer.' It failed, they lost and one guy watching with us said: 'Now the story is LaRussa took out his closer. You can't take out the closer. It will kill his confidence the rest of the series.' Managers often cannot win. ALL MANAGERS even ones named Ozzeroo. I swear to God if you post about Ozzie again I am going to throw this apple I'm eating at the wall.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Oct 21, 2011 -> 12:49 PM) Guess the tweeter: "Great man, great coach. One day Sox fans will have an idea of what a hitting coach actually does and appreciate Walk." too english to be oz COWLS!

I don't understand the qualifications that go into being a hitting coach after the amount of fail that has been on the Southside.

QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Oct 21, 2011 -> 11:53 AM) I actually talked to him about a month ago on another message board. Cool story, bro.

QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Oct 21, 2011 -> 12:44 PM) I can safely say that I am getting old. Today I got my first paycheck after being unemployed for two months and bought a couple shirts for work and a coat. What happened to me? I used to be cool. I get super-jazzed when Express has their dress shirts on buy one get one half off and I can combine them with a coupon.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 21, 2011 -> 10:24 AM) It was Hammer with the set play off the face off. Just awesome. This team has alot in common with the Cup Winning team from the back to the front. Hopefully we can stay healthy and Craw's groin doesnt flare up and force us to use Emery. Hammer = IKEA Yeah, if Craw missed a decent amount of time, you'd see Salak up here, as he's the superior goaltender, and the organization knows it.

That's pretty tight. -
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 21, 2011 -> 09:56 AM) They are so much better than before and it sounds like they have great team chemistry. There are still a few lapses that let the other team in the game but I assume some of that is having alot of new guys still gelling. The PP could use some work. I'm telling everyone. Knock on wood for health, but this team is better than the one that won the Cup two years ago. I pray they stay healthy. They are f***ing relentless. The whole attack is beautiful. With the puck in the zone, they are deadly and use every piece of open real estate. The team, as a whole (even Carcillo, who keeps impressing me) is utilizing Gretzky's Office so well, which keeps the goaltender off his game and makes the d-men work extra hard. That pass from Carcillo to Toews last night was a prime example. As for the rush out of the zone; I'd feel bad for the other teams if it weren't the Hawks dominating them. You go for a line change? You better be ready for a 3 line pass to start another rush. I forget which d-man started a play last night (I think it was IKEA), but he launched the puck out of the zone on a designed play off a faceoff just outside the Hawks' blueline, which skipped off the boards and directly to a streaking Hossa right as he entered Avs territory for a 1-on-1 wrister and a spectacular reaction by Varlamov to keep it out of the net. As someone who has played ice hockey his entire life, making that kind of pass is ridiculous. The Blackhawks have such a unique combination of defensemen who can start a rush... it's magic. If not for Varlamov standing on his head in the 2nd/3rd periods last night, the Hawks win a laugher. /gushing

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 21, 2011 -> 01:35 AM) Just finished Internal Affairs. I'm even more disappointed in The Departed now than I was before. Besides Departed adding 50 minutes of useless material, a retardedly convoluted ending, and making the two girls one person for extra "drama", it was an exact remake. That sounds odd looking back over it, but I know others here have seen it and agree. *Infernal

Yeah, see, this is where Rose is being smart. His boys will happily drive him around (although dude shoulda been sober obviously) vs letting D take the plunge. I'm sure that guy will be handsomely rewarded for his troubles. I mean, sure, I'd prefer the league MVP and the only reason the Bulls stand a chance to not be out clubbing and taking the inherent risk that is getting in the car with someone over the legal limit, but that'd make me quite the hypocrite given my willingness to do something similar in the past and I'm sure in the future. -
QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Oct 21, 2011 -> 09:47 AM) Sounds like they've shown a lot these last two games. I wish I could have stayed awake to see them. Yes. They are playing quite well.
