  1. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 17, 2010 -> 04:32 PM) If Ozzie is smart, he'd run with Beckham here to avoid the DP. Tough when hes swinging at the 1st pitch
  2. Doesnt look like it...SportsSouth looks to have it, and you can get that on DirecTV
  3. TY to all of you that have dropped me a message
  4. Russ, our insurance company has been on board so far and have not been a problem...they just sent an advance on the house to get the construction company some money to get started...the hardest thing is to remember everything you had, and place it on a list...Then you have to set ages and prices to EVERYTHING on that list...the insurance co will go through that list item by item and keep a running total...They depreciate that total by age and cut you some money eventually...Then when you start to re-purchase items for your new house, they will re-pay you up to the initial value..EXAMPLE our couch was bought for 1,000 7 years ago...after claiming it, the insurance co may say its worth 300 now, so they give you the 300 now, and the 700 when you buy something new...if you buy something worth 2000 now, you only get it covered to 1000 so you would still only get the 700...upgrades on anything are your responsibility
  5. QUOTE (greg775 @ Mar 30, 2010 -> 03:00 PM) White Sox, first class. How did your house burn down? My house burned down due to a faulty outlet roughly 40 years old combined with crappy ALuminum romex behind the walls...a toxic combination...The outlet blew out and started my couch and afghans on fire, and it was spread across the room in less than 15 seconds QUOTE (greg775 @ Mar 30, 2010 -> 03:00 PM) What do you do when something like that happens? 1st grab your phone and whatever living things are in the house, for me it was my two dogs, wife and kids were at church...Get out of the fire and call 911, then stand there and watch in denial...Honestly the fire was out of control so fast, all I could do was get myself and my 2 dogs out...I didnt have time for my wallet or important documents...The firefighters said I had 90 seconds to get out or I would have been trapped so Im glad I did what I did and left everything else behind QUOTE (greg775 @ Mar 30, 2010 -> 03:00 PM) Where do you go? Thank GOD I have family in the area...for 6 days we stayed with my parents...your insurance co will try to find a place to live near your house and pay for the rent for you, its part of your coverage...Lucky for us, our church has an empty house attached in Lemont, so we were able to work a deal where we could stay there and the insurance pays our rent, while we still have to pay our mortgage...If you do not have family in the area, the insurance will put you up in a hotel until a rental is secured QUOTE (greg775 @ Mar 30, 2010 -> 03:00 PM) How do the kids go to school, etc? One of the biggest slaps in the face you could hear...the school district now categorizes us as a homeless family with special needs, so they send a bus to our rental to pick and drop off my daughter free of charge...I guess this is why you pay taxes and such for schools, they are helping us out big time...my wife had one of our cars and the other 2 cars were on the driveway and made it with minimal damage QUOTE (greg775 @ Mar 30, 2010 -> 03:00 PM) Do people step to the plate to help big time? Oh hell yes...the fire started at 9am, by the time I got to my parents at 6pm, One entire room of their house had items donated by friends and church members for myself, wife, 3 kids, and 2 dogs...They skipped 2nd service, went downstairs, and made lists of everything we would need to try to get back on our feet, including clothes, shoes, jackets (it was -3 out that day) toothbrushes, dog food, hair brushes...it was so overwhelming...without the help of everyone involved there is NO WAY we could have done this alone...the community was amazing and it really restores your faith in society and how good it could be and how great it really is QUOTE (greg775 @ Mar 30, 2010 -> 03:00 PM) How do you rebuild a wardrobe in a week? Well 95% of what I have now was donated to us by friends/family and church members...within 24 hours of the fire, my insurance was out to meet with us and handed us a $5,000 check to buy clothes for everyone...that is money targeted for us to re-buy our stuff eventually so that is like an advance on it...As for how long it takes to get a full wardrobe, who knows, there are so many nmore important things to take care of other than my clothes.
  6. Thanks guys, and like many of you have said...I love this organization...Im 35 going on 36, meaning I was born in 1974...I remember watching games dating back to 1979, and of course getting good grades and going to school meant free Sox tickets as well...Ive loved this team for 30 years now, and what they have done for me, its just awesome...simply said awesome...we were blown away for sure!
  7. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 29, 2010 -> 05:43 PM) Wow, sorry about your loss, I've lost all of my possessions in a fire before and I know how devastating it can be. Would you be interested in the Buehrle perfect game poster that the Sox sent me? If you're looking to give it a good new home sure!
  8. QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Mar 29, 2010 -> 02:30 PM) How about their age and the point at their careers when they did it? While amazing Wood did it so young, this point favor to Buehrle in that those hitters have seen him a million times in person and on video, while Houston hitters probably had no clue about Wood except for his 97MPH fastball...when they saw that hammer coming, it was time to bail!
  9. So as none of you know, on January 3rd, 2010, my house burned down and my wife, kids and I lost 99% of our stuff...Included was at least 12 old felt pennants dating from the 2000's back to the 40's, old time pictures dating back to the Opening of OLD Comiskey Park, my 1959 World Series Program, my 2005 World Series Program, my 2005 World Series ticket stub, 2003 All-Star game tickets, 1983 All Star game Program, just TONS of white Sox stuff in general, signed balls by Thomas, Thome, bobble heads, signed Harold Baines photo, countless pics of Old Comiskey, it sucked...but I realized that it was just stuff, while I thought that stuff was the most important stuff in the world, it didnt matter to me...My kids toys, my wife's clothes, all of that was a bigger deal to lose to me... A friend of mine wrote a letter to the White Sox Organization saying that he was a Cub fan but was devastated for me and my losses, and apparently he said anything that can help rebuild my collection would be appreciated...He told me he wrote this but I didnt expect anything, Im sure the White Sox hear stories like this 10x a day and cant help everyone out that says they had a bunch of stuff... But I received a package the other day from the Chicago White Sox, a pretty beat up box, but none the less, from the White Sox...I was very intrigued...Inside was a letter from Christine O'Reilly, Senior Director of Community Relations, explaining how she received this letter from my friend..She wrote" I have enclosed a few White Sox gifts in hopes that this will inspire you to start your collection again. I hope that these bring you some comfort and joy during this difficult time." So inside the package were the following: -Jermaine Dye and Paul Konerko figurine of their 300th HRs that looks like was a gift to the season ticket holders -Signed Ozzie Guillen Sox Hat -Autographed AJ Pierzynski baseball with 8 x 10 photo -Autographed Matt Thornton baseball with 8 x 10 photo -Blown up SI cover of my avatar, Mark Buehrle's SI cover after the perfect game Now I know alot of you are probably thinking, yea big deal, I have more impressive things than those...but what amazes me is the fact that the organization took time to read my buddy's letter, gather up things for my family and I, and try to feed our passion (White Sox Baseball) during the most difficult times in our lives... I share my story to confirm what we already know, the Chicago White Sox are a Top Notch organization who really do care for their fans, and I cant thank them enough for this gesture on their behalf!!
  10. That 20K game made Wood a lot of money!! As a fan of course we would rather the perfecto...As for domination, Wood way more dominant...as for more occurrancers, perfect games...Both pitchers were in fact AWESOME on those days...We are all amazed by what MB did b/c he does not hane no hit stuff, yet he has 2 no nos...makes him a GREAT pitcher in my mind.. As for impressive, I have to go with the perfect game...The teams mobs you like you won a world series, MB got a call from the President, and its 27 in a row... What impressed me about Wood was he kept his pitch count at a managable level to remain in that game to get 20Ks
  11. B, The nike symbol on the baseball hat is a turnoff!!
  12. Dayan Viciedo didn't run out a pop and received a special message from general manager Ken Williams during Monday's B game against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Viciedo jogged to first base, prompting Williams, who was sitting in the stands, to yell at his Cuban prospect to run to first base. After the out, Williams walked from his seat before home plate to the Sox's dugout to talk to manager Ozzie Guillen about the incident. Matt Thornton threw a scoreless first inning, although he needed an accurate throw from right fielder Stefan Gartrell to home plate to nail Brian Giles to end the inning. Gartrell left the game in the bottom of the second after getting hit on the left knee by a pitch. The Sox lead the Dodgers 3-1 in the bottom of the sixth.

  16. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Dec 8, 2009 -> 12:41 AM) In another shocking turn of events the Washington Nationals will waste $6M over the next 2 years on Ivan Rodriguez. Thats what I thought when he signed with a then 49-113 Tigers team, and VOILA!! they were in the WS 2 yrs later!!
  17. AJ is hitting .2996, rounded up to .300...By sitting him, he becomes the first Sox C in history to hit .300
