Phil Rogers is the absolute worst.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 05:53 PM) Steve Jobs resigned? http://www.washingtonpost.com/business/app...6BcJ_story.html HOLY SH*T GOOGLE!

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 04:51 PM) Pena is being pulled back. Hendry may be gone, but the Cubs are still idiots.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 04:28 PM) Wever understands that life isnt always necessarily about who has the biggest pay day. "If $85 (million) is not enough to take care of my family and other generations of families then I'm pretty stupid, but how much money do you really need in life?" Weaver said Tuesday. "I've never played this game for the money. I played it for the love and the competitive part of it. It just so happens that baseball's going to be taking care of me for the rest of my life."

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 03:17 PM) Realistically, how many of those guys do you really think will come through to their potential? Heck Santana has had a Gordon Beckham type season already. WTF? He's a catcher with a near .800 OPS that's largely based on power. He's going to finish with around 25 bombs and a .350 OBP. Sign me up.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 02:54 PM) Who? Fathom comes to mind. But that's only because he's the most active gamethread participant on the board. That's the most efficient way to drive up that post-count. Oh come on, it's clearly Balta and that's why he posted it. Dude seriously never leaves the interwebs.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 02:51 PM) Actually he's at 26 posts per day (This is displayed on his profile). There's at least one other poster on this site who is currently averaging about 31. That's what I get for rounding. 31 per day. Yikes.

Also... am I the only person who clicks on this thread almost excited to see who died? Then I find out most of the time I have no idea who it is so I need not bother tweeting or posting something about it? How f***ed up is that?

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 01:48 PM) This thread really should be renamed (Insert Person Who Has A Meager Claim To Fame (Plus About 10 Actual Celebrities A Year)) is Dead. or (Notable Person) is Dead

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 02:33 PM) Well I figure he sleeps every now and then. Or does he? Over the course of his tenure here SS2k5 has averaged 28 posts per day. (holy s***) If we assume 8 hours slept per day, he loses 33% of the day of posting due to sleep. This leaves 16 hours for 28 posts. SS2k5, on average, has not gone 34 waking minutes without a post over an 8 year period!

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 08:48 AM) You better act fast before all of the playoff tickets are gone! werd

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 02:31 PM) It's not like SS2K5 going 24 consecutive minutes without posting. Now that's impossible. Fixed.

QUOTE (Cali @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 01:41 PM) I said it in the AL Central catch all, but I think there is every chance in the world if a game one match-up is Verlander vs. Lester/Sabathia that the Tigers lose 2-1 or 3-2 and then they're f***ed. IF the White Sox offense can score 4 earned against Verlander TWICE in a season, the Red Sox or Yankees could too... The man's era across 210 innings pitched is 2.28. This post of yours here defies logic. Verlander is aces almost every time out.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 12:29 PM) Well fathom did call them "damn good", so that's what we have been questioning. Nothing to do with the White Sox chances. They have the 4th best record in the AL. Even if they have a s***ty division, they're pretty damn good.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 12:21 PM) I think Peyton is pretty proud of his consecutive games started streak. I wonder if he would take a snap or two, hand it off, then leave the game just to keep the streak going. He seems like the type of guy who would. I would think if he's proud of it, he'd also respect it and only start the game if he were seriously ready to play. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 12:13 PM) The Sox aren't going to catch them barring a miracle, but I can't see how people have decided a team that can't run away with this year's AL Central is a monster. I don't think anyone called them a monster or predicts them to win the World Series. However, they have a big enough lead in the AL Central right now that it can be considered that they are running away with it.

QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 11:48 AM) It's been good, but I think the show was at its best when Walt and Jesse had more scenes together, and Walt was a sympathetic character. Obviously as time goes on, Walt is morphing into a badass, and that's part of the character development, but I think the show has lost something because of it. Hopefully they can finish this season on a high note, and go out in style next year. I'm enjoying the Mike/Jesse relationship a ton.

QUOTE (The Critic @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 07:13 AM) "There’s not a doubt in my mind that I’m not going to win a championship." So Derrick Rose is absolutely sure that he's not going to win a championship. The English language is tricky, kids! Jeez, I didn't even notice that. LOL. -
Buster_ESPN Buster Olney High expectation among executives that Jason Kubel will be claimed by either White Sox, Indians, Rangers or Yankees. We'll see.
-
QUOTE (Baron @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 11:54 AM) Apparently were placing a claim for Kubel now lol Sox are going to be damned if they'll let anyone get to the Tigers.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 11:45 AM) Danks also missed a month. And hopefully if you somehow got to the playoffs, you get the 2nd half John Danks rather than the 0-7 first half John Danks. big difference. John Danks is what he is... a near-4 era pitcher. He is probably the most over-valued guy on Soxtalk.
