  1. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Oct 3, 2005 -> 03:07 PM) Tony G has been a guy who has caused us trouble. Let's keep him off the basepaths please. He's still Tony G, a guy who wouldn't even start on the Sox. That says something right there. Speaking of Derek Lowe, who's taking his place this year? And Pedro? And Foulke?
  2. QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Oct 3, 2005 -> 03:15 PM) Gammons picked us too. Let's see you shake off that jinx. I mentioned in another thread, but Gammons was on Dan Patrick today picking the carmines in THREE! what a jag, printing one thing then saying another. He doesn't think the Sox can score enough to keep up with Boston. Yeah Pete, that pitching staff scares the s*** out of us.
  3. Ain't it funny that somehow every year the so-called experts forget what wins baseball games in October? In case you've forgotten: PITCHING and DEFENSE. Obviously you have to score runs to win but in the playoffs it's almost always about low scoring games and good pitching and defense. Year in year out. People point to Boston's prodigious lineup last year while I point to Derek Lowe, Pedro Martinez, Curt Schilling and Keith Foulke. If the Yankees had any kind of pitching whatsoever the Red Sox would never have come back against them. Have people forgotten what Derek Lowe did last year??? IMHO Boston has failed to replace Foulke, Lowe or Pedro and Schilling was better last year than he is now, bloody sock and all. This is a match up that favors the white sox, no doubt about it. I just don't see how people can overlook that. Whatever.
  4. pitching, pitching, pitching this is the playoffs, remember?
  5. QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Oct 3, 2005 -> 01:06 PM) Gammons actually picks the White Sox in 5!!! The consensus at ESPN is that the RedSox win in 4 He went on the Dan Patrick show today and Gammons predicted the Red Sox in 3!! Says the white sox can't score enough runs to stay up with them. :headshake
  6. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 3, 2005 -> 09:35 AM) I've been a bit worried about this lately...it does actually seem like his velocity is down, and those couple days where he didn't pitch last week didn't seem to help. Me too. Don't forget he had surgery on that arm. And even when that heater is up near 100, it's a pretty straight pitch. I just hope he stays away from throwing a slider. Yikes.
  7. QUOTE(JoshPR @ Oct 3, 2005 -> 08:34 AM) Black Jack McDowell he was on Chet Kopik last night and said he would not be interested in doing radio or TV. He said when he does come back to the game it will be to coach. He also had some great insight into the upcoming series and how Ozzie will not panic and so forth. He gave a lot of props to the Sox.
  8. That's awesome - Venezuela loves their baseball.
  9. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Oct 3, 2005 -> 06:09 AM) Yep, it's quite a list they got going. C.C Sabathia. Dimitri Young. Craig Monroe. ESPN Experts. Don't forget Casey Blake. Kenny Williams made mention of the CC interview on Best Damn after the Sox clinched in Detroit. He was asked whether the Sox would be playing hard in Cleveland and he said something like, after Sabathia said that, you can bet we'll try and sweep.
  10. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Oct 3, 2005 -> 09:54 AM) I'm sure. The guy is a shock sports journalism whore. I agree. he's a lot like Jim Rome who used to be a mild mannered sports DJ in San Diego until he discovered the value of becoming a shock jock. The rest is history.
  11. QUOTE(knightni @ Oct 2, 2005 -> 10:58 PM) Interesting views from the other side of the fence: http://sonsofsamhorn.net/index.php?showtopic=955 Ohhh... wait and see Red Cubs fans ...just wait...and see... here's another from The Globe...
  12. QUOTE(SnB @ Oct 2, 2005 -> 10:30 PM) can't agree with him more on the resigning konerko thing. He's our oly consistent offensive threat and unless you're magically going to replace that production, you have to pay him. Also, everett should have been out of the 3 hole a long time ago. If dye isn't in there on tuesday, i'm going to be pissed. you know he won't be. Our only hope is that Carl finds a "plan" and stops "swinging at everything." You know he'd love to stick it to the carmines.
  13. QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ Oct 2, 2005 -> 09:52 PM) I was going to turn down the TV volume and listen to Rooney and Farmio anyways, but this just adds more incentive. For those of you who have to listen to the TV broadcast, brace yourselves... From the Trib remember when "boomer" ripped Sox fans for booing Jerry Manuel as well as Cubs players during the all star game? I haven't forgotten it, that guy's a tool.
  14. That's a bit of a drive for me but I'll see what I can pull off. Keep me posted. Are any of you going to ALDS games in Anaheim? I've got a very good feeling that the east coast will not be getting the expected rematch of last year's ALCS. I think the Sox and Angels will do battle.
  15. Here's a reason to not give a s*** who we play: I really think the Sox pitching is in such good shape that it doesn't matter who they play. There are no KC's in the playoffs.
  16. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 06:58 AM) I'm calling bulls*** on this one, the way Ozzie kept going to El Duque down the stretch when everybody knew that McCarthy was the better choice leads me to believe that Ozzie has some amount of faith in El Duque. I just don't see El Duque being left off the playoff roster. This is hardly a done deal seeing how it was reported by the Daily Southtown who have a history of getting things like this wrong. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ drop Vizcaino, he blows
  17. QUOTE(Antonio Osuna @ Sep 30, 2005 -> 06:38 PM) Tropicana Field was built for the White Sox. And Jerry Reinsdorf was leading the charge to move the Sox out of Chicago, don't forget that.
  18. KC leads the Blue Jays in the top of the 4th. I know many of you are keeping an eye on that one. I'll try to keep you posted.
  19. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Sep 30, 2005 -> 04:58 PM) Mark looks REALLY good tonite. With the way JC has pitched, and Garcia yesterday, I'm starting to feel more confident about our chances in the playoffs.............As long as our hitting doesn't completely disappear well...they were consistent with RISP tonight. But given the AAA lineup, I'm okay with it.
  20. QUOTE(bigred3535 @ Sep 30, 2005 -> 04:35 PM) I wouldn't know. Indians announcers on MLB.TV. DJ's kind of stupid sometimes, but these guys just piss me off. You mean you don't love the Browns McDonalds commercials??
  21. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 30, 2005 -> 04:25 PM) How much you want to bet Mark's pitching with a hangover? didn't david wells throw a perfect game with a hangover? Nice job, Mark. You can tell Cleveland's tight. And is just me or was that strike zone pretty liberal for Millwood?
