  1. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 31, 2012 -> 10:07 AM) The only teams that scored less points than the Eagles this year were Arizona, Jacksonville and KC. It would be the perfect Bears hire for more offense. They will wind up hiring an assistant with no head coaching experience because they are the Bears. Yeah, I'd hate to hire the next Sean Payton.
  2. QUOTE (danman31 @ Dec 30, 2012 -> 02:26 AM) Ha. You're awful. I'm so glad my team beat yours so I can be an ass and on some level know that bothers you. Hey, good one again. On fire.
  3. QUOTE (danman31 @ Dec 29, 2012 -> 01:29 AM) Be quiet. QUOTE (danman31 @ Dec 29, 2012 -> 02:06 PM) I think it's quite clear that's what he meant. My response remains the same. Good one.
  4. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Dec 28, 2012 -> 12:55 AM) I know we always joke about the meatball fans and everything, but I honestly havent come across a single person who said they want the Vikings to win for the single reason that theyre playing the Packers even though it could cost the Bears the playoffs. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Dec 28, 2012 -> 06:54 AM) I want the Vikings to win because it could cost GB a bye and thus hurt their chances of reaching the Super Bowl, and the Bears aren't going anywhere even if they do make it in. I have better things to do on January 5 than watch the Bears lose by 30+ at SF. Aaaaaaaand we've found the meatball.
  5. Decent step for the NHL, now we have to see how the union responds. They aren't THAT far away from each other...it'd be completely ridiculous if they can't get an agreement done. But we've come to expect ridiculousness.
  6. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 27, 2012 -> 10:43 PM) Question: Does #12the retired? I feel like AJ is close, but falls short. No, and I don't think it's a tough call.
  7. All teams BP caps this year...Sox going back to one they had IIRC in the early 2000's (I had one). Black top, gray brim. Still pisses me off they got rid of the sock logo in the diamond. Congrats, you now have no secondary logo which could have been used here. http://espn.go.com/blog/playbook/fandom/po...g-practice-caps
  8. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 27, 2012 -> 05:43 PM) No...I am saying the primary sources are available online usually as well...just in electronic form as opposed to physical form. Many times things are just better organized electronically, because they can be recalled instantaneously. I thought where Jenks was going was to say critical thinking skills develop from having to find the primary sources themselves and go from there as opposed to having the tendency to just read some schmoe's rehashing of the topic that is instantly available on the internet. That is not how I research electronically though if the subject matter is at all import to me. I still try to find the primary sources, still try and arrive at my own conclusions, etc., etc. I guess I see what you guys mean though if you're talking about me doing a book report now and just pulling up some other guy's report and plagiarizing it instead of reading the book myself. That's what we're getting at. I agree with your point, and it seems you agree with what we're saying too. I think we're all on the same page, but it's an interesting conversation. I'm with you on finding information faster and easier, I think there's just two different things we're discussing here.
  9. Look at this year's BP caps for all teams http://espn.go.com/blog/playbook/fandom/po...g-practice-caps
  10. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 27, 2012 -> 03:50 PM) Some would argue that rooting for the Bears this weekend is not very logical as making the playoffs would hurt the long-term health of the franchise. Just sayin' That's a stretch, but I get it...but it's not black/white like the other 2 scenarios we're talking about where there's no argument on the other side.
  11. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 27, 2012 -> 11:02 AM) I wonder how many "Bears fans" actually feel that way. And I know there will be some out there but I can't imagine there will be too many, right? Right? They are absolutely out there. And someone's not actually a "Bears fan" if they think that, because they are rooting against the Bears by doing so in this situation. They are the same people that root for the Bears to win the last game(s) of the season when losing would result in a better draft spot - so no chance at the playoffs anyway. Losing is actually better for the long-term health of the franchise, but they'll still want a meaningless win to make it 6-10 or whatever. Not very logical.
  12. I get it to a certain point. You don't have to work your brain or memory as much. Instead of trying to figure something out or remember a fact, someone just looks it up immediately. Instead of trying to figure out where something is or how to get somewhere efficiently, you just throw it into a GPS.
  13. Grammatical and spelling errors can be corrected before sending, even on a phone or tablet. If it's a short reply that's one thing, but otherwise it's just laziness.
  14. I'm hesitant to write this, but you could check out the Hockey Hall of Fame.
  15. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 27, 2012 -> 10:50 AM) Obligatory football post for today. Go Packers for one week. Meatball Bears fans will be at your door shortly. NEVER ROOT FOR THE PACKETS OMG!!!!11111!!!1!
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 19, 2012 -> 11:39 AM) Then they shouldn't be scared about losing lots and lots of users. Having something free is a great way to attract lots of interest and use. People will use things when it's free that they won't pay a small amount for. If that is unacceptable to a company's long term business model, then it needs a different long term business model. I'm unsure what you're saying here. You think they should keep it free? Or are you against the advertising model? Of course having something free will attract interest and use. But they have to make money, and as the article said, you basically have 2 options. If a product is that good, people will pay for it. You think if Facebook started charging per month, people wouldn't use it?
  17. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 21, 2012 -> 01:07 PM) Ok, time to buy tickets for Friday, August 23rd to give AJ a standing ovation. Zero reason this shouldn't happen, hopefully it's a great moment.
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 26, 2012 -> 11:06 AM) Le Sigh http://www.cbssports.com/nhl/blog/eye-on-h...-cory-schneider Decent hands there.
  19. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Dec 26, 2012 -> 09:01 AM) I may be a homer, but I think Rodgers should win MVP again this year. Played behind a banged up o-line all year. Jennings and Nelson missed most of the year. He has an 18:3 touchdown to interception ratio on the road this year. 11-4 record. Although I have no problem with Manning or Brady winning it or Peterson if they make the playoffs. Vikings making the playoffs should have no bearing on AP winning, absolutely hate that "argument."
  20. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 24, 2012 -> 01:18 AM) Lost in all the Illinois moral victories was Jabari Browns 18-7 game. Yeah, right.

    The Food

    QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 24, 2012 -> 10:11 PM) Had a brisket with my dad tonight. Hooray being half Jewish. Food is my least favorite part of the holidays. I hate having to stuff my face with crappy food because people will be offended if I don't. Crappy food? Your family sucks. Come to my xmas next time. GOOD food and booze.
  22. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Dec 23, 2012 -> 11:51 AM) What the f*** don't you get................it bulls*** they are going to decertify then after it is over become a union again.................it is a shell game and fans do not buy the bulls*** period!
  23. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Dec 23, 2012 -> 11:21 AM) Yes and it is nonsense to think people are that stupid to buy the bulls***.....................same thing when the NFLPA did it. If season is lost again I hope fans boycott buying tickets to the games and watch them at home. LOL, what the hell are you talking about.
