  1. John Lackey may be the best pitcher in baseball right now and Santana owned the Sox in only his second career start. The Sox must win ONE to bring it back to Chicago. I'm hopeful, but this is going to be a very bad weekend unless someone steps up at the plate...Carl? Paul? Jermaine? I hate the 2-3-2 format
  2. I just watched the replay of the inning on MLB.TV Rowand struck out before AJ came to bat. He struck out on a ball in the dirt. Watch it if you can - the umpire does not pump his fist until JP tags out Rowand. Interesting that the same exact thing happened but the signals were different.
  3. I say on to the next controversy: WHERE THE HELL HAS OUR HITTING GONE??!!
  4. I have only one question: If Eddings did indeed signal that he was out, then why would watching AJ run to first make him change his mind? This is a professional umpire with years of MLB experience. Do you honestly think that after calling AJ out he changed his mind? These guys stand by their calls to a fault, IMO. He never hesitated watching AJ run to first the whole way. If in his mind he had already called him out then he would've waived him off and said you're out, why the hell are you running to first?! I think you have to give the ump the benefit of the doubt on this one.
  5. QUOTE(YASNY @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 12:16 AM) Two comments on Crede plays screw up. One, I think he the flight of the ball fooled him. I think he thought the ball would get down sooner than it did. Two, when he started back to 2B, his first step was lost due to his foot slipping. I'm not excusing him for the mistake, but he would have been safe if he hadn't slipped. he never would've slipped if he hadn't been so far off and realized he was going to get nailed. no matter - goat to hero. That's baseball.
  6. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Oct 12, 2005 -> 02:48 PM) Anywhere on the net to watch the game/ I don't get FX-I'm worried MLB.TV should carry it - you can always sign up for just one game
  7. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 12, 2005 -> 04:01 PM) According to my DirecTV program guide that I checked last night...FX, but not the actual FX...some sort of "FX2" channel they've invented. bueno, muchas gracias
  8. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 12, 2005 -> 01:30 PM) Hmph, I'm not sure if this belongs here, in its own Pale Hose thread, or in it's own SLaP thread. Senator Barack Obama is slated to throw out the first pitch tonight. Balta, are we Fox or FX tonight, do you know?
  9. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Oct 12, 2005 -> 11:42 AM) The last 4 teams to go to the WS from the AL lost the first game of the ALCS Until last night, Soscia was 0-5 in the first game of a playoff series. What I've always loved about the playoffs is that a team's weaknesses always come to the forefront and usually decide the series. Situational hitting and weak defense caught up with the Yankees. Same with the Red Sox. I think last night's game will prove to be a microcosm of this series with the Angels. One team's ability to execute the bunt and the other's inablility pretty much decided last night's game. There are not many weaknesses on the Angels nor on the Sox. This is going to be a very, very good series that goes back and forth the whole way with very small plays having a very big impact, IMO. Who gets down the bunt, who makes the defensive gem, who moves a runner along, etc. I love October.
  10. Sox just need to have a couple of good things happen early to wash the taste out of their mouths. They'll be fine.
  11. QUOTE(YASNY @ Oct 11, 2005 -> 11:20 PM) That was a pathetic bunting display. In fact, that was the only time I really got pissed off the whole game. He choked. Badly. He'd be the first to admit it too. Oh well. Must win 4 of 6 from a west coast team. That is all.
  12. we sucked. they won. Angels lead 1-0. Play ball...
  13. looked like a lot of the Sox were swinging for the fences instead of putting men on base and moving them over. They played about as s***ty as they were playing in August and September, and that's saying something. Too bad that momentum is gone. They'll have to create some more tomorrow but it starts with a smart approach at the plate. Otherwise they'll be done before they knew what hit them.
  14. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Oct 11, 2005 -> 02:17 PM) "Every man has his price"--The Million Doallr Man, Ted DeBiase. I loved Ted DeBiase. Thanks for that, haven't thought of him in YEARS.
  15. QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Oct 11, 2005 -> 04:30 PM) Cool! So we must meet again for games 3 4 & 5! I can't make game 3 but I've got tickets for game 4 on Saturday and Sunday if necessary. We've got to put something together. You taking the train up? It drops you off in the parking lot.
  16. QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Oct 11, 2005 -> 03:34 PM) http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article...t=.jsp&c_id=cws The link above is the box score of March 27th in Peoria AZ where the wife & I sat on the lawn watching JC get absolutely bombed! JC is absolutely the best story other than Harold Baines in my life as a soxfan. And to think I read on this very board extremely antagonistic remarks about how JC & El Duque were the CUBAN this & that. You know who you are....shame on you! You know it is really ez to jump a guy who isnt performing well but it takes more of a man to believe in a loser and make him into a winner! I hope that JC goes out there and absolutely proves himself AGAIN! Hey! I was there too!
  17. Rowand was just on the radio with two jags from the local ESPN affiliate in LA (actually, they're not that bad). One kept calling him "Aaron Roland" until finally he was corrected. I think he'll remember his name a week from now.
  18. I bought one in Tucson, believe it or not. They actually have a pretty damn good shop there.
  19. Just secured tickets for game 4 in Anaheim. I'm so damn psyched. Beware the wounded dog - must win tonight. The Angels will not go quietly.
  20. It's only right that the two best and evenly matched teams meet in the ALCS. I've watched a ton of Angels games this year. Believe me when I say our bullpen will have to step up. Like the Sox, they keep games close and find ways to win in the end. They don't beat themselves. And I don't look for them to be jetlagged or winded from the Yankee series - just the opposite, in fact. I hope the Sox come out aggressive otherwise the Angels can steal this first one.
  21. I found pretty good seats through a broker online - $120, upper deck but within the baseline. That's a great ballpark anyway, good views.
  22. i'm saying a-rod goes yard edit: wrong again
  23. Jeter went into the home run trot - forgot he wasn't in yankee stadium!
  24. Colon has an inflamed right shoulder and still threw a 95 mph heater. Mercy.
