So.... Gordon Beckham looks like s***. Discuss.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 09:31 AM) Morneau left in the 5th inning of yesterday's game with back stiffness. They're saying it's minor and unrelated to last year's back injury. Of course they are... but you never know.

You posted Downer's Grove, so I assume Lombard works. I saw a sign at Famous Liquors (nice liquor store, not some dump that gets robbed) looking for part-time nights/weekends cashiers/stockers just yesterday. Famous Liquors 105 East Roosevelt Road, Lombard, IL (630) 629-3330

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 03:00 AM) The Mayor! Aw, I opened this thread just to type that. F*ck it... THE MAYOR!

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 10:13 AM) disagree, there is validity to a rumor like this. KW is actively shopping for a bat to energize this s*** offense. Source?

QUOTE (lord chas @ Apr 27, 2010 -> 09:54 PM) bulls showed alot of heart. we they can sign bosh and move noah to pf this team is a contender If you sign Bosh, he plays PF and Noah stays at center. That's a HUGE if, as you'll likely have to trade for him given his admission that if he leaves, he wants to do so in a sign-and-trade to "help Toronto out".

QUOTE (Al Lopez's Ghost @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 07:48 AM) Never gonna happen. Just Rogers filling up space. Wrap your fish in this junk. Nice and accurate.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 27, 2010 -> 03:04 PM) Plus I am not convinced that Brouwer's back is healthy. I think you have your Blackhawks forwards whose last names start with a 'B' mixed up. -

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 27, 2010 -> 02:45 PM) Ya I like what the Hawks are doing with him actually. Reminds me of what they did with Hjammarsson last year. Getting the second round pick some playoff experience. He will be with the Hawks next season (another guy... say Eager for example will go as a cap casualty) so it's good he's learning on the ropes here. Well, he also works really well with Kane and Toews (though who wouldn't?) He's not afraid to muck it up and fight for the loose puck. -
Bulls mercifully will be put to bed tonight. Supposedly the VDN firing will happen the day after they are eliminated. I plan on cracking a beer in celebration tomorrow.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 27, 2010 -> 11:52 AM) He's still overpaid, but he has shown that he is a valuable part of the team. I wonder if Q will stick with Bickell in the lineup, he seemed to played pretty well(playing on a line with Kane/Toews makes it easier). Vancouver seems to be a bigger, more physical team, so I don't know if he'd wanna bring back the 4th line bangers, Fraser or Eager. Still nothing new on Johnsson. Bickell will be in the lineup. I'd be surprised to see any lineup changes, really. -
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 27, 2010 -> 10:22 AM) There is no player in major league baseball right now, that as a GM, I'd sign to a contract that big (unless I was the Yankees GM and had basically endless money to spend). Its the equivalent of putting a third of your 401k into one stock. Its just stupid for a franchise to put that much stake in one player. Let alone a player that is as feast or famine as Ryan Howard is...

QUOTE (smalls2598 @ Apr 27, 2010 -> 11:25 AM) What is the approximate date the next round starts? I know the Capitals/Canadians and Red Wings/Coyotes have to finish their game 7's, but what can we expect? A Saturday or Sunday start? Friday is my best guess. -
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 27, 2010 -> 10:46 AM) I'm 13-2 on the season. Beckham just got hurt though, out 2 months That stinks. What level are you playing on? I'm happy to be 7-5 on All-Star!

So... is Rick Porcello showing us why you don't throw a 20 year old into the fire for a ton of innings against Major Leaguers? He can't get anyone out.

QUOTE (scenario @ Apr 27, 2010 -> 09:34 AM) Saw this in a Yahoo article about fans getting hurt at games... "During spring training, Minnesota outfielder Denard Span lined a foul ball that hit his mother sitting in the stands near the Twins’ dugout." Geez. What are the odds of hitting your mother with a line drive during a game? It was a million to one shot, doc... million to one.

QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Apr 26, 2010 -> 05:17 PM) You could make an argument that he has more power than Pujols. Not really. If Albert swung at everything and sacrificed average and walks for more strikeouts, he'd clear 60 each year. He's a much more complete player, but his "power" is only less than Howard's because he's that much better.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 27, 2010 -> 01:07 AM) My mother is gonna have back surgery to repair 2 herniated disks at the TOP of her spine. They will have to cut from her neck to go back there. (barely can lift her right arm as it is, and if they wait any longer, she will be paralyzed from the neck down even though she's walking fine now besides her arm) Very dangerous surgery from her other ones. This will be her 4th major surgery in the last 3 years (dangerous job she has with these surgeries, though the money is good of course), but none are as bad as this one. Pulling for her, buddy.

I must admit that this game gets better and better the more you play it. On the harder difficulties, it feels as real as any sports game I've encountered.
